  • It’s my first day of fasting tomorrow, been stuck 7ibs over my ideal weight for a year now and want to try something new. Can anyone recommend a website/app/book that I can use to get the calorific value of everything? Individual veg and fruit e.g.

    hello

I have got Rosemary Conley low-fat recipe book, which tells you the calorie value

If you would like it you are very welcome

    Just let me know

    from

    a read

Karenat23 – Lots of people use the MyFitnessPal website, which includes an extensive, free calorie counter.
The offer from ‘a read’ would necessitate you divulging your contact details, which I would not recommend on any forum.
    With all best wishes.

I’ve got the myfitness app, but how do you find calorie content for something simple, an egg e.g. When I try it seems to need a brand name, description, serving size etc! What am I doing wrong?

Karenat23 – I don’t actually use MyFitnessPal or calorie-count, myself, but my motto is ‘When in doubt, put it into a search engine!’
‘Calories in an egg’ just brought this up as first on the list of answers:

If you are doing anything ‘wrong’ using the app, hopefully someone else here will point you in a better direction. Best wishes.

Jeanius – thank you! I’m sure I’ll get used to this!

I use MyFitnessPal a lot, especially on my fast days. I find that if I am looking for something such as an egg, I would search egg, and look at the list of results and pick the one that is middle of the lot in calorie count.

MyfitnessPal isnt always accurate, but is pretty close
