  • Hi i have just start today and could do with knowing if you all have a mix of full fat food and low fat food to eat. I need to eat 1700 kcal on the none fasting days and know that i cant eat that many kcal if is low fat low kcal food but i do know that if i have some full fat food in the diet it will bring my kcal intake up. Is there anybody that can help.

Hi Pia on my non fast days I make sure I eat good fats (like coconut oil, olive oil, nuts, avocado, oily fish, seeds)–the theory is that we need to eat fat to burn fat, they are also important for our immune system and for good skin There’s lots of information about good fats and why we need them. I found that when I eat these good fats I actually eat less because the good fats slow down the release of glucose into the blood stream, so there is less insulin and that makes you feel full for longer.

    all the best with 5:2

hi there Pia and welcome to the forum and 5.2!

already good advice there from Double Happy 🙂 good luck and happy fasting!

Thanks for that bit of info doublehappy. Pia on eat normally on my NFD but healthily. I have cut down on carbs too but still use my allowance of roughly 1800 (i need to loose around 3 stone). The one sentance i read on here that helped me so much is ‘East what you want but not HOW MUCH you want’. I have lost 8lbs in just under 3 weeks so it does work even though i was away last weeknd in Brighton and drank my bode weight in wine. This weekend is birthday celebrtions too so not sure how that will go

    good luck:)

Hi all and thanks for coming back to me. One more question. Is it alright if you dont eat all you kcal everyday? i still got about 900 to ho and not sure if i can eat all that food. I got 3 stons to loss before 20 Aug 2014 snd with a bit of will i am sure i can.

if you have 900 calories to go and your TDEE is 1700 then you are virtually doing a fast day (having eaten only 800cl) Did you have an over eating problem before? I ask because you say you have 3 stone to lose. I would like to just gently say that we all need to keep a level head about eating and welcome food that nourishes our bodies and for that we need to be eating good food at around our TDEE on non fasting days.

Hi double happy, i am now down to only having 200 kcal left and thats after having my dinner and pudding, will just have to see what i can eat with 200 kcal in.thanks for all your help upto now and yes i do like to pick out on food , thats way i thought i would give this fiet a go as it seem like that i can have my little treat and still be with in my kcal allowance any way i will keep you posted about how i am doing

well done Pia, I am such a nutrition police!!!Since I started the fast diet have read up heaps about getting best ‘bang for bucks/calories.
you have done well and 200cal short won’t matter. This way of eating is great and you are so right we can have our treats. mmm now I’m thinking of the cafe with the coffee cheesecake and the great thing is they serve it as a petite round so I can have what I want not HOW MUCH I want ( if it was a big slice…)–because it is a small serving I eat each spoonful with relish–have even been known to stop talking ! and just enjoy. A friend I was with the other day remarked that they had improved their brownie recipe–I think it was that we savored every bite.
all the best and keep us up to date.

Does everyone agree that Coconut oil (non processed) is a fat that is healthy?
Better than olive oil and rape oil?

I would say that organic cold-pressed, extra-virgin olive oil was “as good as” organic virgin coconut butter (or oil). Not sure about rape seed, can it be cold-pressed or does it need industrial/chemical extraction?

    Hi:

Here is an interesting speech that includes positive comments on coconut oil by a cardiac physician: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRe9z32NZHY

I use coconut oil for frying things – it works well as long as you don’t use real high heat.
