  • I am hungry too, been out with Heidi, now I have to cut up a chicken, well the legs wings and thighs to give Heidi for her dinner. Not going to pinch any or it would make me ravenous.

Feeling hungry now! Ages till I can eat, but I’ll do my best to keep going. Just been for a walk, lovely day today for that, and having some black coffee now. It does help that I know others are doing the same. I have some Ryvita if things get unbearable, but I’ll try not to and hopefully the hunger will pass.

    Stay strong everyone! xx

I’m the same but I won’t give in. Another four or five hours to go 😱

I’m dreaming of boiled eggs !!! Not till after 6 though.

    Afternoon All…
Just got back…what a lovely place Cosworth Hall near Doncaster, beautiful house, dog cafe, we had tea and coffee, a lake..lots of running for Charlie…definitely a return on a NFD as lovely cakes…

    Sarah..
I feel the same as you..we are eating far too much over Friday/Saturday, creeping into Sunday too..we really much pull back to just Friday our day off!

How very sad for your neighbours son, I worry about our grandsons getting to that age on mixing 19 and 20..I am glad they are tall lads both at the gym maybe it’s a good idea, both lovely. Hope he soon improves.

    Dave..
Ceramic hob cleaner is good for the oven glass doors, quite easy…good news on the cricket.

    Hedgehog..
You have to go somewhere special for 30 years..have a good search…our trip away is 16 years for us, anniversary, Steves birthday and Charlie’s birthday..we go on the 6th Feb for two nights…we like to be more free spirit on holiday, cruise not really for us unless it was the wrong ship.

    Annabelle..
Hope you have good news on reducing the steroid tomorrow..it’s always a long job on specialists as my hubby knows 😬

    Dave..
    Long time 45 years!…keep strong a few hours yet…

    Tammy..
We are stuffed with Steve too, bad knees although I have got him walking Charlie but not every time, blood cancer which is under control a life long thing, lung cancer which he has just had some lung out (August ) but good news all cut away…never sleeps at night….life is not good if you have problems.

Good luck on your scan….enjoy your eggs tonight 😀

    DF..
Stay strong too early to be hungry…I am not too hungry at the moment….

    Crisp..
How are you doing?…do you know Cosworth Hall?..is it near you..

Minols, Nana, Kay, Tyhpoo, , Caroline, Cakey..are you fasting today?

    Jean x

    Hi all
Just a quick drop by… Fasting with you all today. Cold here and rumbely tummy but not had time to eat so that’s a good thing. Just taking the boy for book time at the cafe so may treat myself to one of those single chocs with my coffee but think I can hang out until I eat with the boys later.

Will read back through the weekend when I get time this evening.
    Mx

Tammy- hope the scan goes okay & shows what’s up! My hubby is 60 this year too, has lots of health problems, but was injured at work so does get a sort of pension because of that ‘luckily’.
Sarah- that’s rotten for the lad you know, hope he recovers okay & it doesn’t put him off going out…
Jean- walk & park sounds good, wish we could take Xena further afield! You & Minols are very brave going to cafes on FDs!
Minols- what time does your son get out of school? Earlier than round here.
DF & Dave – well done so far & keep strong!

HH and Jean, it’s a big strain when they aren’t right, I get very frustrated with Graeme (hubby), he doesn’t do anything to help himself, probably depressed but wont go to the doctor, and alas I have run out of sympathy, now and again I do feel sorry for him.
    Must dash, catch you later.
    Tammy x

Back from the gym, could eat an horse now but still food free.Having a cuppa before I take Heidi to see the wolf.I got my final appointment to PARS.Physical activity referral system.I was told that I will finish what I am doing now when I go to that appointment. They will sort out a gym or something similar.I won’t go to a gym again.I don’t like them. Bowling will be my exercise plus dog walking, and may go swimming again.

Just speed read the posts and fasters sound hungry but winning through. I am hungry too now, I think it’s worse eating a yogurt first thing as it wakes the hunger dragon too early.

I am having a lentil&sweet potato cottage pie thing for 270 cals tonight. I am quite sure it will be disgusting! We don’t eat ready meals or prepared stuff really. We have an allotment and I like cooking and good food and I don’t work now so it’s a no brainer. I do quite a bit of batch cooking for the freezer too. For some reason I have been very resistant to cooking and calorie counting on my fast days and like to avoid the kitchen on those days etc but eating prepared soups and ready meals every FD isn’t sustainable especially as if this isn’t lifelong I will simply put weight back on, so I need to batch cook calorie counted FD dinners. Took awhile for the penny to drop and I don’t want to but I have to do it. I have noticed that the Southern Hemisphere people have set up a recipe section so I’m going to start with that and see if a few soups to bung in freezer will start me off.

Jean, so sorry to hear about the difficulties Steve has been having. Hopefully all will settle down.

Tammy would/could your hubby follow 5/2 with you? I’m sure you’ve tried already but it might make such a difference to his quality of life and show you he is making an effort with his health too.

Gordon’s (hubby) weight does fluctuate a bit but not much and he is 67, still naturally slim and can eat what he wants. That said he eats reasonably healthily and has a much better off button than me. Obvs that’s all good but tonight he will be tucking in with the remains of last night’s sausage and apple bake with a massive jacket potato and the remainder of the tart I made for Saturday night. I will be slightly (and unreasonably) irritated.

It’s just one day as I repeat over and over…

    Stay strong guys x

I need two new knees but am resisting for as long as I can, my thinking is the more I lose the better my knees will be. Think I will take Heidi out now then maybe have my tea 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋.

Not long to go… Will be going into the kitchen to put the boy’s dinner in the oven and i’ll have a half portion. The trick is to stop at that!
Walked miles today. We have a dripping tap and I’m fairly convinced I should be able to fix it. Just a bit concerned about turning off the water to the tap – draining what’s left – all fine. But with a combi boiler will that cause problems? Have a feeling I may wimp out and call a plumber!

    Mx

hello everyone, just having a quick catch up ! you lot can talk lol x

NFD today and working til 8 tho didn’t start til 3 today, yay, had lovely morning with my old mum. Trying to pull back the poor me im ill snacking I did over the weekend! Fast day tomorrow.

Symba 7 – Cosworth hall doesn’t ring any bells, Im in West Yorkshire, near Holmfirth, last of the summer wine country x

I’ve been looking at the latest Pinch of Nom recipe book, which has some fab ideas for meals under 500 cals so think I may indulge myself and buy it and try some batch cooking for fast days x

Did all you fasters manage to hang on til feeding time? x

    Evening All..
Kitchen closed…we had a lovely chicken salad, wasn’t really fancying it but it hit the spot…

    Minols..
Hope you enjoyed the cafe and had just one chocolate…keep warm…call a plumber…

    Hedgehog..
Hubby looks good for his age, tell him it will put a smile on his face..you too…both very good….no cake at the cafe!

    Tammy..
Steve isn’t too bad, he doesn’t complain much…his non sleeping gets him down…sometimes I say life is too short to moan making everybody miserable..I know if he’s not well…I try and fetch and carry, going up and down stairs to save him…it can be hard….keep your chin up it can easily get you down.

    Dave..
You do keep yourself busy…I do think swimming is good…we did it for a while it helped with weight loss.

    Sarah..
I do batch cooking for the freezer…makes easy meals…I never have done it for a FD…do you both work on the allotment, lots of fresh air.

    Crisp..
First time we have been, it was nice, it’s classed as West Yorkshire …you are much further over…interesting about the cook book, let us what it’s like..

    Jean x

    Evening everyone,
Yes Crispsandwich managed to hang on until my evening meal but I’ve been so hungry all day think it’s a combination of this being my second FD in a row and the cold weather – I’m always cold on a FD anyway.
Dave I’m with you preferring to lose weight over surgery to help with knee pain.
Jean sounds like you’ve had a lovely day today bet Charlie’s tired now.
Hedgehogs 30 years anniversary celebration planning to look forward to.
Annabelle hope blood test goes well for you tomorrow.
Well done to all of us who’ve managed either a FD or a sensible eating day today.
    Nana x

    I don’t know if anyone is interested….

I am re-viewing U tube videos with Dr Jason Fung…some new ones have been added since I watched them before.

The Complete Guide to Fasting..( I am half way through watching) a hour.

He was one of the first doctors to realise fasting helped weight loss, he covers lots of illness, diabetes, cancer, pain etc…all helped with fasting…he sometimes looses it a bit in medical speech but keep with it.

I find him most interesting he explains how your body reacts to fasting and the good it does you, how the old diets don’t work and how he has worked with his patients to loose weight.

Very much on Michael Mosley’s thinking.

He has lots of videos to watch, sometimes it could be about other illness, so flick through to suit. My first time around I watched 4 out of 6 ….30 mins live lectures …it reminds you why we are doing it…puts you on track.

Just put Dr Jason Fung u tube…they all come up…

    Jean x

    Nana..
    Post crossed..
B2B I think are always hard…it helps with movement of scales…well done..

    Jean x

    Evening everyone

It’s a fasting day for me and been 24 hours so far not that I’m counting and looking forward to my breakfast tomorrow morning.

I usually feel the cold more when fasting too no matter how many hot drinks I have.

Anyone fasting today stay strong and remember it’s only for one day and tomorrow we can all eat normally

Still not had my meal My grandson rang me saying he was locked out of his house and could I pick him up, so I did my daughter’s just picked him up so good time at long last🥔🥕🥖😋🍞🍣.

Minols do it yourself, I will try and put a link on here explaining how to do it, sounds easy, but expensive if you get a plumber.

Well if that’s my tea, I’ve had it lol
Didn’t hit the sides, roll on tomorrow.
Sarah I have tried before to get him to do 5/2, but he’s a very stubborn man and doesn’t like being told what to do, he can be very rude at times, like at the doctors, he just gives off the impression that he doesn’t give a sxxt, and they pick up on it, I have no time for him being like that, it’s like he thinks, he doesn’t need to do what he is told to, I’m not even convinced he takes his blood pressure tablets, he’s been called in tomorrow, see how that goes.
    Typh00 your doing well.
    Dave did you finally eat.
Nana b2b is always hard, well done.
Hi to everyone else, we are all doing it.
    Tammy x

Tammy yes had food, was like a Tasmania devil 😈😈😈😈😈. Will see what tomorrow brings, Spanish lesson then shopping tomorrow.

After all that moaning My sweet potato and lentil pie was actually nice. I’d def get it again. Quite a good amount and quite tasty for 270 cals. A brand called Kirsty. Not seen it before.

The other bonus was that I had one of those round canteloupe melons that you cut in half for two people in fridge. I had 100 cals to play with so googled it and was amazed. Sites tell you between 19 and 40 cals for 100 grams. I had 200 grams so well within on either calculation and it was nice and fresh and sweet and I felt like I’d really had something. Just didn’t realise melon was so low cal. That’s it now. Just a peppermint tea left tonight and I’m done!

Well done fasters. I’ve looked at messages periodically. It’s nice to read a stay strong post and helps. Steve, I read yours at a hungry point and it really helped. Yes tomorrow we can eat normally.

Tammy, you sound like you’ve done everything you possibly can re OH. On holidays we came up to Scotland for a bit of a road trip in June and went over to Mull and Skye too on the ferry. It was a fabulous trip. We got a boat to Fingals Cove and climbed up the cliff on this rickety ladder with a DOG and then along the cliff and sat with puffins. They basically mill around you and show no fear. It was one of the experiences of my life (and i really really hate heights) on the way out in the boat we saw porpoises, and dolphins and huge number of unusual seabirds and narrowly missed a Minky Whale. It was so wonderful and I felt quite emotional about the puffins. Scotland is such a fabulous place for holidays or daytrips. Unfortunately not on FB or I could post this wonderful puffin video I took.

Jean, weirdly I am re reading The Obesity Code by Jason Fung to help get me in the zone. It is compelling and persuasive. So scathing about artificial sweeteners and very much in line with MM as you say. I must check out those utubes. We both do the allotment. It has good soil but was very overgrown when we took it over Oct 2018. Now it is all set up with deep beds etc. It was a lot of hard work and lots of digging, but very productive in all senses of the word. Gretel comes with us and watches and we’ve put a little shed up. My OH knows what he’s doing and once worked in horticulture. I am very much the labouring contingent, though he does plenty of that too.

Well done all in staying so strong today and enjoy your tea/dinner/supper Dave.

    Nightie night x

Nana forgot to say v well done on your B2b. Hardcore or what?!

Sarah I Minols have had a few Kirsty meals, shepherd’s pie, Spanish chicken. They are quiet nice, think they’re are about 7 or 8 different meals. Not many places sell them all.Minols give it a go,will save a fortune and it’s not hard to do

    Sarah..
I have that book I had forgotten it’s on my kindle, I have just charged her up…I shall work through a few videos, then read or glance the book again..

This is another book, really makes you think….Dr Robert Lustig…Fat Chance.a bitter truth about sugar.
    All in Michael Mosley)s thinking.

We have been given the wrong diet information over the last 60 years and NHS is still giving it out, I get so cross about it..moan over 😂

    Jean x

The magic pill documentary is good too…haven’t watched much of Jason Fung’s stuff but very recommended on the keto forum.
Everyone sounds like they’ve been strong, well done all!
Still haven’t booked anything, have found out when dog sitter can have Xena, so hopefully can get a place booked tomorrow- can’t book it online, have to ring.

Thanks for the link, Dave. I have a tap under the sink that isolates the water supply. And I’ve tried (just as an experiment)turning that off and opening the cold tap full until it stops. And then I tried it with the hot top, too…and that’s when I started to wory that perhaps I shouldn’t drain down that wee bit with the combi boiler still on – don’t want to risk it continuing to heat when the kettle’s dry, as it were! I don’t know if I’m being clever thinking of this or foolish!
Anyway, time enough to ponder, cos I don’t have an allan key the right size to get into the tap workings, and I’m away for the next couple of days, too.

    Mx

PS Quietly confident that I’m definitely under 800, and possibly under 500 today – wahey!

Reading on the web turn the boiler off drain the water fix the tap then switch it Back on.

Well done fasters! Some real determination to keep strong and not eat until later in the day!

We went out for a walk today, nice and sunny! Did manage to walk along an extremely muddy bridleway at one stage, but otherwise it was really nice.

Walked over 14000 steps but more importantly got some brisk walking in.

Didnt have lunch out but we did pick up fish and chips to take home!
I only had a mini cod but it was still a fair size!

I am going to attempt 3 x 800 days! Definitely doing Tues and Thurs so thought why not do all 3. Just need to be organised and keep busy!

The Fung videos and books are very good. I may have to revisit to instill some common sense into my brain!

Bed time, early for me, but Im tired tonight. Catch you all tomorrow. The fasting window has begun!!

    Kay x

I have never seen the Fung videos,so will have a look when I can.

    Morning all!
Hope those not fasting today enjoy their breakfast this morning!
Kay- I’ll be doing 800cals today with you…anyone else? Minols?
Very frosty today, will have to scrape the cars…dog training with Xena later.

    Morning all
Not frosty here, makes a change.
    HH hope training goes well
I’ve just had breakfast, small amount of cereal, but that will be the only small amount today, treating my daughter out for lunch, in between, dentist and going back to school and my friend is joining us, I’ve also got chilli in the slow cooker, that might get miss later, it’s rather sweet, think I need more tomato puree, didn’t use a recipe, I just throw things in, lol.
Catch the rest of you later
    Tammy x

Well done yesterday fasters, I struggled a lot. I was hungry around lunchtime and felt so tired too, which is never good and makes me want to eat. Thankfully, coming on here and reading others posts helped, and I managed to get through it. Next one Thursday which I hope will be easier. I’ll keep it sensible today.

I’ll try and watch some of the Dr. Fung videos, I’ve heard people talk of him before, and that he makes a lot of sense. Certainly IF has worked wonders for me, and I’ve tried so many other diets and got no where. This is one I know I can always rely on 🙂

Have a good day everyone, stay strong fasters!

    x

    Morning All…
A beautiful day again.. taking Charlie to the usual park this morning nothing much planned. Batch baking some Yorkshire puds for the freezer, making small meat pie for tonight. ( Steve doesn’t know his favourite)

    Hedgehog..
I think I have seen the magic pill but I will check….is keto, ketogenic? maybe a daft question, but Fung talks about it.
I think old or new people on the forum would find it interesting…just giving my mind a reminder.

Hope you can get the sitter organised and some dates to work with. Frosty here too..

    Minols..
Good luck with the tap if you dare 😬

    Kay..
A good number of steps done…we still have a lot of mud about…sounds like you had a good day…

    Tammy..
Hope you can sort your chilli out for tonight…enjoy the dentist 😬 and lunch out…

    DF..
I had a rumbling tummy yesterday..body eating your fat away 😂….a good thought.
We will be fasting Thursday too…

Must go crying boy he’s wanting his walk….

    Jean x

    Hello all,

Fast day for me, having a cup o soup to keep me going then I have some cauliflower sausages with risotto for tea – hmmm not sure what they will be like! but 43 cals each !

I have an early finish today also, hurray, so I am going to go home and tackle the monstrous ironing pile with a film to keep myself busy !

Tonight am going swimming, tho not sure how will fair on a fast day

Hope you are all sticking to the plan and those that are out and about enjoying the sunshine x

    Crisp..
Have a good day…swimming is great on a FD it really helps…we did it for about 9 months and noticed the weight loss with fasting…

Ironing I hate it!…my least favourite job comes close to window cleaning ☹️😬🤣

    Keep strong..
    Jean x

Jean – I don’t mind the ironing, I only do it when it threatens to cascade and kill me and the cats, however I loathe putting it away !

oo hope the swim helps then !

    Afternoon!
Cath- don’t like ironing either, just about bearable in front of TV…have quite a pile to do tonight too! Enjoy the swimming! Will be interested to see what the sausages are like!
Jean- keto/ ketogenic all the same, was that what you meant? Poor Charlie, having to cry for his walk! Enjoy your cooking!
Tammy- have a nice lunch out!
    DF- well done yesterday!
Dave- can’t remember if it was gym, bowling or Spanish today but have a good day!
Took Xena into the vets today just to say hello, actively encouraged at ours, popped her on the scales & she’s lost 2kgs/ 4lbs, so will keep trying to feed her up…training was funny; a new puppy kept running round the other dogs, & so did one of the older ones, Xena failed miserably at temptation alley today, normally she’s good at that! Was very cold there 😢 Not booked a break yet- the place I wanted to go to wouldn’t take short break bookings, even though it was available for just half a week?! Frustrating…Shopping in a minute.

Not eaten so far, just a splash of milk in my coffee to serve as my lunch 😀

Tea is planned..cauliflower burger topped with an egg with baked beans.

Still got calories to play with. Im off out to the dentist in a bit so may plan a bit of something for when I get back.

    Keep strong fasters!

Cauliflower burgers and sausages, never seen them before.I have heard of cauliflower rice.Definately not a fast day today had two sandwiches for dinner and homemade pie for tea so a guzzling day today.HH it was Spanish lessons today, bowling tomorrow weather permitting.Looking forward to the cycling on Saturday at the velodrome,it’s about 1.5 miles from our house.Weather is cloudy but not freezing,it’s 6°C.

Keep strong you fasters, Kay, HH, Crisp and anyone else who has hold of the baton for today. It’s just a day and tomorrow you will be pleased. I feel so good and a little bit leaner after fasting yesterday. Determined to keep it lowish today and maximise any loss.

Dog walk, pilates, odd jobs including ironing which I don’t mind as long as I have the radio on. There doesn’t seem to be so much in winter compared with summer and there are only the two of us. We also need to cover the rhubarb which has started to sprout. We much prefer the forced stuff so hubby at B&Q getting hoops and black plastic instead of the buckets we used last year.

We too are trying to book a break. It is a bit tricky because after 30 years of being stuck to school hols, we still are because of looking after the granddaughter. Flights just zoom up even in Feb half term. We do have the odd week off but we’re already doing that a bit this year so it’s tricky. Still it is the last year.

Jean, I did in and out of The Obesity Code. It’s very interesting but not really a cover to cover read. I will look for the Robert Lustig.

Hang on in there fasters and non fasters too. I’m sure what we do on NFDs is just as important. I do feel it’s a bit easier second time around as if my body recognises it and thank goodness I didn’t wait any longer til I’d put the lot back on!

    Good afternoon all

Wasn’t feeling too hungry this morning when I woke up so decided to skip eating until tea so that will be a 48 hour fast.

Tea will be vegetarian sausages beans and tatties which i look forward to eating in a couple of hours.

Was looking at vegan burgers and sausages in Sainsbury’s,they have quiet a lot of veggie stuff.Minols have you fixed the tap? Do it you will be so proud of yourself. I was nervous about taking the oven door completely off but did it and pleased I did. Next one of my electric sockets in the kitchen is not working all the time, it could be a lose wire so thinking about trying to fix it myself.

    Afternoon All..
Yorkshire’s are done, not quite up to standard pushed for time..pie made..
Taking my time doing it, sister rang, then daughter rang then running out of time….only for us so fine not a total flop.

    Hedgehog..
Thought my thinking was right about keto….Charlie is top form..is it spring arriving, very lively….will you tell Xena to stop throwing her pounds this way, Charlie is catching them 😂..so mild here tonight I could of done with a different coat on…

    Crisp..
    Hope the ironing is done..

    Kay..
Well done keep strong…good luck at the dentist..

    Ola Dave…
You are going very veggie…thought you didn’t like them…..Hope you can do the socket..

    Sarah..
We just love rhubarb…it’s got to lovely to grow your own…hoping you can sort some dates out for hols…with the caravan is being repaired we have held back on booking anything until we have it back.

Robert Lustig is interesting too about reversing diabetes but a lot about weight, it’s quite frightening really…sugar.

    Tyhpoo..
48 hour fast is really good…your hunger pangs should be going away….apparently 😀

    Keep strong fasters…

    Jean x

Jean I was only looking at the veggies I didn’t buy any, I am definitely a carnivore.Pie cabbage carrots and mash for tea. I have started making a large Yorkshire for our roast dinners.

Typhoo- well done! Not done a 48hr fast in a while…
Sarah- don’t mind a bit of rhubarb but only if it comes with alot of crumble 😂 Shame you’re tied to school holidays!
Jean- not sure if Xena’s just burning it off, hope that’s all it is, we’ll be keeping an eye on her…
Kay- well done to you, hope the dentist visit goes okay!
Dave- don’t electrocute yourself! Nice that the velodrome is so close..
Hopefully a few days in Cromer booked, sent a message to the owner. Still sulking about the other place!! Obvs not meant to go there! Bought myself some diet food to keep me going, quavers & more popcorn, diet biscuits, should really go back on keto but not until after my birthday, not long. Was really chuffed that Tesco have got the seaweed snack I like too, & on offer, bought loads of packets! Cooking macaroni cheese for my lot, it’s one of my favourites, shall have to be strong!💪

    Evening all
Had a good lunch out, had prawn cocktail and then stir fry chicken and noodles it was lovely and I stopped eating when I had enough, usually I just scoff the lot, dont think I will eat tonight, I’ve not been feeling to great today, felt very faint this morning, I had eaten but made sure I had some water, my atrial fibrillation has been playing me up since last night and its probably that, although it doesn’t usually have this effect, so maybe a combination of things, also didn’t have a good sleep, I’m just up from a nap and am feeling better but the heart still out of whack.
Hi to all stay strong tasters, it will soon be tomorrow.
    Tammy x

Cauliflower masala sausages are meh but edible. I do like the plant based shawarma ‘meat’ from sainsburys tho x
