  • 5:2 Seems to be working for me and no one is more surprised than I am!

    I have been flirting with type two diabetes, insulin resistance and fatty liver for some time now. My doc is not happy with me so I have been fasting 5:2 for about 5 weeks. I measured my waist yesterday and have lost 4 centimetres seemingly without effort.

    I really am amazed I now feel inspired to clean up my diet for the other 5 days of the week. Not that I will be super strict just be more aware of hunger signals and such.

    Here we go again but I can’t help but thinking this is it?!?!?!?!

    Well done Slight. I think that is the secret to 5:2, the fast days do inspire you to clean up your whole diet. The forum is a good way to keep your enthusiasm up and not become bored or jaded. Keep up the good work.

    Simcoeluv that link is very helpful. Number two is so inspirational, I can take comfort in that about now as I am waiting to eat my 500 cals for the day!

    Fast day just about over! I keep reading Simcoeluvs post about how the losses were not apparent until the pants fell to the floor, this is keeping me on track even when I feel this is a crazy way to expect to lose weight.
    We are about to go away for work so no second fast day this week, I am ok with this and am loving the freedom.

    Fast day over and breakfast was egg and beans on gluten free toast. Interestingly this morning I only had one piece of gf toast did not feel like the second piece at all.

    Hi slightedge, this is very encouraging! I’ve only just done my 2nd FD (apart from a brief flirtation with the diet last year)& have also found it’s made me more mindful of my food intake on other days, so I’m getting more control. I tend to lose weight very slowly despite being fairly active, so will try & be patient if nothing happens for a while.
