  • Hi Everyone,

I’ve been reading this site a lot, have finally joined. I’ve been fasting since Feb, but on and off. When I was consistent with it lost about 5kg, but put it all back on again. I’m battling depression and alcohol addiction at the same time, and it’s often alcohol that sends me over the edge and ends my fast abruptly. However I’m back on track, and have nearly completed my fast for this week.

I find it easier to fast on two consecutive days, as I just get it over and done with, and only have to gear myself up once a week. I’ve chosen Mondays and Tuesdays, as my kids are at school/preschool then, which makes it a little bit easier. I also find it easier to just not eat at all during fast days, as counting calories drives me nuts, and I can be a bit all or nothing. I do have a few instant coffees with milk and a teeny bit of sugar, but will try to cut back on them too as time goes on.

I actually am blessed with a fast metabolism, so can usually lose weight easily once I start eating sensibly and moving a bit more. What really drew me to 5:2 was the potential for repair- after all the alcohol and ridiculously unhealthy food I’ve subjected my body to after the last few years, I’d like to try and regain some health and not just lose weight. The potential is fascinating.

I weighed 97.4kg in February, and 93.9 yesterday. Ideal for me is 60kg, and I’m aiming to get there by Christmas. I have asthma and essential hypertension, so it will be intresting to see what happens with those.

And for any Sydneysiders, I’ve just signed up for the City2Surf, so there is a lot of motivation to stick to this and get my butt moving!

Welcome to the forums! Lucky you to have a fast metabolism! Mine is so slow, sometimes I think it is going backwards!

This plan has been a blessing for me. I am down 14 lbs in 6 weeks. Fast days are not always easy but I make it through somehow, and just look forward to the next day.

    Good luck on your goal!
