The best nutritionist is YOU. You need to take the time to study nutrition, so that you understand what you’re doing to your body and can feel responsible for your own health. Get reading, thaoly. Just one bit of advice: don’t believe everything you read, especially if it’s not backed up with science. You can experiment with your own body and see what works for you, as long as you normally eat some protein, some fat and LOTS of vegetables.
I’m in Oz, not the UK, but something I found useful when looking for a suitable dietitian, was the website for their registration/accreditation body. The Australian one allows you to search based on location, they also tell you about complaints and deregistrations, and each dietitian lists which days they consult and which specialities they focus on. I was able to use these functions to find someone who consults in my region and who specialises in eating disorders (including binge eating). It may be worth doing some internet searches to see whether there is something similar in the UK. It doesn’t help you pick just one perfect dietitian, but it can help you get to a good shortlist.
I really don’t want to offend anyone or make little of anybody’s infirmity but the truth is that since the 1970s we have all been binge eaters. The food industry has got really aggressive and very sophisticated in it’s advertising and selling strategies since the 70s. The food advertisements are not just in the commercial breaks, the more subtle ones are in the programmes themselves, in East Enders, Corrie and even in the crime series. Vending machines are everywhere, in every nook and cranny and they always sell the dangerous stuff – coke, crisps and Mars bars. It’s not unusual to be overweight, it’s literally normal (= the norm). 2/3 of North Americans are obese and Europe isn’t far behind. The Mediterranean diet is a myth. I live on the Med and it’s donuts, churros con chocolate and pizza here. And instead of 3 meals a day, we now have 6 and snacks as well.
Eat as many veggies as you like and 1/2 pound of protein a day. Cut out the carbs but don’t worry too much about fat, your body needs that. And don’t drink calories. It’s not rocket science.
You have a lot of nutritionist in London, I understand it can be a tough job to sort all of them out.
I myself use the site findoc to look for a doctor in London, not for nutritionist but for other medic.
My sister used to see Amandine Auteserres when she was in London. She’s really good. I guess that’s her profil, just have a look if it help : https://www.findoc.co.uk/specialist/london/nutritionist/amandine-auteserres
Good luck for your challenge
I think you should start to love yourself thaoly. You should be confident about yourself and not looking down on your person.
