  • Hey, greetings from Australia. I started the diet today and I’ve found it really hard. For breakfast I ate an Apple, lunch a salad and dinner a small chicken wrap (all in all about 400cals), but I’ve found it really hard. I usually eat a lot so I guess I’m not conditioned to it yet xD. I’ve been starving for a few hours but I’ve toughed it out. I also felt a bit sick earlier, because like an idiot I played basketball for 4 hours :D. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice for someone like me, I’ve tried dieting before but failed. Any tips for filling recipes that are low on calories, and any other relevant tips. Thanks everyone, I’m glad to be joining this community!
(ps: I’m 17 with a bmi of 29, aiming to lose about 20 kilos).

Hello Zyopy and welcome to your new WOL with fasting.

Lots of the questions that newcomers have are answered here: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

500kcals is recommended as the kcal intake for women on a fast day. On a non-fast day, you eat to your TDEE (as explained in the above thread).

I’m not surprised you’re feeling a bit washed out playing 4hrs of basketball on a fast day. Yikes. You might want to get accustomed to fasting first before you’re fully OK with such a volume of strenuous activity on a fast day.

There are a fair number of recipes on this site. Take a look through some of these threads for what might suit you:

I hope that you find out quickly whether IF/5:2 or whatever pattern of fasting you adopt is a good match to your life and that it helps you to meet your health and other goals.

    Good Luck.
