  • Not sure how prepared I feel for this, but there’s no time like the present!
Today is my first ever fast day.5:2 has been on anyone since I saw the programme on bbc. Having read a bit I’ve decided to go for it. I’m hoping that the forums will give me a bit of a lift if I start flagging. All advice gratefully received 😀

    Hey Juno,

good luck on your first day!
Mine is on thursday but I am not completely new to fasting.
I am so excited and hope to get slim and very healthy.
Try not to drink too much coffee that might make your stomach rumble. Prefer tea like Mate or a a mixture for fasting. How will you spread your 500 calories?
I have planned to consume the whole 500 calories in one meal, early dinner.
    😀

    Hi Anni
I’m going to do two meals. Thanks for the coffee tip. I drink it black so it’s my go to drink. Think I’ll go for green tea and fizzy water. Am going for 150 and 350 to see how that goes. Just thinking about it is making me feel hungry lol.
Gotta get psychologically prepared for feeling hungry. Think I’ve got used to feeling full all the time and I know it’s not good 🙁

Hello, I am doing my first fast day today too! Just trying to work out what to have for breakfast having not really prepared my cupboards! Will probably have something egg or porridge related. I have decided to have breakfast and then supper missing out lunch ….. same as you. Have already had a cup of coffee (with milk ….. Is that allowed??). Good luck!

Hey, fellow 5:2 starter. Have had a couple of coffees, am going to hold off on first meal until later, probably porridge, snap!
All a bit daunting, I’ll be glad once I’ve got one day under my belt.
Good luck, let’s catch up later and compare notes.

Hi juno – my first fast today – am about to have a fennel tea – great for water retention and then porridge for me! Are you doing your fast days in a row or spreading them out?

Hope everyone who is fasting today does a good job!
Can’t wait to hear how it worked for you guys :).

I’m spreading my days out – I’ll make my next one Thursday or Friday, not sure yet. All going well so far, but I’ve been keeping busy. I had a home made raspberry smoothie earlier, which I really enjoy. Going to have another black coffee and try to forget about food for a while lol

I read some posts where some people said they found it easier not to eat at all …… I could not decide what to have so found myself doing this anyway …. It worked quite well! I had an apricot this morning and then a few raspberries mid afternoon. Have since had my supper – salmon, pak choi, spinach, garlic and tomato which I really enjoyed but now I feel hungrier than when I had not eaten! Think I have had about 350 calories today so now cannot decide whether to eat the final 150 or not have anything ….
How did you get on Juno?

    I had a good day 🙂
Ate a home made smoothie at about 1, 150 calories.
Hairy bikers prawn curry at 257 cals plus 1/2 a nectarine at 60ca cals. Can’t believe I cut the nectarine in half!
Lots of black coffee and fizzy water got me through. Not too bad a first effort I think.
Feeling positive for the next one on Friday.
    How about you? Feeling OK?

    Hi lafun
Can I just pop in to say, don’t eat any more? 350 is all we ever have on fast days, very successfully. The 500 cal is a maximum, not a minimum. Just realise that in the morning you can eat what you like…and I bet you don’t 😉 PVE

    Juno, well done!
    My first day is tomorrow…

    Hi all

It’s my second fast today, second since autumn and second this week. I had been on this before and found that you have to experiment a little bit and see what works best for you. For me it’s best if I skip breakfast, have a very small lunch for example 1/2 can of tomato soup with 1 slice of ryvita and a medium dinner which today will be a wrap with salad and chicken.

If it works for you then it’s the right way to do it, if you feel ill, light headed or can’t cope stop and try a different approach.
