First Fast Day

  • Hey, I just joined what looks like a wonderful forum. I feel I might need to make several visits here for some support!

    My name is Clare, i’m 29, I’m from the UK and need to lose a lot of weight. I started this 5:2 diet yesterday, though today is my first fast day. I have decided to go a bit extreme to start with and am fasting every other day, well i plan to! I have decided to write everything down in a blog to try and keep focused.
    On non fast days I am sticking to as close to 2000 calories as i can. I think this diet might be hard as i am such an emotional eater, (fasting the day after a fight with my boyfriend is really hard!!) But I am working on it.
    I have planned meals for the day and when i’m going to eat.
    I’m really looking forward to getting on the scales in a week and seeing if there is much difference.

    Wish you luck with the first fast day, I am into week 3 now and it’s ok 🙂

    So far I’ve lost just over 5 lbs and 2.5 inches from my waist, the first week I did Monday & Thursday as my fast days, last week I did 3 mon,wed & fri and eat normally the weekend, this week I’m back to 2 days as I’ve been out quite a bit this week it was easier to stick to two.
    I tend to just drink water all day and wait until my evening meal on a fast day, I’m much better if I don’t eat breakfast, if I do eat I need to eat again by lunch!

    Thanks, Everything is fine with my boyfriend, just one of them nights!

    Today I ate a banana for breakfast, having cous cous for lunch and then also for dinner tonight. Right now I’m not hungry. I have decided that when I am on these fast days I need to spend time looking after myself. If I feel rubbish I end up eating, so off for a long bath before lunch! All I am drinking is water.

    Clare, I really like the sound of your enthusiasm. I have had good success with this plan (lost 37 pounds in 37 weeks so far), and I believe you will, too. However your food choices would not work for me, I have to have mostly high-protein foods with lots of veg or a little fruit on the side on a fast day or I get really hungry. But by all means do what works for you!

    In fairness I don’t know what works for me yet, I think it will take a little while to work it out! Trial and error!
    Your weight loss is amazing. I just hope I can achieve such great results.
