  • P.s i love a hippy skirt too! Maybe Michael and Mimi should set up a second hand clothes store for 5:2 success stories and donate the $ or clothes to a worthy charity

WAY TO GO GG! 75kg! Well done, you have done it!!! Oooo I’m excited to see if I can get there on Friday too 🙂

Robbie…..loving the sound of your fast day food…..yum!

Well done to today’s fasters 😀

Robbie, I agree about flavour, be it herbs, garlic, chillie sauce or even curry, it leaves a lasting taste which bland food doesn’t, plus bland food is so boring to eat, you must have something to look forward to, not eat just because you should. A lot of the nibbleies we reach for, savoury shapes or whatever, is because of the flavour and crunch….have a great evening and Foxy you’ll be there before you know it…CG xx

Thanks FOX. I did a B2B fast on MOM&TUES. Please get there on Friday! I don’t want to be by myself on this wave . I just could not wait to the weigh -in …..I had to get hubby to check because he heard this yell from the bathroom to find me in the altogether saying “LOOK LOOK” the response was “BLOODY HELL WOMAN I thought you had cut yourself shaving!” so much for the excitement of the moment. LOL .love and hurry up and join me …..GO GAL

Congratulations on all the fabulous weight losses.. Way to go! Its an inspiration for people like me who have over 20kg to lose.. It is possible
The philly cheese lite spread and A bit of water in the microwave for 30s made an excellent cheese sauce 60cals, but i had it to spare today.. And it was yum.
The pumpkin i roasted was delicious too, bought from a farmers market. I highly recommend visiting one cos the produce is so good..
Oh well thats food for today.

Well done Robbie, it’s amazing what you can come up with, getting out of the habit of our old comfort zone with food is really exciting, well done…CG

Attempted to fast today. Did really well and enjoyed it even, until about 4pm? I will do better on Friday! I’m finding I have to do alternate days, or at least Monday, Wednesday, Friday. That way I keep my head in the right space.

I talked to a doc about appetite suppressants yesterday. Said I’d give the 5:2 a good hard go over the next few weeks! Sounds much nicer!

Enjoying reading the recent posts. I laughed out loud when I read about your husband Go Gal. The last time I screamed in the bathroom, about 8 years ago now, my husband thought it was a spider. I’d just realised I was pregnant! I hadn’t missed the target like I thought I had. Ha ha.

Hug your family members, be they human or furry, tight. Tell them you love them and give thanks. x Reldz.

Good morning team, happy fasting day to you who are doing it today. Don’t be dissappointed if the scales are a little up to yesterday it’s only fluid, your body is still readjusting, it all takes time, but look back how far you have come. I fasted yesterday, was 84.6, had 464 cals and up to 85.0 this morning, but life goes on….I started at 99.9 on June 1 this year so still very very happy. I’m not too worried about a few hundred grams,,it’s the overall loss and measurements that matter.
Have a great day team, enjoy whatever food you have, enjoy your cuppas, they are life savers, hunger pangs are often thirst and don’t last long anyway…..think of it as your fat disolving….I’m doing tomorrow fasting as my third this week so don’t know how the weigh in will be effected, but I’ll still do it to stay in line with you all.
Be good to yourself, if you go over your cals a bit, don’t stress the little things, it still works. Your AUSSIE DETERMINATION is at it’s best on fast days, as you all know YOU CAN DO IT!!!……CG xxx

    Good Morning AD
And Go Gal……………………….. WOW, YOU DID IT, YOU DID IT, YOU DID IT!!!!!! Doing Yipeee yay yay yay for you. Mission accomplished and that too before the 15 Dec…… How very well Done!!! I can imagine the look on your face. Oh, joys of life….Again Well Done and Big hug and congratulations!!! Yipee yay yay yay!!!

RobbieJ, see that scarf has more length to it, good signs already, enjoy your work function and yes, thanks for cheese sauce idea. I am going to try it tomorrow.

CG, we are in the same boat. I fasted yesterday, ate only 375 cals. i was 75.5 kgs yesterday and today morning I am 75.8kgs, so up by 300 grams. However, i know it is bloat due to TTOTM (yes, mine continues for nearly a week or more), but these are the things that we women are blessed with. So you have the right attitude and enjoy today as I know you are fasting tomorrow as well.

Reldz, LOL, what a connection… spider and a baby…lol. When I found out that I was pregnant around 4 years ago (in the bathroom too), I was dumbstruck.. and that is usually my reaction when i see a spider too. Again, we women are so similar…LOL

Foxy, you and GG have reached the target already. I am 500 grams away, but we still have 4 days, so who knows that I get to achieve it too….

Morning all. Feeling really positive as I head into another fast day. My daughter is fasting today too and now my husband has joined in as of today. They can see the results on me after only several weeks. I started at 76. Looking forward to the weigh in tomorrow.
    Happy fasting.

Good morning everyone! Happy fast day to all who are fasting…..including me:)

FB…..I still have 400 grams to go to get to the blessed 75! But am hoping that this might disappear overnight after my fast…..still we have until 15th to make it…..I will weigh again on 16th as that will officially be my three month mark of 5:2…..WOW just reading that I am impressed by myself….because even though I’ve had blow outs on weekends sometimes……I’ve never missed a single fast since I started and have done a few 4:3 as well!

WE CAN DO IT EVERYONE BECAUSE WE ARE AUSSIE DETERMINATION 😀 😀

Wow! Way to go, go gal! Awesome effort! It’s so good to have a goal, but to reach it!.. you must be over the moon!
Yesterday I re visited the show that started all this for me (us). Intermittent fasting has so many heath benefits… and losing weight is just a very nice side effect! I thought I’d try a fast day of liquids only today, as the last few days have been a bit off, food choice wise. THANK GOODNESS FOR 5:2 ! Here is the link for the Horizon episode with Dr Michael Mosely.

Just love 5:2 and just love being part of this lovely group 🙂
Go GO GO …AUSSIE DETERMINATION !!!

Hi team, how did you all go fasting today, mine was a feast day today with my third fast tomorrow. To night is our Aussie ( national) dinner of steak chips and eggs, which you can have tomorrow whilst I’m fasting! Don’t you just love this way of life? Tell us all how you think you went including what you ate and plan for dinner…or….having for dinner. Andrew are you still with us, how is it going for you….Take care everyone…CG xx

GG….you skinny thing, hope you have a lovely dinner x

Good Evening all, today was a fast day. Dinner this evening was homemade pho with roast beef leftover from last nights roast, bok choy, mushrooms and Shirataki noodles. Yum.

Hi onahealthyhigh, I, like I bet, everyone else raced to google to see what pho was, it souds so yummy, way to go girl, perfect fast day meal.
Foxy I’m sure you’ll look beautiful tomorrow at the wedding, you hold that head high, you deserve to, and as for the wint, it’s your decision, I do on fast days but add to my caloury intake….good luck……CG xx

Another note to self, proof read before submitting! Sorry about the typos..CG xx

Ha, GoGal! I’d prefer lots of negative numbers! 😉

    Hi CG & Team,

Still with you. Just back from Melb (by train so relaxxxxxxxing) & caught up with everyone’s posts. Managed a couple of walks this week. Back to 5:2 next week Mon and Wed – will work in Melb Tues & Thurs so it fits neatly. Despite the sabbatical still feeling in the 5:2 groove by keeping up with everyone’s AD posts.

You are a bunch of inspiring people!

    Go us!

    Hi all
I’m not very good at regular posting but I do read the posts from others every day. Well I was dreading the approach to Christmas and here I am binge eating. I am so good on my fast days but on non fast days I’m starting to struggle. When I started the diet my eating habits changed and I stopped the junk food and found I was not nearly as hungry on non fast days…now however, the past couple of weeks the hot chips and chocolate cake…and mini magnums have found there way back into my life and for first time put a bit of weight back on.
I have come too far to give up (27 weeks). Reading everyone’s posts is certainly encouraging.

Lovely to hear from you Andrew, glad your still going well
. Luvinlife, don’t give up and don’t give in….the secret is to not have those treats in your home. If your out, sure, shout yourself a treat, but only one, let your AUSSIE DETERMINATION take over, your doing this for YOU, no one else, you are in control, grab the reins again, you know how easy and doable it is, you know it works….YOU CAN DO IT……..CG xx

Hi luvinlife, could you try planning your snacks the day before? When I feel my snacking starts to get out of control (it happens every few months, usually when the seasons change) I decide the day before how much I get to snack. If I wake up knowing how much I’ve allotted myself the day before, I can keep to that more easily. It works for me because it’s like not cheating on FDs. For instance, I will have no more than 2 biscuits tomorrow. Or 2 pralines. Or 1 of either but not more. If I then really feel like having something sweet, I’ll have a late night orange or banana to reward myself. Also, I’ve started counting fruit as a treat instead of just food and it helps curb my sweet cravings. And most importantly, don’t beat yourself up about slipping up every now and then! Don’t feel guilty. Just get right back into the saddle. You’re living your life, not running a race. You had the treats, you’ve enjoyed them (haven’t we all?) and now you can move on without feeling bad about them. I put a bunch of weight back on last February, felt bad about it. Now I weigh about 10kg less than I did then. Don’t give up, it’s about your downward trend, not individual weigh-ins. You can do this! Trust me, if I can do it, you certainly can too.

I’ve been totally awol this week, you guys. Sorry. That said, I weighed myself this morning (I know it’s not weigh day yet but I’m usually late for that) and I weighed 64kg o_O. I thought I would’ve put weight on this week. I guess I’m benefitting from last week’s logging this week.

    How is everyone feeling today?

Morning one and all….. TYPO…. wish you all negative numbers with positive results today.
After last nights dinner I remain the same 75kgs. I made wise food choices from the menu, grilled barramundie and salad ,yes to the wine , no to desert.

FOXY- have a wonderful time at the wedding….. You will be stunning!

LUVIN- Please keep going ..as CG said don’t have treats in the house… save them for a special reward for yourself on your feast day.

Have a wonderful day….. full of AUSSIE DETERMINATION……….GO GAL

Good morning team have a great weigh in. If the scales don’t move, don’t sweat the small stuff, remember the other benefits. Your clothes are fitting better and your better off than you were a few weeks back. I have another fast day today but did have a sneak preview, even after my Aussie dinner last night, I’m down to 84.8k so still going in the right direction, still hope for another loss today with my third fast, so stay tuned for tomorrow morning, and if no movement on the scales …so be it! Beautiful day coming up, pefect day to be out and about, if your working, consider a walk around the block at lunch time, take an apple for food/drink and enjoy your day……CG xxx

Happy weigh in day down 100 grams

I think the stress I am under is making me retain water. I feel a bit bloated but have eaten pretty well. Even in my hands my rings feel tighter. So I will eat well over weekend stay away from carb. Lucky I pushed the fast yesterday or I would have put on.

So onwards and upwards 500 grams to my Christmas goal.

    Hope everyone does well

Hi all, feelin’ the good vibes this morning. Second GG’s wish for all to have negative numbers with positive results. Day 12 – started at 110, now 106.4kg YIPEEE. Sizzler’s on Wednesday went well, thanks for all the tips; had a small steak, lots of plain salad, a couple of prepared salads avoiding the mayo ones, a baked potato with about a teaspoon of sour cream and 2 tiny desserts (choc mousse and pana cotta in a shot glass) and water to drink. So great reading how everyone is doing, I can see we’re all really determined. Keep up the fantastic work.

Wooohoo GG1 fantastic new, well done, keep that AUSSIE DETERMINATION going, it really works, enjoy your day….CG xx
Bali the fluid issue happens to us all, but it passes, you so close to your Xmas goal and it will happen…….CG xx

    Good Morning everyone
    Happy Weigh in day!!!
CG, you are doing so well. If you were at this weight after Aussie dinner, then I am guessing that you will drop more weight after today’s fast. All the best!!! And yes, I am fasting today as well.

GG, you are a star and a winner to reach and 75 kgs first. To me it feels like reaching the moon and having your flag waived up there 🙂 very proud of you Mum!!!

Bali2015, ask me about bloating. You are 100 grams down, so that’s definitely a good news. You know the drill!!’

5 2 luvinlife, dont give up. I would say that this festive season makes life difficult as you see chocolates n cakes floating around. Yesterday, my workmate offered me a chocolate, i turned down and then “oh cammon, its Christmas time” chocolate is something that I cant resist, so I gave in and gulped that ball of sin. However, we know that 5 2 has worked for each and everyone for us. So we will do it tomorrow again.

Foxy, Go smash the party with your stunning looks. I am sure you are going to look gorgeous. Just look out for running around when you return back home then 😉

Andrew, so good to hear from you. Hope you will settle into fasting just fine from next week.

FC, you are a big inspiration. And good luck for your final weigh in this week. I will keep tuned.

And big congratulations to GG1. Woo hoo. Happy dance for you
And conrats to all others too.

Well, for me, the news is that I am up by half a kilo (500 grams) and weigh 76 kgs today. I know its water retention n bloating and this was already expected. So, i am not stressed at all as normally I gain over a kilo at this time around.

And yes, lindanaf thanks for link to documentary, i watched it for the first time and it made so much sense. Thanks

I have a day off today as I need to get my tests done for my upcoming heart’s CT. So, fast day is going to be easy as most of the time will be spent at hospital waiting.

All the best again to rest of the crew!!!

Weigh in day. Lost another 900 grams. Trying to add my ticker from MFP and/or my progress report. I think this is since the beginning of November.

I HAVE DONE IT! keeping you company GG……75.1 this morning so am taking that as goal met! Forgive me everyone for not commenting on other posts, I’m just out the door for our weekend away!

Wow CG, well done! How is that 4:3 working out for you? I can’t wait to hear about yuor next weigh-in.

Foxy, congrats, you passed with flying colours!

GG1, 3.7kg in 12 FDs is quite a feat. You must be thrilled.

Hey Bali, a 100g loss when you’re stressed and feeling bloated is very good, imo. Who knows how much fat you’ve actually shrugged off.

Uptightoutasight , I love those MFP trackers. And well done on your loss. That’s absolutely marvelous.

Morning all, some great losses there today, and fatbuster, I know the feeling of staying the same, and up a bit, but this woe/wol just seems to put your mind in a much more positive space. Glad you enjoyed the program, too. ‘Aint 5:2 awesome 🙂
I’m down 400g this morning… which puts me half way to my goal! I can’t believe it! 6kg in around 12 weeks! Could never do that with the old way of dieting. So maybe around March/April there will be a lot of yippy yahooing here lol! Have a great day all.

    Hi all
Welcome to the new people to this way of life.

Weigh in day today! I do 4: 3 Monday Thursday and Saturday.
SW 72.7 AFTER 12 WEEKS CW 65.0.BMI 26.0. I have 1kg to go to be in healthy BMI 25. I cant believe it. I am in shock…..My advice ..hang in there….for the last month my scales have been teasing me with 300g up then 300g down…

We are ALL in 5:2 for this way of life. And with the support from our FABULOUS family here on AUSSIE DETERMINATION,it is a journey worth taking…. you have all inspired me… I could not of done this without YOU…(I want to dance but I need to sit down…I feel like crying with joy.)

Is this what it feels like Andrew to win an award. Congratulations by the way…you deserve the award and more…..

GG….what a journey…..FANTABULOUS!!!…you have proven that we can ALL reach our goals…thankyou…

Foxy congratulations……it can be done! You must be loving the new you….

CG..your posts give me food for thought……sometimes I get stuck in the same old thing and you kick start me again….How are you finding 4:3?

Go AUSSIE DETERMINATION! Have a fantastic day! You deserve it!…Vegie

Hi team, veggiemumma you have done so well, you have a lot to be proud of
My 4:3 is a bit of a struggle today, feeling a bit deprived for some reason, but clinging to my AUSSIE DETERMINATION, I just had a yoghurt nut bar with my black tea which will put me over 120 cals today, don’t know if it was greed, hunger, yearning, or my teeth needing something to bite, but I had it and enjoyed every nibble. My overall cals for a week will still be well down, but doubt I’ll do 4:3 for a while, although some days just happen when you realise you haven’t eaten much ( calorie wise), then I panic trying to get closer to my TDEE to make my fast days count! Silly I know…the less you eat over the week the more I guess you lose. Anyway, I’ll weigh in in the morning, see how I go, don’t know how you do this every week FB, the 5:2 is certainly a lot easier, AND WORKS. Enjoy whats left of your day team, don’t be too hard on yourself (like me with the yoghurt bar..I still had it), enjoy your drinks tonight if your indulging and try to make sensible choices with food, or smaller portions of Xmas goodies anyway…..CG

    Hey CG
You are absolutely right, 120 cals over is not a bug deal. As you said, weekly cals will still be very low.
I guess its more of a habit issue, i am just used to it and it really if 5:2 is working for you, then there is no need to change things around. Its like doing b2b fast. GG is very good at them but I cant see myself doing them, whereas I love the idea of ADF.

2 weeks back, i bought a beatiful sleeve less black top. Today, i decided to wear it and guess what…… Size 14 was damn too big. Lucky I still had receipt in the bag. So went and exchanged it for size 12. It was a loose fit top, but way way way too big for me now. Ah…. The joys of 5.2. Love it.

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!! WELL DONE YOU FABULOUS GIRLS… BALI, GG1,UPTIGHT,LINDANAF, VEGGIE & FB ……. wonderful losses , Ladies you are well on your way. Your AUSSIE DETERMINATION is working so well for all of you. Be proud!!!!! I am soooooo happy for you all.

Have a fab night, make it outasight……….GO GALxxxxx

FB, thanks for the feed back, I altered my dinner “menu” many times ans still over so past worrying. Like we say, the weekly count is really what matters and I’m way down on normal, have a great night. Congrats again to GG and Foxy too,and FB, wow, what a fabulous feeling for you…..See you in the morning…CG xx

Thanks Go gal and Flemish curves. I am impressed with those of you who do 4 /3 let alone ADF! I think I need 2 days in between to keep me happy! So good on you, Countrygal! Vegiemumma, that is excellent!
I am loving how positive these posts are. With such good results why would you ever stop! And it isn’t easy this time of year. Well done everyone!

Well done all who lost. Well done to all who understand that there is always tomorrow! (Me!). I’ve decided to do 4:3 and maybe even ADF. It just seems I can keep my thoughts more on track and I truly have to get some action happening in the weight loss department! Having sautéed spinich with chilli and garlic tonight. So simple and so yummy.

    Take care
    Reldz 🙂

Have just managed under 500 cals with a beer! Woo hoo! See you all tomorrow. 🙂

Good morning team, well I really struggled yesterday with a third fast for the week, in fact blew it last night. I ended up having savoury shapes and dip…THEN two chocolate biscuits with my coffee. Just lost all AUSSIE DETERMINATION and was very dissappointed with myself.
Anyway as I keep saying our 5:2 is forgiving…….last weeks weigh in was 85.0k, this morning….83.8k yahooooooo

I did do quite a long post but only a third of it went through AGAIN. I was saying even if you plateau or zigzag your measurements with be different. Don’t lose hope, just stick with it, our 5:2 really does work. I do think doing a 5:2,4:3 or ADF once or twice does reboot things, then going back to your usual way. I’ll be doing 5:2 from now on. I started at 99.5 on June 1 this year and now 83.8 and find our 5:2 WOE just so so easy and doable, in fact I really look forward to my two fast days each week.. Have a great day team, enjoy life and don’t be hard on yourself….CG xxx

CG, imagine how many calories yoiu would’ve had without starting your day as a fast. You were still leaps and bounds ahead of that. Your progress is absolutely inspiring. You mst’ve been thrilled getting on those scales today!

Marelda, your dinner sounds delicious. Good luck trying ADF aor 4:3. I admire anyone who goes there.

Well don’t everyone on their losses!

Lmao, I meant “well done” not “well don’t”, that would not be very productive as peptalk 🙂

Good morning….. CG…. you are still doing sooooo well! you lost 2kgs I would lay bets that the cricket was on tele last night & you were enjoying it so much that the chocolate biscuits just made it that much more enjoyable.

MARELDA- still doing well….keep it going

So much to do in the next few days preparing for our trip next week.Hubby needs T shirts so its off to the surf shop this morning with a coffee at our fav spot.

    Enjoy the day……..GO GAL

Fc thanks for your kind words, your right starting the day with fasting does help, these days I never have breakfast, which I used to love be it cooked or just yoghurt and fruit, but the fact I’m not have 7 meals a week, must make a difference. I often have a light lunch then some yoghurt and fruit as a snack, so I still get the goodness but later in the day. I don’t miss breaky at all now, but do have two coffees
GG, enjoy your day shopping with hubby, very exciting when holiday shopping
Have a great day team, going to be very hot here today, so morning chores, washing etc. then maybe wrapping Chrissy presants, and last minute “counting” to see I have everyones gift. Starting to feel the magic of Christmas, beautiful time of year, definately for kids, but the magic of the season still affects me…….CG xxx

I just realised it’s 10 days to my birthday, yes I’m a christmas baby, and I’m setting myself a personal goal to get to be 81. Something. Possibly setting the bar a bit high but one must have goals. Just to enter my new age so much less than this time last year is such a thrill and a personal achievement. AUSSIE DETERMINATION is my back bone so thank you all for your support….CG xx

    I have some news

5 2 with Michael is on this weeks Sunday night program.
People who haven’t seen this please watch.

This is where a lot of us started back in September

Do it it’s great pushing for 500 grams this week to meet my Christmas goal.
