  • Started the 5.2 last week. Yesterday was my third fast day I reckon I might have gone a fraction over the 600 calories allowance for men. Is that a problem?
I’m finding accurate calorie counting harder than the fasting. thispo

thispo, if only a few calories over (like less than 50), don’t worry. Even if 100 over, not a disaster.

    Calorie counting is a chore.

Many people plan ahead, develop a couple of menus that they like for fasting days, and stick to them, just for convenience. Not always easy to do depending on where you are and who’s doing the cooking. It gets a bit easier with time. At least with 5:2, it’s not calorie counting all day, every day 🙂

It is not a problem, but I would suggest that you log everything (!) you put into your mouth in the free myfitnesspal app and that you get yourself a food scale. It is very easy to under estimate portions. Do not forget to log sauces, drinks and little cookies that you might eat during your day. They don’t seem to be much but they do add up!
    Best of luck

    “Calorie counting is a chore.”

I agree with you and have ignored that logging. My preference has been a tracker that automatically gives me feedback when I look at it. Saves time and eliminates unnecessary focus.

I read elsewhere here, where a slim person seldom weighed herself, and made sense to me. It’s more about the self talk that the person has ongoing that succeeds better.

    It does for me.
