  • Day 25 NFD 🌈
    Day 26 NFD 🌈
    Day 27 NFD 🌈

Birthday, turned into Birthday week, turned into Birthday month. Sorry @debster251, thanks for being the host and I’ve checked in but have not exactly stuck to th explain this month, excuses, friends, family, holiday loved every minute. 😂😂😂😂

All entitled to a little holiday.

Well I have increased my exercise and I have increased my water, also on the flip side have increased my alcohol and cake consumption this month.

I’m still here though and ready to hit it big time for September, thanks all for still being here, it’s good to catch up on the posts and increase my motivation.

    Xx keep on keeping on

    Day 27 North Wales NFD

    Day 27 Norway, NFD

Just a quick check in, where did this day go.
No no, did not take it as critisism @debster251 😊 I just thougt that maybe i had in bad language said that i was using my scale like several times a day. Im gonna use my Polar scale once more, and that is the last weigh-in day for this challenge. After that, my new one which measure “everything” will be used once a week just to see that im on track. Ordered it yesterday, hopefully it will arrive by mid week.

FD tomorrow, thinking about a b2b, but not sure yet…. but learned this week that a FD for friday/weekend is not for me just yet, maybe later.

Day 27 – McMinnville Oregon USA – NFD

    Day 27 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Busy weekend but not too disastrous – certainly ate to TDEE on both days or just above!!!! and enjoyed a couple of glasses of a gorgeous wine on both days but it’s a FD tomorrow ☺️

@coda – I watched that game Aust V NZ – it was excellent as was the evening game Ladies Rugby Eng v NZ – in both NZ just upped the ante and you can see why they are the best in the world!
@bert1802 – good to hear that you are safe and that your garden was salvageable
@taraga – fascinated about your 9 day fast – so assuming that you take 1/2hr to eat at 4am and again at 7pm; it would seem that you have a total 8.5hr fast from 7pm until 4am then another total 14.5hr fast until 7pm – out of interest can you clarify how many calories are in your 2 light meals at 4am and 7pm? It seems that I correctly assumed that no water during your fast for religious reasons. How are you feeling without drinking and do you drink a lot of water with your meals??? I am sure that you are well used to fasting as part of your religion
@okeydokey – well done on getting well past your August goal 8.35lbs so far and still a few days to go WOW!
@rainbowsmile – just saw your post from Day 26 – hope you made it through and are feeling better today
@slim2fitit – amazing how with time it’s not an issue to just have a coffee or cup of tea when others are having cake as well as you know you can have cake tomorrow if you still want it☺️
@maayyaa – it does sound like you need some new scales which would hopefully be more reliable!
@steve toon taxi driver – 😁wonderful post which I’m sure it made us all chuckle – If you don’t mind I would love to share this with my friends?
@bigviking – happy holidays – see you in September
@saffy420 – I’m very partial to lemon poppyseed cake with a flat white too and as you say this WOL is great for allowing us to do that!
@missybear – after tonight’s red wine I’m joining the pocket winos on a no wine Monday to Friday next week too
@daffodil2010 – well done on getting past your August goal and that drop in waist measurement deserves a happy dance 💃
@rainbowsmile – great news re the D outcome – the future is bright and all yours 🤗
@emma Taylor – do give it a go i.e. fasting after your evening meal until lunchtime the next day – I do this daily whether it’s a FD or NFD and on a FD I usually only have 1 meal in the evening – it’s surprising how it becomes second nature and breakfast is when you break your fast! and does not need to be had on waking up!
@lynzm – birthday months are to be enjoyed and hopefully you can make September your RESET month??

4 Days to go until the end of this August 2017 – 31 Day Challenge – enough time to make a difference and to refocus ready for the September Challenge with @basyjames

    Day 27 – ABQ – NFD

Boy oh boy what a weekend, though I am not in the path of hurricane Harvey, a good chunk of my friends and family live in Houston, and are getting slammed. The people I’m most worried about are my MIL and GMIL. Their house has over 2 feet of water in it and we are waiting for them to be rescued by boat. We lost contact with them pretty early in the morning, and just got back into contact with them a few hours ago. It’s been a rough weekend. I’ve been worrying all weekend and my go to for comfort is food. I know it’s terrible but I haven’t even really been concentrating on what my calories are so I would label both Saturday and today as OOCDs but I think I have a pretty good excuse.

Hopefully the rest of this week I will use as FD & CD days, keeping everything under 1500 cal on NFDs and trying a liquid diet for at least one of my FDs.

Thoughts and prayers to all those being slammed with Harvey and those with friends and family in the area.

    Day 27 – USA – NFD

Second post: @jessyoursize, don’t give 5:2 a second thought until you settle all the issues with your family in TX….you can always reset later! (((Hugs))) to you. Keep us posted if you are able!

    Norway, Day 27, NFD

Wow, OOCD today, but we went for a long, steep uphill walk today, and carrying my youngest that weighs 12 kg, I hope the total did not go over my daily kcal use…

B2B next week, excited and nervous to see how I respond to that. Have ordered miso soup online (can’t find it in the store anywhere!), so I hope to make it a liquid only fast…

@mari84, where did you find the miso online? I read online yesterday that healthshops should have it… went downtown and into every health shop and two asian stores… none of them had Miso… and im so fed up with boullion that i “sick” from the smell 😂

    DAY 28 Queensland Australia FD

Need this FD today after having an OOCD yesterday. Started with the best of intentions and ended with red wine (sorry pocket winos!) rack of lamb and chocolate bullets!! The scales are showing their annoyance with me. Oh well back into it today.
@songbirdme very unusual for us to get a movie before America!! Particularly in my neck of the woods where we even seem to get everything a couple of weeks after our big cities such as Brisbane. We enjoyed it though… I love a true story. @penz we used to have one of those beautiful old movie theatres near us when I lived in Melbourne…like you said big rickety old seats, lots of carpet and velvet….I just loved it!!
    Well done Daffodil2010!! That’s a great achievement.
Seeing the footage of Harvey here…hope all our American friends are staying safe! Thoughts with your family @jessyoursize.
    Have a good week all.

Day 27 -28 Lancaster, PA NFD – FD
    Congratulations
    @daffodil2010 ✨🌈✨ Good for you 🎉✨🎉
@jessyoursize Wow, I hope your MIL and GMIL have been rescued safely. I can see where counting cals has been no where near the top of your to do list. Wishing your family safety and well being.✨
@steve-toon-taxi-driver 👏 You are inherently funny🤣. Your being a member of our group is invaluable✨Thank-you for sharing✨ If it’s ok I will share your message with my friends and family so they will be intune with your incandescent humor 😊✨🤣
Thank-you @at @songbird @debster251 @flourbaby @daffodil and other group members for the Kind Congrats! That I reached a purging of 8.5 lbs this month. 3.5 lbs more than my goal for the month.✨I feel happy and very appreciative that we have our wonderful International group of support.✨😊✨

I’m Starting a FD Pocket list for 27th✨ Lets make it a great last few days of August!✨🌈✨
Please add your name if your fasting on the 27th✨💛✨

I’m thinking of all the heath benefits of Fasting and for Monday and FD’s I want to remember ✨Less is better✨and Fasting is Best✨

Many times we find ourselves in the middle of life changes; I’m thinking I can’t control everything in my life, but I can control what I put in my body✨
    Wishing Everyone Well✨

    Hi to all!!

Aug 27 USA. It has been a crazy week for me looking forward … FD tomorrow.
@basyjames I am ready for September challenge!!!

Got my post date wrong this morning should have been the 27th. I once visited memory but I’ve forgot how to get there now.
I wish I could take credit for that earlier post lol I pinched it off the wife’s Facebook page. It made me chuckle too.

    Day 27 UK FD

Soooo over indulged yesterday, decided this had to be a fast day. ! Reckon I’ve had less than 500 calories so hopefully cancel out yesterday!

    Day 28/ Definitely not a FD/Hopefully a CD/or will it be a NFD/just not an OOCD/Melbourne Australia

I’d planned to exit August with a new low. Life events have sabotaged my best intentions. Too much wine (sorry pocket winos), family and song since Thursday! Loved every minute but not the added girth. Life will return to normal on Tuesday, veer away from plans on Wednesday and intervene again on Thursday. Sigh. Can’t wait for September.

Cannot access the spreadsheet on Google sheets since downloading the latest fix. It keeps crashing. Hopefully I’ll get a chance before the end of the challenge.

@rainbowsmile love the revenge body and the latest outcome
    @jessyoursize how awfully stressful

    Have a great Monday everyone

    Day 27, USA, impromptu FD.

My usual routine is a little out of whack at the moment because I’m traveling with work. So I decided to take advantage of it and had an impromptu fast day. I should still be able to do my normal two days this week so if I can stick to that this will be the first time I’ve done 4:3! At least that will make up for the blowout FD I had last week.

    Day 28 – Tokyo, Japan – FD 81.2kg

I ate a lot and didn’t do a lot yesterday but my weight didn’t go up much either. I don’t put too much weight on scale readings. It is just a number within a range of values. Even if you are on a plateau, if you weight yourself multiple times a day there will likely different numbers showing up.

This morning I noticed my belt is still needs to be shortened! That is a better indicator of what is going on. Soon I have to take it apart and cut off another 5 cm or so. 🙂 😀 🙂

Anyway the scale weight tends to be a lie we all accept. We weight ourselves when we know it is lighter and share that number. Even if we don’t do it intentionally that is what we still tend to do. It is understandable, a scale reading is easier to take than tape measurements and some of those change in ranges too.

The problem is we really truly believe our own lies. That is why people tend to freak out when they see the number go the wrong way even though they have been sticking to the diet.

When it comes to nutrition, lies are often more common than truths.
    * Portion control is all you need, it doesn’t matter what you eat.
    * Exercise is what people need to lose weight. Fat people just don’t move enough!
    * TDEE <== like it is a law and an unchanging number
    * Counting Calories <== Really it is just estimates based on estimates based on assumptions based on measurement techniques that are about 100 years outdated.
    * Calorie <== It is a measurement if thermo-energy released from combustion. I guess the assumption is our bodies run like steam engines. It is sort of a crazy concept.
    * It doesn’t matter when you eat … That one is really trendy right now.

One can go on and on, but it is hard to actually find the truth. So when the numbers seem strange, maybe it is because we never understood them in the first place.

Day 27, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

Hello all, been a busy weekend but wanted to stop by and say hi !

Eating, water, exercise all going well. Maintaining at goal weight.

Got a lot of outdoor work done the past few days, (got stung several more times by my angry wasp friends but survived with less trauma than last weekend).

Hope everybody is doing well, very distressed by the news and can only say with all sincerity, God Bless Texas !

    Day 28, India, B2B FD

Day 27 NFD St. Louis USA
Just barely logging in before midnight. Been busy all day. Plan to fast tomorrow. Starting on my maintenance.

Thinking about those in Texas struggling with floods from hurricane Harvey.

All my best to all of you and may the fast be with you.

    Day 27 Canada NFD

    Loving how sustainable this feels!

    NFD.
Well I’m excited! After my first b2b fast days I lost nearly a kilo and that was after my Friday chocolate bullet/seafood buffet binge. Woot woot!
Hubby’s birthday is coming up late September and he wants to go to the races. My favourite! I really think I could be at my ultimate goal by then. 3.1kgs by the 23rd of September. That is my goal fellow fasters. Lock it in! I am motivated!!

4 more days to go, may meet 1/2 my goal..I’m definitely in the tortoise club 🙂
Here’s to a great week everyone!

Day 28 Meath, Ireland – FD

Morning all and many thanks for the good wishes and encouragement, so many of you have commented and I do appreciate it.

I had a lovely afternoon with DH yesterday, Guinness was consumed, garlic bread and red wine at dinner….and I was fast asleep by 9.30 with a happy smile on my face. 😄
I am up just a pound this morning so happy dance for that 💃

It’s day 1 of this week’s B2B liquid only fast. Very confident I can do this now after last week’s success. We go on holiday on Thursday 31st so I want to throw everything at these FD’s and hopefully have a cushion of weight loss for the inevitable eating and drinking fest of the two week vacation.

    Let’s do this.

Adding myself to the pocket list:

However I barely feel like I’m fasting. A bit of emptiness but mostly I feel normal. Almost 2/3rds the way to breaking my fast.

@taraga — impressive and I wish you well.

    Day 28 FD Melbourne, Australia
Hi all, had a successful FD tody, just coming into evening time here, think I will have some steamed vegies and tuna for dinner.

Hope everyone else on a FD today has been successful too!!
Can’t wait to see what the scales say tomorrow, it’s my weigh in day (once a week).

    Day28 Belfast FD
Despite a NFD which was fairly controlled, the scales are up a couple of pounds, which, so close to the end of my month, may sabotage my final weigh in, which will be disappointing.
@SteveToon Taxi Driver – your cruise sounds great, where are you off to?
@keetseel – should we be wishing you happy birthday? I must have missed it, 🎂🍾 hope you had a good one!
@daffodil2010 – hope you managed to avert your family crisis. My OH is a big motor sport fan. Last year we went to stay with my sister who lives 5miles from Silverstone, and OH and a friend went to the British Grand Prix. Well done on your fantastic inches loss so far, and still a few days to go! We watched the women’s rugby final yesterday. Was disappointed at the outcome, but NZ deserved the win.
@rainbowsmile – the big D is behind you – today is the beginning of the rest of your life!
@bert1802 – I hope you can turn your garden around as well as you can do the hokey pokey!
@emma Taylor – quite a few on this forum follow that regime and it works well.
    Redrockgirl302 👍
@lynzm – life happens! Hope you enjoyed it!
    @at – another great quote.
@Jesseyoursize – dieting is and should be the last thing on your mind. Sending your family best wishes for a safe resolution to their awful predicament. Hugs to you all.
@ dykask – you are so right about the lies and untruths.

Ain’t gonna be easy this week with DH’s birthday plus our wedding anniversary (20 years!!), but will do my best 🙂

@bert I feel for you re. your garden, I hope you’ve still got a lot to salvage. We had a big storm last night with hail. Haven’t dared to out to check my veggie plot yet. Or fig trees. With the hot weather my figs are all ripening at once so I can’t keep up with them.
@losing_it I discovered alfajores this summer. Evil things but soooo delicious. We made the mistake of bringing 3 big boxes back from Spain. Perfect with coffee in the afternoon (hum on NFD of course)
@maayyaa Ready made miso soup packets are great but I usually have a tsp of paste in hot water. Satisfying, cheaper and lower in cals
    @steve thanks for the laugh

Sorry, have been catching up with your weekend posts so there’s delayed reaction here

    Hugs to all

    Day 28 – Woking, UK – FD

Second post. Thanks @missybear 😂😂😂😂 I also posted it was a NFD. I am actually doing. FD.

    I am doing a FD 😂

    Day 28, NFD
would normally be a FD but I’m rearranging it around the bank holiday 🙂

And I’ve now met my goals for August as I weighed in at 12st this morning, so BMI has moved from obese to overweight. May not sound much and there’s still 2 st to go, but it’s a good steady start (loss is 8lb this month).

    Day 28 – UAE – FD (6th day of 9days b2bs fast)

@debster251 thank you for the compliment, the real masters of fasting are the one managing this forums and that master of the masters is @coda who start this!
@coda fasting is not really ingrained in my culture if you exclude Ramadan period for some. We have the prescription but we don’t take advantage of it as it is optional. Unfortunately, the heaviest people in the world :-()

@at I don’t consider 4:30am to 7pm as fasting as it is my feeding period. I am free to eat, but try to eat just at the beginning and end of my fast and usually I drink between 2.5 to 3 litter of water daily.
What I consider fasting is between 4:30am to 7pm when nothing goes to my mounth.
As for the calories, I don’t count calories during my fast or none fast days, I just make sure to eat light everyday and it works for me. this is how I was able to lose 13.5 kg within 2.5 months. it is becoming a habit and thanks for trhe support I received in this forum.

    Day 28…..Florida….FD

On the search of cuke seeds but came home with corn and only 2 cuke plants. I found out a few things though. The farm store is not run by farmers….. I guess I could. Have guess that…. but some well dressed I suppose business man with no farm experience. He pulled all the seeds from their stores, they won’t return until April. Plus, they no longer carry potato or onion sets.
I spoke to the manager…. not to complain but to get some answers…. you can plant seeds in April, they never be ready in time. Oh, my I’ve got to find a new store this one is being run by aliens! But you can buy a miniature pot belly, if you want that sort of animal. Or ducks!

@laurealice….. I love being over run with fruit and veg. With mine, I give a lot away, I have a neighbor down the road who has a pantry box, that I like to fill. People like to give high processed foods to those whom are struggling, so giving them something fresh I think gives them a better healthy variety. Also, you could can them or freeze them for later. Canning is so easy.

@dykask…… I think your absolutely right, there are more lies than truths floating around. I have a couple friends, who sell diet aids and are always trying to get me to buy. My favorite by far is weight loss coffee. Apparently, it only took her 6 weeks and a couple hundred dollars to lose it. So, she wants me to invest and lose more weight by just drinking coffee. Then tells me that starvation is. Not the way to lose weight……. wait a minute who says I’m starving…. wait a minute let me explain…. okay don’t want hear it…..cool but let’s get this straight I’m not starving myself nor do I have to spend hours in the gym…..

Well today is FD for me today. Looking forward to it, it feels like I went a little off the rails this weekend but not really….if that makes any sense!

I was addicted to the hokey pokey then I turned myself around

    Day 28– Colorado USA- FD

I apologize for my radio silence. Just got back from a lovely little camping/ RV/ caravan trip. No wifi out in the woods.

I negotiated my work week to have Mondays & Fridays off, then pick up extra work days as needed/ wanted. During the summer I take advantage of these long weekends living in the Rockie Mountains. It’s lovely having all this hiking & scenery not far from our backdoor!

Did lots of nature walks & also managed to keep up with my “100 Moves” daily. Knees feeling a bit beat up this morning. Ouch. So I will skip my run & deep squats, but treadmill walking ought to be low impact enough to not aggravate them further.
Besides, I’ve now got 5 or 6 pages of this thread to catch up on. So strolling on my treadmill will be a perfect way to knock out both my reading + exercise for the day!

    My progress update so far:
    Week # 1– 153.0 lbs.
    Week # 2– 152.3
    Week # 3– 152.0
    Week # 4– 151.4

If that doesn’t qualify me for the Tortoise 🐢 group, I don’t know what would!! 😃🐢😄
I’m actually pleased with my progress. Slow but steady. Plus, now it’s going into the right direction! 👍🏼

And best of all, I haven’t felt “deprived” or “on a diet.” Intermittent 5:2 Fasting is definitely a successful & sustainable WOL !

    Day 28 UK NFD

So feeling guilty today, my post is very close to @taraga who is doing so well with b2bs whilst I am definitely not doing quite so well. Yesterday’s family catch up turned into an eating and drinking festival. Lots of healthy things to eat but there were pasties – lots of pasties and I haven’t had one for months. Why are they so comforting to eat? Then there was also the cake my sister in law had had made with a picture of me and my OH on our wedding day. Plus Prosecco – lots of that as well. When we came home my OH needed a drink (my family can be a bit loud and tiring if you’re unlucky enough to be the one driving) so out comes another bottle of wine. We brought half the cake home plus about half a dozen of the blooming pasties. Help!

I have to make up for the lost days somehow!

So it’s fast days until the end of the month. I am determined to lose my kilo for this month. No weigh in until the end of the month.

I could not have made it this far without you guys here helping lift me up. I have a lot to do to get the house ready for sale.

We will see how it goes.

@coda thank you. @margo if you are a tortoise then I am a snail!

@bert1208 I misread your post and read cute plants. Had me baffled for a while.

@berries63 that’s wonderful as it official rests your biomarkers so congratulations on that goal.

    ✨Happy to be fasting today!
@lindasue I hope your feeling better after those wasp stings. Big Hugs 🤗 to you. I hope the pain and inflammation wasn’t as bad as it sounds. Wishing you well. My DH had gotten stung by many wasps this weekend after accidentally getting into a wasp nest also. 😔 He did not have the swelling and inflammation, I am happy about that.✨
@amella46 Wishing you well with your goal down 3.1kgs by the 23rd of September!✨🌈✨
    @laurealice Happy 20th Anniversary✨🎉
    @berries63 ✨🎉Congrats ✨🎉on your 8 lb purge 😊this month. 😊

Hi – this has been a terrible month work wise, totally slammed with referrals, etc, think I posted once and truly have not had time to check posts. Really sorry @debster251 for not posting, etc with all the effort you put in.
I have managed to continue with my fast days and tdee and have lost 1.5lbs this month so far. I will try and catch up on posts but really hope all going well for all. The plus side is my youngest doing brilliantly in his a levels so there was some celebrating – including wine mid week back to wine fri and sat eve only again now. Keep on keeping on

    Day 28 – USA (Illinois) – FD

Waking up this morning to the news from Texas. It is so heartening to see and hear the stories of people helping people! Natural disasters seem to bring out the best in so many folks. Our youngest DD in Austin (about 150 miles west of Houston) has only been inconvenienced with rain, some wind, cable and internet out, and lots of leaves in her yard.

My weekend was not so controlled, so going to do a 500-800 calorie FD today.

@bert1802 – had to laugh out loud about your “farm” store run by businessmen who don’t understand planting! There is always the Burpee catalog?

@happymargo – sounds like your trip was well worth any angst you may have over “radio silence.” Glad you got away.

@rainbowsmile – snails and tortoises do make progress! Love that you feel like you’re going even slower!

    Onward and downward!

    Day 28– 2nd post

Just completed One hour & 32 minutes on my treadmill. Walking a decent pace at a steep incline (almost like hiking, but without rocks & tree roots to trip over 😆 )

Used that time to read this thread…almost all caught up now. I’m loving reading about everyone’s looser pants, fitting into jeans, piles of clothes for charity, successful FDs & disappearing lbs/ kgs. That’s what this Challenge is about! Great job all.

Many thanks to @debster251 for hosting the August challenge!
Also to @basyjames for volunteering to keep us going. Please add me to the September Challenge.
