  • Day 3–ABQ–FD

    Was on the fence about fasting after a mere 4 hours sleep last night, but like a few of you have said, Just do it!

    Well, Debster251, the chaturanga dandasana is an insidious little movement that you do as part of the warm-up series. It is an inverted push-up, where you start in a plank and then lower your whole body until you’re hovering above your hands, and then you straighten your arms, bend backward and push the upper half of your body into an upward dog. The first four or five times are quite charming, but by the ninth (end of warm-up) my shoulders are weeping with anger and by the fifteenth (because our yoga teacher likes to ‘suggest’ them throughout the class) I’m full-on cheating and resting my body on the mat during the upward dog. @at included some good videos from Yoga Journal, and I like this one also:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpXmHyO5uRk

    @at I’m going to pocket-plank around 2pm (Mountain Time, or -6 UTC) if anyone wants to join! We’re stronger together!

    @Strawberriesandcream I’m with you on the 800 cal fast days. You can still lose weight, maybe not as fast but it’s a good trade-off for not feeling deprived.

    @lumat I love your term ‘post-dinner cuddle.’ That’s how I feel about graham crackers! I wonder if we can find Alpro soya desserts here in ABQ…

    Day 3, Idaho USA, CD.

    Goal: TDEE or below. Not eating everything my heart desires. Such a hungry FD yesterday, still hungry today.

    Day 3 – USA – FD

    Had the first early breakfast (about 300+ cals) in many moons due to my early dentist appointment. I’m glad my OH did not accompany me. I completely embarrassed myself, crying, sobbing as I got the 4 needles it took to numb me. The dentist finally said, “In future treatments, I suggest you get an IV sedation; one of us has to be sedated and it should probably be you”, lol. I could not possibly take it personally; there were 2 people stroking my hand and talking to me the whole time like a child. Some of us are just completely plain pain intolerant, period! Anyway, no food for me maybe for a few days until everything heals, so I guess weight loss will be a fringe benefit. Maybe I’ll do my first B2B!

    Day 3 – SW WA USA – NFD

    Was there a plank link or just comments/descriptions? I’m thinking of joining in on some planking; I think my knee has healed sufficiently. If it acts up, I’ll back off.

    @metatauta – that sounds like a tough dental visit. Did they do extensive work? As you said, side benefit may be extra weight loss.

    3rd post

    @okeydokey you were my inspiration, you moved forward so fast when you started! During the week and on my FD I don’t have breakfast, I take a light lunch at ~14:00 and have a light dinner at ~19:00 this will be either 200 g cottage cheese with tomatoes or 250 g yogurt with nuts, berries and dried soft apricots or broccoli-chickensoup with crème fraîche. I can have any of these for lunch or dinner, sometimes I eat the soup or the yoghurt twice a day, I just like it this way and I don’t have to think about it. After dinner I don’t eat or drink anything anymore. On Saturday and Sunday I do have a breakfast, one thin slice of home made bread with butter and a soft boiled egg in an egg cup (how else could you eat it). I think this way of eating is easier for me as we don’t have to take care of children, so less food and treats in the house. I think it’s much more difficult with children around. I only have to concentrate on myself (well, sometimes on my DH)
    Your workout is amazing, 75 sit ups, I can’t do any sit ups at all. I could never do that as a challenge. Hugs!

    @metatauta you had a really hard day, take care and take the advantage of doing a B2B

    Day 3 – USA – FD

    Third post: @annemarilyn, it was an extraction of a back tooth that had had a root canal years ago. I lost the crown, then the post within a year of each other. I hadn’t been to the dentist in at least 6 yrs. due to losing benefits and not being able to afford it. There wasn’t much tooth left, and it went very quickly, but my bp went up significantly and I made an absolutely pitiful scene. Not loud, just unusual, I guess for a senior citizen, haha.

    2nd post

    @krisnia – thank you for the advice – great coming from a professional like yourself – I discovered Yoga 2 years ago this November and I love it – my upper body strength has improved so much but still has a long way to go I’m afraid but I keep trying……….
    @snowflake56 – so good to hear that your back is better
    @tea-girl20 @pathos – good to have you on board
    @songbirdme – very wise not to do anything that hurts
    @brightonbelle – I do appreciate your holding firm with regards to abstaining from 🍷yesterday – I am trying to be strong this week too – no wine Monday to Friday and as tomorrow is a FD I’m looking forward in enjoying a nice 🍷 or two on Saturday and Sunday!!
    @metatauta – I feel for you – I’m a real coward where the dentist is concerned – I go for 6 monthly checks and also see a hygienist and I have white knuckles at those check ups ……..LOL
    @chumi – try adding 15secs to each of the variations and see how that goes making sure you hold the position properly or find a more advanced sequence – plenty on line if you look……
    @okeydokey – good session today – I’m impressed with 75 sit ups!
    @penz @annemarilyn – this is the plank sequence I’m following to start with – I’m doing it once a day for this first week; then will hopefully move to doing it twice a day next week and then hoping to start increasing the times I hold the positions by 10 secs each…..etc:-

    Great to see lots of people fasting today – stay strong and you can do this – I’m on a FD tomorrow – is there anyone else joining me?

    Day 4 Pocketeers – Anyone fasting please copy and paste on your post and don’t forget to add your name
    @at

    so sad! No Alpro in the US!

    Day 4 Pocketeers – Anyone fasting please copy and paste on your post and don’t forget to add your name
    @at
    @keetseel

    Day 3 Portland, OR FD
    This is my 6th FD since starting and is the first day I’m struggling with it. I definitely get strength from reading all the new posts. There is just something comforting about knowing you are all out there.

    @strawberriesandcream – thank you so much for the Whoosh article. That is so interesting and helpful!

    @krisnia – I hear you on the heat and smoky air! I work in downtown Portland with the most perfect view of Mt Hood. Today I can barely see across the river let alone see the mountain. It smells like a campfire outside. My thoughts and good wishes go out to our Canadian neighbors who are fighting those fires!

    Day 3-Scotland- FD
    Quick post, just to confirm that I managed not to eat anything at the birthday party. 😉

    Day 3 Cornwall UK – Fast Day

    Successful fast day despite having the grandchildren staying and lots of snacks around!!
    pretty tied today, so hoping for a good nights sleep.
    Good luck everyone. Onwards and down!

    DAY 4 QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA NFD
    Cant say enough how motivated I am by this WOE….it works!!! Down 1.3 Kg in 12 days which is a great start. Love looking at the posts here as it keeps me on track. Lucky that my OH is on this WOE too and having great success. With no kids at home any more it is actually quite easy to do together. Just need to ramp up the exercise but finding it hard to walk in mornings as still dark when I need to be out there. How much water do you think should be on the menu…I’m a bit slack with that and tend to drink tea a lot of the day. Out for dinner tonight so will enjoy some WINE!! Doing alcohol free Sunday to Thursday so this will be a treat..will try not to overdo it though or I may overeat tomorrow. mmmmm….wil TRY! Good luck for today everyone 🙂

    Day 3 UK FD 🌈💃🏼

    FD going well. One meal, steak and veg. Drank water all day 💦🐉💦🐉💦🐉resisted biscuits offered. Visited gym, over an hour, feel good and relaxed and now tired, time for bed.

    Day 4, Qld, NFD. Tomorrow is my first fast day of the month. Looking forward to it. I quite enjoy a fast day and love the little high of achievement the next day.
    I weigh myself everyday because I tend to get slack if I’m not accountable. Unfortunately, the weight comes off so slowly when you check everyday and I get discouraged when I have little gains.
    Anyway, I am committed to this WOL and have managed to lose 6.5 kgs in about 8 weeks. I’m feeling much better. Healthy is a great feeling.

    Day 3, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

    Hello all, busy day here. Did a lot of little stuff around the place, walked through every room and took several photos of each angle of the room. Then I looked at the pictures on my computer and decided what could be removed and put out of sight, in storage or in our guest cabin. I decided to do this because a. I hate clutter of any kind and b. I saw a nearby house for sale online and went through all 95 photos of it, lovely home but WAY TOO MUCH STUFF…. So, my husband and I decided what – when – where and even got together a donation bag of kitchen stuff we had at least three of (we combined homes and built a new place when we married and both already had a weekend place so we had a LOT of duplicates.)

    Everything looks great and I feel much better (and then took updated photos for the insurance agent – need to video as well). Still have plenty of stuff, for sure, but it isn’t overdone.

    Cutting back on the planks as the article scared me a bit, that and the fact that I had a detached retina in 2003 and am not sure how much pressure planks are putting on my eyes. I also have a cataract that I will someday get around to getting removed, I know it is no big deal but just haven’t felt it was the right time yet. I do lots of other ab stuff so I shall survive. But, they were fun and I did see measurable results so for those that are still in the challenge – Plank On !

    Ate a smoothie mid morning that included cottage cheese, nonfat vanilla yogurt, blueberries, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, bananas, peached and flax seed. It was very yummy but very filling, didn’t want a bite for six hours or so. Made homemade egg salad, had a sandwich on toast, a few chips and a Fiber One lemon bar. Pretty good day for a NFD.

    Just finished biking and doing the Ab Coaster so am relaxing a bit before the final walk around the farm to check on the flowers. We got a little rain today, maybe enough to refresh them but certainly not the watering they need.
    Then I will walk around the house and cabin and see how much better it looks. Thanks to my neighbors down the road listing their house for sale. haha..

    Wishing you all a clutter free life…

    2nd post
    @metatauta So sorry 😐 your tooth extraction was so painful 😖 It sounds like you made it through, I understand how traumatic it can be sometimes. Wishing you well, I hope your feeling better soon.✨

    Day 4 NFD Sydney Aus

    Did my first consecutive fast day yesterday! I didn’t know if I would make it but I found it similar to how the one day fast was a few weeks ago, so not too bad. I’m going out for brunch which is my major weakness, so hoping not have a bad day. Trying to plan what I’m going to eat in advance, see if that helps.

    @metatauta so sorry about the tooth extraction. I totally understand where you’re coming from, I’m like that with my eyes. It just freaks me out. Enjoy your B2B if you get round to it.

    Good luck to everyone today, it’s a new day, let’s make it a good one.

    Day 4 Sunshine Coast Qld Australia: NFD:
    @coda, that was per serving. Will check again when I get home. I’ve just finished breakfast in a cafe where I had a delicious Vienna coffee and scrambled eggs, toasted bread and butter. Will endeavour to keep the day under control.

    I know what you mean by deliberate poor food choices HannaWatto. So easily done. I ended up having about half a packet of pistachios mindlessly eating after dinner last night. That put paid to an effective FD.

    Day 4 Australia NFD I did Dry July and while going AF just could not properly concentrate on 5:2 though still lost weight due to the lack of alcohol and generally watching my food. Anyway, I am inspired to get back into it properly. I will join the Pocket Plankers and will join the Monday Pocketeers too. Have a great weekend all.

    Day 1 – East Orange, New Jersey, USA – NFD

    So excited I found this page! Is it too late to join the challenge?

    Day 3 FD St. Louis USA

    @lyonlottie. I am with you on struggles maintaining fast when I’m at home. I have very little problems on working days so I typically fast during the week. We can fasts do not speak to me at all although I tip my hat to those of you who do this. It’s not that I get hungry, but just tend to eat out of habit. Staying busy helps considerably.

    I have a daily yoga practice and teach one class a week. It’s not my full time for money job but I’ve been teaching for so many years and enjoy the camaraderie. I teach for free at two different local libraries alternating weeks. I used to teach at the Y and a couple of different studios. Teaching pushes me to keep up although as I’ve gotten older I find there are some things I cannot do this easily at age 70 as I did at age 60 or 50. I appreciated the post on technique as planks and chattaranga can be definitely challenging. Plank and gives me less problems than chatturanga, I think because of the shoulder injury as well as the joint replacement in my thumb. They are both on the right side. So I do what I tell my students, listen to my body and don’t do anything that might cause me injury.

    I am enjoying the kettle bell classes that I’m attending. The coach I’m working with does an excellent job of keeping an eye on people to maintain proper form. My new favorite exercise is the Turkish get up. When I first tried it I didn’t think I’d be able to do it and particularly not with any weight. So it was wonderful to achieve. I’m not using very much weight yet but focus on form and using the correct muscle groups. I had a pinched nerve in one shoulder that I’m allowing it to heal. I didn’t do it during any sort of exercise. It happened last year when I was having a joint replaced on my right thumb and they had my arm held in an awkward position and when I woke up I had the pain in my upper bicep. I discovered it wasn’t anything in the bicep but a pinched nerve in the shoulder area.

    Looking forward to my vacation and time off work. Thank you for those of you who wished me well. I will be checking in from time to time and plan on sensible, clean eating but probably no fasting.

    All my best to all of you.

    Day 4 | Sydney Australia | FD

    Yesterday was a successful fasting day. I got home last night, had some broccoli and melted cheese for dinner, went to bed and my wife was into some of my stash of very dark chocolate (Lindt 90%). I had a couple of 10 g squares and still came in under my 600 calories for the day.

    Today might be a little more difficult. I made myself an awesome lunch this morning to take to work, about 300g of broccoli and 250g of red papaya. By 10:30 am I had already eaten it all. But at least all of that was only 200 calories, so I’ve got 400 calories for the rest of the day.

    Yesterday we had free food at work – it started out as “Thursday drinks” but our company is mostly immigrants from the subcontinent and the far east who don’t drink alcohol. So it has morphed into “Thursday free food”. I went and checked out what we were having and it was many different varieties of nachos. I knew that I could eat some if I wanted to, but I chose not to because I just wasn’t that tempted. I had a tiny amount of Shiraz (red wine) just for the taste and that was that.

    On the subject of fasting on weekends, I’ve done it **but** I find that the day tends to drag and I spend too much time thinking about food. I’d rather eat with the family while I am at home (or out and about) with them rather than at work. My “week” starts on Monday and finishes on Sunday, so I try to get 3 fasts out of the way by Friday so that I don’t even have to think about it on the weekend. That said, if I have a bad week I’ve always got the weekend up my sleeve.

    Day 3 FD
    I spent the day at the teacher conference and felt weird skipping out on my colleagues at lunch time. I didn’t want to be around 800 other people eating and didn’t feel like explaining my fast day to co-workers. Honestly, I’m feeling a bit irritable today, but not sure if that is from fasting or from spending my summer vacation at a teacher conference. The hunger pangs are not too bad but then my husband brought home fast food burgers and that annoyed me a bit. Oh well, I resisted and I win!

    Day 4 FD Australia

    @sirisan so impressed at you doing the Turkish get up!!!! I seriously struggle to do it with no weight, just trying to get the technique right. You are one fit lady.

    Lots of willpower required on a Friday FD…

    Adding myself to the fasting list today
    @at
    @keetseel
    @ducks_d

    Day 3, Québec, NFD

    Started out as a FD but I blew it at night time, like Î do so often. But I’ll get it right one day or the other.

    Good night or good morning whereever you are located on our little planet.

    2nd post

    Welcome @yvyj13 it’s never too late to join. Have a read of our host @debster ‘s post at the top of page 1 to see how this works. Even though this is Day 1 for you we all start our post with the date. For me today is Day 4, I’m in Australia.

    @sirisan you are an inspiration!

    Day 4, India, FD
    Inspite of 2 FD’s and eating within my TDEE, there is a weight gain of 400 gms. But I can feel my periods coming, so I guess it is water retention?

    Day 4, Emden Germany, NFD

    just a quick post for @mogaman

    @mogaman Happy Birthday to you

    Day 4 – Nuremberg, Germany (business trip) – NFD
    I head home today 👍 The last few days have been exhausting. It’s been really hot here and the meeting rooms for the workshop sessions have no air con. I don’t think what I’ve eaten has been too bad but I’m looking forward to getting back into a good fasting routine.

    Day 4 North Wales NFD.

    Day 4 UK NFD 🌈

    Have a good day all! 👊🏻Whatever it is that gets you one step further to your goal “just do it” today.

    Day 4 Netherlands NFD

    Morning everyone!
    How come I can wake up in the night from hunger but when it’s time to eat breakfast am not hungry? The effects of fasting on my body are still confusing but am not in a rush to start eating – it’s good to prolong the health benefits of I can!

    @sirisan when I started this I was concerned that adding at school would be difficult with all the children around but now realise it is easier when you’re busy! Being able to look in the fridge all day isn’t helpful.

    Got to rush now as visitors from France will be arriving soon. Lots of food and alcohol this weekend methinks. Will have to do my best to be in control.

    Good luck to any fasters today!

    Day 4, Northumberland UK, NFD

    Succumbed to the carb dragon yesterday but didn’t go too far past TDEE which is testament to this WOL and how much better in tune I am with my body with regard to hunger and cravings. Think it will continue as NFD through the weekend, then maybe manage to fast the early part of next week when kids are with grandparents and I’m working. Haven’t managed a proper fast day for weeks, which isn’t affecting the maintenance but I miss the control and want the reset.

    I’m aiming to join the planking challenge, I can hold an elbow plank for around 60 seconds so will start by aiming to do 2 of those daily and then work out how to increase the challenge for me. I would like to find a good yoga or pilates class, but none of those locally are at a time that works for me. Saying that, in school holidays, finding time for the gym is tricky enough.

    @belmc – aim for at least 2 litres, but for this WOL it is acceptable to count the volume of tea in your total

    @amella46 – have you considered tracking an average weight – I am a daily weigher since starting this WOL and seeing a steadily decreasing average is encouraging when the daily fluctuations take you upwards. Also, do you track other measurements, or how your clothes fit for reassurance when the scales say you’ve gained.

    2nd post

    @rahul1905 I find that happens to me before my TOM, but I know everybody is different. Don’t stress about it, keep drinking lots of water, and you’ll probably get a drop all of a sudden as long as you stick within TDEE and do your fast days 🙂 I just don’t weigh myself at all around that week because I don’t want to get in my head about it. Hope it works out for you.

    Day 4, UK, FD
    Rather too much TexMex food and far too much wine last night. And it shows on the scales.

    Day 5, Norway, NFD (did i do this right?)
    I’m new to the 5:2 lifestyle and to this forum. I started on Monday July 31 with a fast day. Went surprisingly well. Had my second fast day yesterday, Thursdag August 3. No problems 🙂

    Day 4 Newcastle UK NFD.

    Day 4 UK NFD

    I felt so rotten yesterday after eating so much the day before, fatigued and painful. I think I must still have been digesting it. I had a total of about 700 calories yesterday. Together the days totalled two full days worth but last night I had a whooosh and dropped a kg overnight! Down to a new low. 163 lbs, 74 kg. The body works in mysterious ways!!

    Day 4, Wales, NFD

    Kept on track yesterday, my lowest FD yet at 570 calories and no hunger or headaches – 5 weeks in and it seems my body is reacting better to FDs.

    Fellow Pocket Winos the weekend begins for me tonight so I’ll be stepping off the abstinence wagon until Monday – promise I’ll drink mindfully!

    Day 4, Newcastle UK, FD

    Adding myself to today’s pocket fasters:

    @at
    @keetseel
    @ducks_d
    @Strawberriesandcream

    Happy birthday dear @Mogoman, happy birthday to you!
    @flourbaby – ah ha – well I agree that abstaining from alcohol definitely improves the look of cankles the next day – lol!
    @okeydokey – thanks – and that track is one of my favourites to sing at Karaoke!! I’m glad to see you’ve got your mojo back 🙂
    @Daffodil2020 and @kokua12 – I can’t remember who first shared the link for the Whoosh effect – but it is a wonderful thing! After a lovely lunch out with friends yesterday and a feast on brie, nuts and crackers last night, I am already enjoying my FD today – the feeling of control is empowering.
    @keetseel – yesterday at lunch my friend recommended the most gorgeous cheesecake I have ever tasted. The base was made with Graham Crackers. We normally use digestives in the UK, so this was a new and pleasant discovery for me.
    @Metatuata – reading about your dental experience has sent shivers up my spine – I’m glad it’s all over for you. You deserve to eradicate some weight after that!
    Yay – @lumat, @lynzm & @fatrabbit 🙂
    @lindasue – your decluttering story reminded me of my Feng Shui inspired clear out. Unfortunately I went too far and had to go back, sobbing, to the charity shop the next morning to retrieve my dearly departed MIL’s teddy bear which fortunately was still there. I also got rid of too many books, including my 5:2 and 5:2 menus books – so need to reorder from Amazon at some point as I’ve had no luck finding them in charity shops so far. But generally I am totally for being clutter free. It feels very liberating and also makes one think twice before buying the latest new gadget.
    Welcome to more new members @tea-girl20, @pathos and @yvyj13 – all the best on your 5:2 journeys.

    Today is a very special day – my Dad is moving into his new home – the removal men are delivering his furniture as I type. it’s been 11 long months since he first decided to move and this is the 4th property that he made an offer on. He is so looking forward to making up his new home and embarking on the next stage of his life. I’m delighted that he is only 3 minutes walk from us – two streets up.

    Have a great Friday friends – Together we are Stronger.

    Day 4 London 🇬🇧 NFD

    Weighed myself this morning and have hit the half stone mark, which is great for 5 weeks in. Very happy. Other half has lost something similar. Had a massive chicken and black bean sauce stir fry last night and felt stuffed afterwards, only 440 calories. Struggled watching the footy without a beer, but I’ll remedy that tonight and not feel guilty. (@steve-toon-taxi-driver that probably gives away my allegiances, but please don’t hold it against me 😉)

    Will struggle for a walk today as hubby has gone to work with the buggy in the car, so will just have to entertain the kids and jump around the lounge to burn some calories!

    Good luck to the Plankers and Fasters today. Planking is not for me, until I sort out my stomach – twins have put paid to crunches and planking for a short while!

    Day 4 Wicklow NFD
    Was doing well yesterday until we called at the services for a coffee and this big bag of Randoms jumped into my hand…. guess what, I ate them all!  What a lush😕

    It’s so great to see so many new faces – welcome to you all.  I’ll update the spreadsheet on Monday, or of course you can add your own name if you wish. Good luck!

    A very happy birthday @mogaman!🎂
    @metatauta even though your situation wasn’t a bit funny, your post did cause a chuckle – except I have an appointment next Tuesday.  Only a check up though, thank goodness! Wishing you swift healing.
    @lyonlottie I only started this WOL when I retired from teaching.  I’m only sorry I didn’t start while I was still working.  It’s so much easier when there isn’t a food cupboard or fridge to open! Our staffroom was always full of sweets though!
    @sirisan – your exercise regime is inspirational!
    @missybear – enjoy!
    @keetseel scary stuff. My yoga/pilates classes have finished for the summer so this plank challenge is welcome.

    Thanks to all the posters for the links.Wifi is not good enough to open them but will save them till Monday. Looks both exciting and daunting!  I’ve only had time to skim the posts, but I’m struck by the support and camaraderie of you all.  What a privilege it is to be part of it!
    Onwards and downwards – JUST DO IT!

    Day 4 – Scotland – NFD
    Feel proud of myself for yesterday, mainly because it has been ages since I managed to fast twice a week (4 weeks?). On tues, I didn’t stick to my plans for the dinner with our guest: I eat a crostino with blue cheese and two slices of frittata rolls, plus the vegetable stew for main and a slice of my chocolate tarte – no icecream for me, though! Overeall, I was happy as I didn’t overdo. And at the moment, this is my priority: avoid binging. On tues my weight was above 60kg, today 58.5. Still far from the 56.7 reached mid June, and then again at the beginning of July before going crazy, but still on the good path. Today my dinner will be a meat pie (strawberryandcream, I always think about you now when I eat a pie!) bought a few days ago from that needs to be eaten. It’s 556 calorie and lots on unhealthy fat, but it won’t be a tragedy as long as I stick to my plan of having soup for lunch and some iceberg salad with grated carrots as a side dish with my pie.

    Debster, would it be OK to re-post the link to the spreadsheet every Monday after you have updated it? I am happy to update it myself, but I’m often in a rush and sometimes I struggle to find the link as it’s many pages back.

    Hello everyone. Started this for this first time on Monday, and had FD on Monday and Wednesday. Quick question, does it make much difference how you space the FD in a 7 day cycle? I’m trying to make them days I work from home, and I’m also avoiding the weekends so at the moment it looks like it’s going to be Mondays and Wednesdays. Conscious that gives me 5 NFD together and I’m not sure whether that it going to ruin things – any thoughts?

    I’m sticking to below TDEE on NFDs, but above the myfitnesspal/Fitbit calorie limits recommended (TDEE is 1880, MFP is 1410).

    Also thanks to everyone for posting, it’s really interesting and helpful to a newbie like me

    @berries63

    I just red Michael Mosleys book, The Fast Diet updated version, and as i undestand, it does not matter what days are FD, they can be spread or just after eachother.

    @berries63 place your fast days however suits you best, you will notice lots of variation on this forum. It’s all about finding a way of eating (WoE) or way of life (WoL) that is good for you and sustainable long term, rather than a short term diet. You learn as you go what works for you and what doesn’t. Everyone is different, and most people on here for a while have adapted their approach as they go. It can be very flexible.

    @debster thank you for doing the August challenge.

    I would like to join in the hope that I have better luck than in July.

    I know I’m a little late but I had chest infection since last Friday which has taken me down the whole week. I hope to get back on board on Monday next week but I’m in.

    Day 4 – USA – NFD

    Thank you all for the consolations on my dentist visit, lol! I needed some TLC and I knew I could get it here!! Don’t get me wrong; I love my OH, but he’s a macho man, so no biggie for him! @yvyj13, welcome from a former NJ girl!!

    The anesthetic wore off late yesterday and I feel great; the residual pain from the needles (I think they had to give me 4) is sore, but bearable. Unfortunately pre-scheduled an appointment for a physical this a.m. Do not know whether I will attempt to eat anything or not; we’ll see.

    Hello all day 4 NFD (Co Down NI)

    Not read all the posts on this pages but saw a few

    @lumat – book mark the page for the google spread sheet and you will be able to find it easier.

    @Mogamam – happy birthday

    @maayyaa – you almost did it right – the day of the challenge is always the day of the month no matter when you started.

    So the scales show me down this week – I just have to build on that although they will go up a little with the weekend. Just reset on Monday, re focus and Just Do It!

    @metatauta – how I feel for you I remember my big sister when she needed a tetanus injection she reacted the way you did, it was quite scary to watch as a little sister. Hopefully if you need any further dental work they will sedate you, for the safety of all concerned lol.
