  • Day 23 Norway FD
    Yesterday turned into a pretty good CD i think.I will do the counting pretty soon, but i guess i will end up at around 1100kcal. My TDEE says a little above 1600.

    Also, yesterday was 374 days since i did my first and only 1/2 marathon in Kristiansand,,,I’m even afraid that means it was about 374 days since my 2xu-pants was on…so in due time 🙂 I put them on and also put my roller blades on, and did 8km/52 minutes – 474kcal according to my “bestfriend Suunto”. Strangely i dont feel the work out in my legs…maybe i didnt do enough. I find rollerblading pretty fun and amuzing, so i fill definitly try to make this a more frequent event.

    My OH is kind of “sneaking” into the 5:2..he has been counting kcal’s (oh boy does he need a wake up call in how to count :)…but he has had 1,5 CD’s this week, and last night he actually asked me: Are we doing a FD tomorrow?…so i just said: Yes, i think we should, that way we will get in 3 FD’s this week…. HOPEFULLY he will manage at least another CD, this week, he needs to see a quick result…and if he does i know he would want to keep on trying.

    This might be a FD or it might turn in to a very CD.

    I really enjoy the humor in this group, and all the support. So much fun and educational to read. Now I’m gonna watch Teds Talk on youtube, thanks for the link @quebecoise 🙂

    Happy Days, everyone.

    Day 22 NFD Canada

    Busy, busy day. Ate slowly and mindfully. Enjoyed it all.

    Day 23 Ireland FD

    Yesterday’s NFD turned into a Date Night and I had prosecco, white wine and garlic bread. Everything else was on plan 😏

    I had been accusing DH of sabotage – yesterday’s cooked breakfast tempting me as I leave for work for example – and I was really p##sed off with him. Poor DH. I felt bad afterwards. I have given myself a good talking to as this is a way of life I need to embrace, and I can’t go all pyscho if I smell delicious foods. Hence Date Night ☺️

    So onwards for my second FD of the week and a pound heavier than yesterday.
    I do feel good though. I want to make August goal but time is against me.

    Let’s do this. Good luck today my fellow fasters.

    Day 23 UK NFD

    Yesterday’s FD went well, small green salad at lunch then salmon and salad for tea later. I’m on a training course yesterday and today so opportunities for snacking are limited!

    Today will be a CD, we had our afternoon tea on Monday so I feel I should try to rein it in a bit this week to make up for that. The thing was I got very full very quickly – ended up bringing quite a few things home, including a chocolate/cherry cheesecake which 6 months ago I would have wolfed down. On Monday it was one spoonful and it was far too sweet- not nice. Only 2lbs to Aug target, I can make this by sticking to the programme. More important to me, the magic 200 lb mark is getting ever closer.

    Onwards everyone we’ve got this thing nailed!

    Day 23 – Woking, UK – FD
    245lbs
    And gym water weight back on. Last night was barbell squats with a 25kg bar and squat rows. Hopefully back down again tomorrow.

    Day 23 UK B2B FD

    Decided for the first time to attempt a liquids only FD yesterday and today. So yesterday went well. Found it no harder than keeping to 500 calories so going for liquids only again today. Really just doing this to see if I could and see if the scales reflect a difference.

    Just a thought @taraga… 9 days fasting … please take care. Would be interesting to hear how that goes.
    @okeydokey, hope the dental surgery goes well and you are soon back pain free. Thanks @at and @losing_it for the quote from that wise old owl, Socrates. So true. I can totally agree with your sentiments @amella46. I have been a yo yo dieter my whole life. I must have lost at least half my body weight and put it all back on over my lifetime! This feels different. I haven’t been this light I think since school! For the first time I am confident that this will be the last “diet” and from now on will be my way of life.

    Good luck to all the fasters today. You are the reason I am still here and still losing weight. So thanks!

    Norway, Day 23, NFD

    Yessss! So I weighed myself today, and I am now below that 90 kg mark! I weighed in at 89.8 kg (197lb 15.6 oz), so it is just barely. But hopefully I will never EVER see that 9 on the scale ever again! Sneak mesured around my belly, it has gone from 88 to 84 cm, yay! So onwards and downwards people! My goal for august has been fulfilled (down 4 kgs, started out at 94), but I will GLADLY accept more than my goal. 3 FDs left this month, so that should be possible. Looking forward to my FD tomorrow again, I think it will be needed as I am going out for dinner with colleagues this evening….

    Have a great day everyone!

    Congratulations @mari84!! So happy for you, i guess im excited for you since we are close in starting weight 😊 I havent dared to step om the
    Scale since last week, and i dont feel lighter og smaller either, so im sitting this week out on the weigh in. So hoping to keep following your weighloss numbers 👍 We have the same goal for August as well. You are already there 😊

    Day 23 uk FD
    After 10 days holiday where I tried to stay quite active I managed to put 2lbs on. Hoping that fast days and reducing alcohol intake will see it off! 1/2 inch back on waist which is typical for me!

    Day 23 Newcastle UK 🇬🇧 NFD.
    Feel like I’m into a good routine at the moment.Fast day tomorrow. Maintenance seems to be working so far. Can’t believe I’m at goal and 6 months have flown by since joining this group.
    Keep at people.

    Day 23 UK FD Feeling motivated looking to put in a >500 cal day .

    @coda – well done, don’t think a bit of liquorice will put you off your stride

    Day 3, UK, FD
    3rd day of B2B2B. Finally back below the start point for the challenge. Just.

    Day 23, London, UK, FD (2nd of B2B2B)

    @taraga, I guess if anyone can do a 9 day fast it’s you, especially after you’re epic 29(?) day fast for Ramadan!!! At least you’ll be able to have water this time!!!

    Feeling good after yesterdays’ 1st FD of B2B2B2, I just need to up the water intake…………… if it’s within easy reach I’ll drink it, I just have to remember to fill the water bottle!!!

    @okeydokey, I know visiting the dentist is a particularly fearful event for you, stay strong you’ll get through it and then it’ll just be regular check-ups from then on. Stay strong, I’m joining you with soups and smoothies at the moment, if only for the B2B2B!!!!

    Good luck everyone, we’re nearly there for August, roll on September!!!!

    Hello day 23 Co Down NI FD

    The plan as it stands is to have a green juice for lunch and then after work we are hoping to get my car to the mechanic (hopefully it will go into a gear – any gear rather than be towed) who is back from his holidays. Home to make dinner and the plan is to put mine to the side for tomorrow’s lunch – that way I am not feeling deprived. Then OH will drop me off to yoga. Anything other than this will have to be confessed.

    Day 23, UK, FD

    Wednesday seems to be a popular day for a fast!
    Pocket list thus far:

    @maayyaa

    @liathanail
    @mia139

    @coda
    @msraven

    Let’s do this… 🙂

    Day 23– Colorado USA– FD

    Can’t sleep, been wide awake since 1:09am. 😩 UGH!

    Hate when this happens. Lack of sleep will make me feel groggy & hungry most of the day. Hope I don’t get cranky at work. Ha! But at least I know the next night I’ll be exhausted & sleep like a log. 😴 💤

    Got all caught up on reading this thread. 👍🏼 Which motivated me to just get up & get moving!
    Taking my doggy for a walk, then I’ll hit the treadmill to read more of our Book Club selection. Then bust out my “100 Moves.” May as well make this dead-of-night time useful, since I’m up anyway!!

    Stay strong, Fellow Fasters!

    Day 23 Belfast FD
    I usually fast on a Thursday, but I need to undo yesterday’s silly eating. I decided to paint the ensuite and was doing great until I finished the job, made a cup of coffee and… opened a packet of chocolate biscuits. Oh dear.
    @ Bert1802 – Not so far from Knock is Croagh Patrick, which is one of Ireland’s holiest mountains. Once a year (July I think) thousands of pilgrims climb the mountain, many who are barefoot. It’s a very beautiful spot.
    @taraga – good luck with your b2bs
    What a poetic description of the eclipse @ metatauta. I would have liked to see it.
    @lyonlottie have a great holiday. 16:8 sounds like a good plan.
    @maddyg – well done on your loss even after being on holiday.
    @sirisan – how right you are about the seductive nature of sugar. I let the sugar monster out of the cage yesterday. I couldn’t stop.🐉😠
    @okeydokey – I’m sorry to hear you’re in a bad way. It sounds horrible. Wishing you speedy healing. Xo
    @keetseel – you’ll get there I know.
    @losing_it – loved the sound of your buffet. What did you marinate the Brussels sprouts in?
    @coda – Baps? Lol! We opened the curtains and just lay in bed and watched the lightning (and of course the seconds to the next rumble!). One of the peals of thunder was one of the loudest I think I’ve ever heard. Isn’t nature spectacular?
    Thanks @ducks_d for adding me to the pocket list.
    @quebecoise – I’m in! I’ve written your quote on a sticky and put it on the fridge. I’ve bookmarked the link, – inspirational.
    @amella46 – a very impressive loss. Well done
    @maayyaa – I would love to roller blade but I have no sense of balance.
    @mari84 – excellent results, congratulations!
    @pippet – you’ll soon have those 2lb off.

    Here’s today’s list of fasters from the spreadsheet, if I’ve missed you’re name or you’re also fasting today, add yourself to the list. The more the merrier! I’ve combined two of the lists. Hope I’ve not missed anyone out.

    THE SECRET OF CHANGE IS TO FOCUS ALL OF YOUR ENERGY, NOT ON FIGHTING THE OLD, BUT ON BUILDING THE NEW – Socrates (Thanks @at)

    JUST DO IT!

    Day 23, Wales, NFD

    Well this tortoise is happily keeping on the 5:2 path. To be truthful sweet foods don’t tempt me but red wine is my weakness and still managing controlled mindful drinking so all is good.

    Stay with it everyone, we’re another day closer to our goals.

    Update from my 7 day fast
    ————————-
    Bio-impedance put my body fat @ 17.3% but with over 1/2 of it as visceral fat.
    Skin fold measurement put me @ 18.5%.

    So I’m probably around 18%. About as close as I can come without a better type of measurement. It seems I lost just over 1kg of fat in my week long fast. A little less than I expected.

    I had tracked ~19700 calories burned.
    9000+ from fat
    errors form tracking
    calories form food in body when fast started
    calories form stored glucose
    calories form other cells harvested by body
    ————–
    19700

    or something like that.

    I’m feeling normal –
    When breaking fast I eat around 1500 calories that evening
    Yesterday I eat a lot probably 3500 calories, also I drank a lot of water
    Today I’m eating a lot less, maybe only 2500 calories. I haven’t snacked at all, I don’t feel hunger.

    My strength is fine. I ran 2.5k to a park, did 4 pull-ups in a row and only stopped because of tightness in a elbow I had injured before. The pull-ups were all from fully extended arms. Two months ago I could barely do 3 in row like that and I haven’t been doing any pull-ups. (Before I hurt my elbows I was doing up to 8 in row and over 40 in a workout.) I then ran back home. At no point did I feel like I needed to stop. I have hit 22 push-ups in a set, same as before the 7 day fast. It seems in general my muscles improved some. My endurances seems to have improved a good amount. I wasn’t expecting that.

    I have some tinnitus and in my case it is a pure tone. It got a lot worse during the fast. After breaking the fast I started hearing new tones, but after about a day I realized I’m now hearing sounds from across the street that I wasn’t hearing before. Over the last 36 hours my tinnitus has faded and right now is less than what is was before the fast. I can also stop it sometimes for over a few days by listening to random tones for a few hours. (Hasn’t improved my spelling though!)

    The only problems I had were some mild headaches, a few bouts of feeling a little light-headed during the fast and a short but impressive case of the runs after breaking my fast.

    However it isn’t something I plan to do again soon! I rather be eating.

    Day 23….Florida…..NFD

    Yesterday was another successful 800 calorie day, since I did 2 days in a row, having 800 calories instead of 500 is not bothering me all that much. A NFD today, then 2 more 800 days for me and I’m going to call it good enough for one week.

    @daffodil……. it gets easier my friend. Soon, other people food will not bother you the least bit. I’m not sure how long it’s been since you changed you WOE, but it does take sometime for our mind, body and soul to adjust to what is around us when we are working a good ole fast.
    I used to be aww! I’m wish I could eat that! Ah man, that smells soooo good. But, now I’m like in my head mind you, I’d never say it out loud….. Oh my gerd, look at that don’t tell me your going to eat all that in one sitting! Oh my look how unhealthy that is!
    But wait a minute…. sometime I give in and eat those things and I say out loud….. oh my gerd! I can’t believe I ate all that in one sitting.
    In the end, my friend it all works out!

    @happymargo…… I had a sleepless night last night as well…. bring a pillow and blanket and you can share the corner I’m going to hid in all day!

    @ stevetoon….. Congrats on making it to maintenance!

    @debster…… I think that would be a cool place to visit and walk, not so sure about being barefoot though! I’m going to do a bit more research but sounds like I’ll be adding another stop to my bucket list. I’m very interested in holy sites, maybe it’s my faith, maybe it my love of history, who knows!

    Okay well, I must go a bit earlier this morning as I’m having a slow go at it….

    I was addicted to the hokey pokey then I turned myself around

    Day 23 – London – NFD
    Hi folks! I’ve just read this page and now I’m really looking forward to going back through and reading up on how everyone is doing. I always disappear at the beginning of the week (although I could really do with the support through Monday’s FD!) because on Mon & Tue I work in a field with no internet.

    Incredibly impressed by @dykask – that is a huge achievement. I would never attempt a fast like that as I don’t think I could do it safely, but you sound very well-informed and in control.

    Update for me…
    Day 20 – Herts – NFD
    Day 21 – Herts – FD – 524 kcal, over only by the handful of blackberries I picked in the hedge so not too upset by that. OH fasted with me, and was craving something sweet after dinner (even though the dinners we eat together are higher cal than I had when fasting alone, he is never sated afterwards). V surprised when he agreed to just a square of choc and a mint tea as a treat to look forward to after getting back from exercise (he was the one pushing to go swimming, not me). And then I was quite unreasonably proud of myself when I managed to forego my own square of choc!
    Day 22 – Herts – NFD

    Day 23 – UK – NFD

    Well scales not behaving yet, but I am still pretty motivated, keeping at it.

    @quebecoise – I so agree that most of our weight issues are to do with how we think and act on our emotions. We can all do this when we set our minds to it, but unfortunately, whether it’’s hormonal or whatever it’s difficult to keep control of our choices all of the time. The buzz word ‘mindful eating’ makes a lot of sense if we think about it. Each time we are faced with temptation it is an opportunity to practice making the right choice that makes us feel better, so we can live our best life. I read something like this recently and thought that it makes sense.

    Make the right choices today virtual friends 🤗

    Day 24/CD<1500 calories/Melbourne Australia

    Early check in, tomorrow will be a very busy day with grandparenting duties.

    I can’t remember who asked but there are quite a few here who are maintaining. Check out the spreadsheet. We are highlighted in blue. I’ve been maintaining since April 2015. The secret is to remain vigilant and to fast not only for the weight benefits but also the many health benefits. Thank you @quebecoise for the reminder, a very interesting and motivating Ted talk. My goal is to fast at least once a week or to do 16:8 if I can’t fast. I do watch what I eat but not obsessively. I enjoy good food and wine too much. I love this WOL, it’s the first time I’ve succeeded in keeping my weight in check ever.

    Have a great and healthy day everyone.

    2nd post.
    Although I’m only 0.2kg / 0.5lb below where I started this month’s challenge, I certainly can’t remember my 34″ jeans being this baggy 22 days ago. Despite the wine and the relapses, it feeels like something is moving in the right direction.

    @bigviking – You got that right! I’m up 5kg since I ended my 7 day fast. However I tried on my slimmest pair of pants and they still fit just as well as when I was fasting. Nothing like moving in the right direction. 🙂

    My body is thanking me for the return to clean eating. Even my sleeping is affected when I step out of line.

    Bert, nearby we have this beautiful village, where pilgrims still climb the hill on their knees for penance. To add to your holy site bucket list!
    http://ut-pupillam-oculi.over-blog.com/article-15816072.html

    Tomato seeds are drying 🙂

    Day 23 – USA (Illinois) – CD

    Keeping at maintenance level on the scale this morning. Yeah, even after eating a bit more calories than I meant to yesterday out to lunch with friends. I’m intentionally not going to a lunch meeting today because the catered lunch is always too much food.

    @quebecoise — amazing TED Talk. Such great research and findings. I’m sharing this with all my aging friends on Facebook!

    @onahealthyhigh — I’m with you on maintenance and being very careful even on NFD’s. After seeing Dr. Mattson’s TED Talk, I know I’m doing the right thing for my aging brain! (I’m 69….)

    Onward and downward!

    Day 23, Rocky Mountains, US, FD/CD

    Yesterday’s FD morphed into a NFD because I had to finish the leftovers from the solar eclipse party.😅😅😅
    Really, ‘had to’, nobody forced me to put the leftovers in my mouth. But I could not let them go to waste…..

    Today I aim for a FD @ 800 cals or a CD.
    Still maintaining within my weight allowance. I allow up to 5 pounds of fluctuation and really happy with this wonderful WOL/WOE.

    Have a great Wednesday all around the globe! 🌐😊⚘

    Day 23 Massachusetts USA FD Today is in-between a family entertaining day and a kid’s birthday party day- so it has to be a FD! I did well yesterday, staying under 900 calories, mostly by eating only two meals and 1/2 of a banana with my evening tea. I’m getting good at “okay, what’s in this house that’s nutrition rich/calorie poor?” There’s always something- apples, bananas, blueberries, mixed greens, carrots…

    Day 23 – USA – FD

    @dykask, I also have tinnitus, but I saw a very short YouTube video by Dr. Eric Berg that talked about a possible way to get rid of it…had to do with the 8th cranial nerve in the back of the head. I tried it and it didn’t work; he warned that it doesn’t work for everyone. Might help? My sound is like a tension wire and constant. If I focus on it, it drives me crazy, but most of the time it’s like white noise. @stevetoon, congrats on reaching maintenance! Looking forward to that, but might not be until 2018. Adding myself to today’s fasters and might try a liquid one, as the scale has been unkind in the past 2 weeks with a variation of 4-5 lbs. increase!

    Crazy busy week for me. Day 23 will be a NFD for me as well. Akron OH. Have a great day you guys.

    Day 23 – SW WA USA – NFD, maybe another FD

    With the encouragement and example of others on this forum, I went for a liquids FD also yesterday; probably close to 100 calories with the cream & cashes milk in coffees.

    Today is the 1st day of school responsibilities. I’ll start out liquids only and see how the day goes.

    There are several of us around the 200 mark and this time I’d like to go down below with some of you; like our recently joined Norwegian friends. Earlier @fatrabbit passed me by. I know our journeys are all different but it is fun to do it together & cheer each other on.

    Off to training. Will catch up on the rest of the posts later.
    Together we are stronger!

    whoops “cashew” milk; not “cashes”

    Day 23. I think? NFD

    I had a good mindful food day yesterday, and managed to overcome cravings. I think, tho, I’m going to term it mind-first eating. I need to engage *brain* before I listen to my gut-brain. How many times have I automatically reached for food without FIRST thinking about it.

    Also had a good night’s sleep; probably the first time in weeks when I have not woken at 0300, 0400, 0500. I feel for those of you who did not get a decent kip in the dark hours!

    Feeling lighter in myself, tho I dare not step on the scales for fear of them not confirming how I feel. Then again, I’ve always said I really don’t care how much I weigh – the scales just show a number after all. What’s a number? What’s more important is how I feel in myself.

    Day 23—ABQ—NFD

    Tonight is dance class so I’m going to front-load my calories in order to have lots of energy. Yesterday someone brought doughnuts in to work…from a really good doughnut shop and I “only” ate the bacon off the top of the maple-bacon one (the person who got the maple-bacon doughnut didn’t want the bacon. Go figure!). Anyway, had a good, 796-calorie FD with a successful weigh-in before 5 pm breakfast. 1 lb. to go then maintenance.

    @debster251, I happened to glance at my driver’s license and was kind of amused to see I’d listed my weight at 135 lbs. That would have been thirteen years ago, upon moving to New Mexico. I briefly entertained the idea of adjusting my goal but honestly I’m pretty happy at 145 and don’t really want to go back to my 30s anyway. As if!

    Go @taraga! 9 days is a big deal…I know you can do it. Be sure to check in regularly and take good care of yourself.

    jessyoursize—What park was it…North Domingo Baca?

    Losing_it— Great idea for eating with other people. I might need to borrow it.

    Quebecoise—Yes! The brain power boost was one of the reasons I wanted to try this WOL. I’m not sure it’s working for me but I have sleep problems and take medication that might be interfering.

    Amella46—I have heard that maintenance means going down to 1 FD per week. I suppose it depends on what you do the other six days, though. It seems like rather than a single number, it needs to be holding on within a range of a few pounds. I would also be interested in other people’s experiences here.

    @Stevetoon , what are you doing for maintenance?

    Congrats, Mari84!

    HappyMargo—Sorry to hear about your poor sleep. It can ruin the whole day.

    Day 23 North Wales NFD

    Day 23 NFD St. Louis USA
    Weight 131.4 goal was 132

    So I’m feeling pretty comfortable that I can maintain my goal weight which was 132 pounds. When I first hit 131 and then bounced up I wanted to be sure I was where I could maintain what I’d lost. I’m going to continue to fast one day a week and monitor how I’m doing. I finally lost an inch around my waist and belly as well. That was the most difficult. Can I continue doing the monthly challenges on maintenance? I think I’ve seen others here that are doing that. I so enjoyed the support and the shared wisdom.

    Need to catch up on post again but didn’t want to comment about the bacon doughnut. @keetseel I don’t think that would tempt me but I’m not a big donut eater. I’m also not much of a bacon eater as I typically don’t eat beef or pork. But I’m not gonna knock anybody’s food because I have become a huge fan of my morning toast and vegemite. Had never heard of it before and now I look forward to my non-fasting days and having it with my morning coffee.

    On a more serious note, we are supposed to hear something about my brother’s condition and treatment today. I posted earlier that this is his third round with a cancer diagnosis, this time in his brain. Again, thank you for the support I’ve received here. We all go through painful and difficult times with our loved ones. Sharing our pain as well as our joy can help us through it.

    All my best to all of you and may the fast be with you

    Day 23 – Hampshire, UK -FD

    Feels like I haven’t posted in years, i think its been 10 days maybe, sorry been so busy with life that I never get a chance to catch up on here.

    Just wanted to drop a note to say I am continuing on my 5:2, its just under 3 weeks for my vacation so I am being super good and exercising to try and hit my 68kg target before I go away.

    Hope everyone is doing well and August has been kind to you, mine has been a bit of a yo yo but I am working hard in the gym and I feel good so not too bothered about the scales going up and down 🙂

    Day 23 – FIN – FD
    Day 22 – NFD
    Day 21 – NFD

    My attempt at a fast on Monday fell flat on its nose after the hunger dragon got the best of me… With three ice creams and a pasta dinner, I ended up at around my normal TDEE. I am thus compensating by fasting today and plan to do this week’s second fast on Sunday. I had been contemplating doing a b2b by continuing the fast until tomorrow but don’t think I can manage that in my current state of mind.

    Planking challenge, today’s session:
    65 sec high plank / 40 sec elbow plank / 35 sec elbow plank right leg raised / 35 sec left leg raised / 40 sec left side plank / 40 sec right side plank / 35 sec high plank / 70 sec elbow plank for a total of 6 minutes. I feel like I’m starting to reach very challenging levels as my abs started shaking from the effort during the last minute.

    Day 23, Emden Germany, NFD

    @quebecoise very interesting talk

    @sirisan thinking of you and your brother, hard times

    @at how is your friend doing?

    @okeydokey that’s a lot to go through, let us know when you have to undergo the surgery, so we can virtually hold your hand

    Take care eyeryone!

    Day 23 – McMinnville Oregon USA – FD
    I weighed myself this morning and I’m down 2 pounds for the month which is actually better than I expected after all the partying I’ve done in the last couple of days.
    I had a good day yesterday and will try for a b2b today.

    I had to google  Catherine Wheels as I’ve never heard of them!!

    Day 23 California USA FD

    I’m doing my FD a day early this week since we have houseguests coming tomorrow for the next 4 days. I’m at 135.8 lb, 61.6 kg this morning and it would be nice to drop into the 134’s by tomorrow morning. But even seeing 135 on the scale makes me feel good.

    @sirisan – Saying prayers that your brother’s treatments will be easy for him. I have 2 friends nearby who went through brain cancer treatments in the past, one surgery and the other radiation and chemo and both are long term survivors. But it was pretty scary at the time.
    Congrats on reaching your goal weight. I’ve also become a fan of Vegemite, thanks to many of my friends here on the forum, and have it on toast most days. It’s amazing how much we influence each other and open up to new ideas, both on the 5:2 WOL, and other things. I don’t think I would have stuck with the plan since mid-May without all of you. A big Thank You to everyone for being here!

    Fast day tomorrow, Thursday, followed by two more next week to complete the August challenge – where did the month go?

    Day 23 Lancaster, PA 3rd day of B2B2B FD’s
    I really like your quote @at, It is a theme that is beneficial for my life and for my family right now.
    “THE SECRET OF CHANGE IS TO FOCUS ALL OF YOUR ENERGY, NOT ON FIGHTING THE OLD, BUT ON BUILDING THE NEW” – Socrates
    @bigviking Good to read you are also doing B2B2B. I keep remembering that when fasting on the 2nd, 3rd days and so forth after that the physical body is free to increase the strength of the immune system, increasing our health and decreasing blockages in our system that would cause distress and aging!✨Keep your eyes 👀 on the prize. The healthy, leaner, stronger prize😊
    @at Thank-you for the 🤗🤗🤗It’s becoming clear that I have been procrastinating about making the appointments for the Oral surgery. I believe; it’s better safe then sorry.😊As with most things, I usually fully research before I do them.😊I know I’m going to have to have the surgery. I’m hoping for safe successful procedures.😊
    @losing_it I love your chat name😊Thank-you for your kind wishes. I agree now is the time for liquid nourishment😊less painful✨
    @coda Thank-you for your kindness, I’m trying to visualize success, healing and health
    @quebecoise Thanks✨for very inspirational and practical information about sugar and fasting and the brain. I will watch the video.

    @mia139 & @debster251 Thank-you for the good wishes✨
    @flourbaby Good luck to you for the B2B2B… We can do this✨ Thank-you for the compassionate thoughts, I will just have to force myself, 1 step at a time. I’m hoping that the end result will be a good one. I’m hoping positive visualization will help!✨
    @happymargo Good for you! I bet you’ll sleep better tonight😊✨ 😴
    @dykask I am impressed by your observation and recording abilities as you succeed on this journey. I’m interested in knowing how and when the fasting is helping to bring health✨Thank-you for the info.✨
    @yolina 👍I agree✨

    Best Wishes Everyone on your successes✨

    ✨We Got this!✨✨

    Day 23 Gozo, Malta, cd

    Good controlled day at around 1,050 calories.

    Onwards and downwards, good night everyone.

    Day 23 – ABQ – NFD

    Yesterday’s FD went really well! I actually wasn’t hungry most of the day, and though I knew I had 56 cals before i hit the 500 mark (and usually I would have taken them) I felt really great about just going to bed!

    Today’s NFD I’m eating kind of light since I’m going out with a few girlfriends to celebrate their birthdays. It will be hard to resist drinking any wine, but I made a commitment to myself and I will stick to it.

    @amella46 I too have been a yoyo dieter, losing the weight I need only to gain it all back as soon as I stop dieting. I want to be healthier for my daughter and seeing this as a WOL instead of a “diet” is my best chance! And awesome job on losing some kgs! Keep up the great work!
    @mari84 WAY TO GO!!
    @awilson Congratulations on the 2lb drop!
    @keetseel Awesome job on getting so close to your goal!! I am rooting for you!! And I know the donut shop you are talking about and OMG I can’t resist! They make the BEST ones, and I know my morning and goals would be shot if someone brought them in! The park we went to is one on the west-side, its called A Park Above — really awesome and so many places for kids to play on equipment, splash pads, sandpits, grassy areas, tons of slides, even a music area! It’s really awesome and I highly recommend checking it out!

    Seriously GREAT JOB TO EVERYONE!! I feel like I’m missing a few names but we are doing really awesome!! Just 8 more days guys! We can do this!!

    Day 23 – Cumbria UK – NFD

    Yesterday’s FD went very easy – drank lots of water and tea with a dash of skimmed milk and a glass of Kefir before bed – total of 204 calories consumed but did a 5km hike and a 1.5hr yoga class.

    Broke my fast at lunchtime with a flat white coffee (semi skimmed milk) and 2 macaroons – well it was what I fancied!!!!! nothing else to eat until dinner this evening which is steamed mixed green vegetables and a fillet steak with a low fat home made mushroom sauce and this comes in well below TDEE even with a large glass of wine 😇

    @losing_it – love your idea of a build your own salad bar!
    Re home made kefir – no need to disinfect anything just use normal soap and water but make sure you rinse all the soap residue out of whatever container you are using. I usually strain the kefir into a jug and put the grains back into the mason jar (that I ferment my kefir in) and top up with fresh milk and my next batch is off fermenting – I wash the mason jar that I ferment my milk in, only once a week and I wash it using just water and no soap – and my grains are healthy, I have grown so much that I have shared it with friends. I definitely prefer my homemade kefir = it’s cheaper and has more healthy bacteria in it than the shop bought kefir. I sometimes second ferment mine with fruit (raspberries are my favourite with blueberries a close second) or just with lemon/lime peel (lovely in hot wether as very refreshing)
    This link might be helpful but google and you can find lots of sites which have helpful guides/videos

    @coda and @lindasue – loved the discussions re “Baps” 😉
    @quebecoise – brilliant link to the TED talk – thank you x
    @sirisan – you and your brother are in my thoughts x
    @snowflake56 – Thank you for asking – my friend was good at my recent visit – she coped really well with her first chemo therapy but she has been told to expect more side effects from the second session – we had a lovely day out in Southwold and enjoyed a lovely seafood platter for lunch but she was a bit tired from the day out but as she said it was a pleasant tired ☺️and I met her again later in the week for a coffee and a chat.
    Thank you @okeydokey and all those who liked my Socrates quote – much wisdom from so long ago! the 🤗 are definitely there for you – get the appointment made and you will not regret it – we will be holding on tight to you xx

    For those who asked the quote for “Losing weight is a mind game. Change your mind Change your body”
    is one I found and it so resonated with me in terms of this WOL!

    Some have asked about maintenance – I have been following the 5:2 WOL since January 2016 – went from 75kg to 55kg – I reached maintenance in December 2016 and have stayed below my target target weight since 7/12/16. I still do 2 x FD each week and I follow a 16:8 or 18:6 day on my NFD but no longer worry too much about calories eaten on NFD and this allows me to have treats and enjoy my 🥂🍷 on 3 or 4 days a week – Personally I am never going to veer away from this WOE that allows me to maintain my weight, enjoy good food and wine and hopefully I’m doing something for my long term health! I certainly feel good on this WOL, full of energy, asthma under control and cholesterol levels near enough to normal and I love the feeling of being in control!!!!!!
