Day 27 – UK – NFD
Down 6lb so far! π I’m so happy! So far it has been the easiest ‘diet’ I’ve ever tried in terms of following, and the most successful too! I don’t feel like I’m having anywhere near as many obsessive thoughts as I have when eating under maintenance and counting calories every single day. I find it so simple just to eat to enjoy one day, and then stick it out til dinner the next and have something I’ve batch prepared and counted.
Good luck to everyone else taking part – just a few days left now! x

@bert1802 Very good information! Sometimes we can all get back to the basics.β¨π
@sirisan Congratulations β¨πon meeting your March goal.β¨ To answer your question I am sincerely trying and hoping to continue on my losing weight through April. The goal was 10lbs in March but I actually lost 15 lbs. My Goal in April will be either 10 or 15lbs to lose.β¨You can join the April group: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/30-day-april-2017-challenge/#post-199403

@bert1802 I love πreading your postsβ¨Pecan pralines sounds delicious. Is that similar to pumpkin pie?
@georgia83 Good for you! I feel like we can educate some people about fasting some of the time but we can’t educate all the people all the time. I’m glad your able to do what’s good and right for you! Looking forward to hearing from you in April also. Here’s the link for the April Group https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/30-day-april-2017-challenge/#post-199403
@pamie I just saw your post. My mother had coeliac disease(while she was alive.) I have symptoms haven’t been tested. If I eat something with wheat gluten in it. I get sharp pains in my gut. Terrible headaches and within 24 hours start to violently throw up. It is hereditary. My immediate family is gluten intolerant. My daughter has violent issues sugar causing high blood pressure, head aches, chest aches, mania and distressing emotional issues (only after eating sugar). It’s difficult because we can accidentally eat the gluten or sugar and it can be a vicious cycle. We found that eating gluten would cause inflammation and pain in the body. Which would set up a craving for eating sugar to stop the over active immune system. I’ve stayed away from gluten (I know it’s hard. It seems to be every where even in sauces on vegetables. Places I wouldn’t have thought. Not eating gluten can stop that part of the cycle. I try eating fresh saladsπ Eating Vegetables and broth that are anti inflammatory. There are many other nutrients that I have found to help if your interested. Fasting has helped me. In our case sometimes less is better. I Drink plenty of warm lemon π water with Stevia. Cheers to your recovery sweetheart, I hope you feel better soon.πβ¨
@dykask Warm wishes to you on your fasting dayβ¨ Thank- you for the information. In the initial BBC video of Dr. Mosley they talk about during Fast burning off the “junk protein” this could trigger dormant viruses (mostly protein) causing flu like symptoms. That can be burned off also. The old saying starve a fever. When the body is sick one of the initial healing things it naturally tries to do is stop eating. Thank- you for reminding me of this. I will remember the healthy aspects of fasting as I fast this week.π please join our April group! I love reading your posts!β¨π

That’s commitment @tillergirl. 3lbs loss ……… π
2nd post –
@okeydokey – your March weight loss is an inspiration and thank you for all your positive messages and commitment to April!!
@at – you have done such a marvellous job in March, you are a star βοΈ
@gopackgo – I’m normally a good cook and meal planner but am so keen to wrap up March at least where I started that I’ve fallen onto packaged meals. I can already tell they don’t taste quite right but I’ve bought them and they are easy and my OH is away… love the idea of adding greens. Tonight I’ll add blanched rapini!
@gemma40 – welcome!
@metatauta – my Cruella is the big scale at the Y, she is scary!
@strawberriesandcream, @fatrabbit, @coda and @redrockgirl302 – great research and reporting on the new 5:2! Am reading your posts with great interest π
@pamie – I totally understand where you are coming from. I’ve spent most of March under a cloud of discomfort and woe. But it’s clearing and I’m getting back on track – you will, too! Think about whether you’ve changed anything recently. See if you can make greater effort to map out your meals so that you don’t fall victim to unknowns. Put yourself first. Like @okeydokey I, too, am gluten sensitive and the waves of inflammation that follow are tough to bear. I’ve also heard good things about FODMAP.
@fayefaye – β€οΈ To hear about your dress
@tillergirl – awesome first week!
-second post –
Sorry, guys, but I just had to post this since you all will understand. I just entered my info in the tracker thing on this site and my BMI went from 32.4 to 30.8, and my waist-to-height ratio from .53 to .50. I’ve lost 10.4 pounds in two weeks and that’s simply amazing.
BUT … here’s why I’m elated right now. I bought a dress from Amazon that I loved, a lightning-deal thing, and when I got it, I couldn’t even zip up the back. I remember looking in the mirror at the back just looking like it was flayed open, can’t get the zipper up, and feeling that feeling when you’re like, ugh, how did I get this far …
I just tried it on, and it fits. Zipped up with complete ease. WOOHOO!
January 23rd I was 200.4 pounds. I lost ten pounds, but then gained 5 back, and started this 5:2 journey two weeks ago, so since the end of January, I have lost 15 pounds. I am convinced that this WOL works by the way the pounds and inches are dropping. @okeydokey is also a total inspiration as it clearly is working for her, too! I know this heavy of weight loss isn’t sustainable, and it will slow down, but for now, WOW. I’m so happy. π
– second post –
I just had to share with you guys, because you all will understand.
I was entering my data in the tracker thing on this site, and my BMI went from 32.4 to 30.8. (By the way, I only use that as a guideline – even when I was a very healthy size 8, that chart shows me as overweight. I’ve got curves, ya’ll. Lol) My height-to-waist ratio dropped from .53 to .50. I’ve dropped 10.4 pounds in 2 weeks!
But, this is the awesome part. Back in January, I ordered a dress from Amazon, a cheap lightning deal on a very cute dress. When I got it, I couldn’t even zip it up the back. I remember looking in the mirror looking at this dress flayed open because I couldn’t zip it, and feeling that defeated how-did-I-get-this-way feeling.
On a whim, I just tried it on. Zipped up perfectly, with ease. WOOHOOOOOO!
I’ve lost 15 pounds since the end of January, and 10 of those in the past two weeks. I am thoroughly convinced that this 5:2 WOL WORKS. @okeydokey also has extremely impressive first-month stats that are so inspiring! I know that this amount of weight loss isn’t sustainable and will slow down, but wow, what a great start!
Day 27/NFD/Aus
Nearly the end of March already, can’t believe how quickly it’s going. Broke my fast with a bowl of homemade vegetable soup topped with a couple of poached eggs, chilli, spring onions and Vietnamese mint. Yum
@Gopack go – what a wonderful feeling. It can only be downwards from here.
Stay inspired everyone. Have a happy and healthy day.
Day 27, FD, USA
Staying busy with a hot yoga class following by grocery shopping and a long errand made it easier to fast until my 5:30pm dinner of cauliflower soup. (Trader Joes – calories already figured out). trying to make the ADF as easy as it can be. Drinking tons of water and chamomile tea helps — and the warm tea soothes my emptier tummy! (lol!)
Hello. I’m straying madly at present especially with my sister up from Melbourne. I want to wish Bert a. very happy birthday as I know we have a lot in common and our birthday is one of them. I feel she will have a great day. Sorry I’m out of touch with the thread right now. Still in free fall but plan on jerking on the reins by April fools day. Starting the Obesity Code again. Congratulations to all those keeping the faith. πππ
Day 27 Surrey UK NFD
Sorry @at I thought I had pressed the submit button on Friday but obviously didn’t π€¦π»ββοΈ I’m fine thank you, had a great weekend with family in Norfolk so really perked up.
Day 24 NFD – weigh in 143lbs (.5lb down on last week, disappointing but going in the right direction!)
Day 25 NFD
Day 26 NFD
Having over indulged over the weekend, I will be getting back in the saddle tomorrow with a FD.
UK Day 27 FD
Day 26 NFD
Day 25 NFD
Day 24 FD
Work /life balance is out the window at the mo. But keeping up the fasting. Almost easier to do 5 days midweek when I’m busy, busy. Happy with weight loss and seeing that my efforts are worth it. I’ve now lost over 12kg since starting 5:2 back in mid Sept 2016. I tried on a Levi’s shirt I wore at Uni almost 30 years ago – it’s baggier than when I was there (I think… Possibly the same, but definitely not tighter!).
Hope you’re all doing well.
Keep on, keeping on… π
Roll-on April! Eh?
We’re all fasters aren’t we?
Well done @gopackgo
12kg (26.4lb) down since I started and I am running out of clothes. Trousers (pants in the US [- but here pants means mens underwear π ]) All very confusing, but I know how overjoyed you must feel. The upside or downside, is having to buy new clothes. If you have money and like shopping you should spend the cash you save from not eating much on new clothes.
Day 28 NZ NFD
First of all a BIG thankyou to @onahealthyhigh @strawberriesandcream @okeydokey @blueninjamum for your kind words and encouragement. I’ve just been to the library and got out a couple of Fodmap books, haven’t looked at them yet as I thought I’d catch up here first. I feel blessed to have found this forum. Interesting about the sugar reaction. I am very diligent regarding the dairy and gluten but I have to admit the day I got the bad pains I had a little sugar binge. On reflection I shall now steer clear of refined sugar. I’m feeling really positive today so once again a huge thanks.
Happy birthday to @fuvvie and @bert. Have a wonderful day.
I just went over and posted my admission papers for acceptance into the April challenge.
Two things, I can not find my post after accidentally hitting submit before I was ready and I realized I didn’t have an ending. So, I guess I need some suggestions?
FD today all is well…..
Okay well I’m off I’ve got to find my ending
Peace be with you!
Day 28 – Tokyo, Japan – FD (#3 of 3) 76.9kg (BMI 25.4)
My weight this morning is the lowest I’ve seen since the early 80’s! I probably got that low a few time after a very hard workout and being very dehydrated but this was my normal first thing in the morning weight! Of coarse I know the weight will pop up as soon as I start eating. But now judging from the fat still on my middle I know 75kg is possible. I easily have 2kg of fat that can be lost.
The fasting is fine this morning. I’m probably going to try and last until tomorrow morning which would make it an 84 hour fast without food. Today after 3pm I’ll be breaking my old record of 66 hours.
The negative – my blood glucose is running lower than normal, right now it is a fine 83, but while I was climbing 120 floors of stairs this more I started feeling woozy and decided to stop. I had planned on doing 200 floors. However I don’t want to faint and it is even worse to faint while climbing cement stairs. This is probably a sign that my metabolism is switching over to mostly burning fat. I’m just not completely there yet. So for right now I’m curbing my activity a little.
Tuesday 28th March. NFD Sydney Aust.
@at. sorry must have been confused on the dates.
Monday 27th was a FD. Sunday 26th a NFD.
Keep the fast!

This morning I was having some problems, possibly related to low blood glucose but I just backed off and took it easy. My body not only recovered but I’m starting to feel good. Yea my stomach is empty but I don’t have any real hunger and it is almost a good feeling. My energy level has picked back up and my calories burned have are now about 150 more than 100 calories per hour. Three hours ago it was behind that rate.
However I probably won’t continue the fast past tomorrow morning because my wife seems to get stressed out by my fasting. Also my cheeks are getting hallow looking. I wish some of the fat from my gut would just move up and fill out my cheeks again. My face is starting to look a little too chiseled. That is the problem I have, my face, arms and legs seem very low on fat and but my trunk still has a blanket of fat, but mostly below the ribs and on the back. The biggest amount is on the belly.
Day 27, Oceanside CA, FD
Day 28, Oceanside CA, NFD
Monday fast day sets up the week. Good FD for me and DH. Enjoyed day with granddaughters and their parents including a nice baked salmon dinner with Brussels sprouts well within FD limits.
Spring is here and daily walks near beach gives us lots of miles.
Looking forward to breakfast out at Ruby’s Diner on the pier with the family.
Coming down the home stretch for March. Into our fifth month on Fast 5:2. It all adds up to good health.
Day 25 – Perth AUS – NFD
Day 26 – Perth AUS – NFD
Day 27 – Perth AUS – FD
Day 28 – Perth AUS – NFD
Sorry AT; forgot to check in for a bit. This thread moves so fast I can’t keep up anymore! All the best to all those doing their final fasts and those sticking to 800cal for the remainder of the month! For me it’s one more fast day between now and 31 March.
Day 28 UK FD π
Lost my post, and I was having a lovely little moan, maybe someone’s telling me they don’t wanna hear all that!
Anyway was saying that had a cream tea, the three tier variety with finger sandwiches, scones, clotted cream and jam and selection of mini cakes and desserts, with champagne and wine. Effect – back ache (over working the kidneys maybe), tiredness (clocks going forward did not help, have to get up in the dark again), also craving sweet things! The sugar curse!!! Dun dun dunnnnn!
So made my FD harder yesterday and I know I went over, felt hungry and tired all day, back to it today to have a successful FD! Warm water and lemon here I come. (Still tired π΄).
4 days left eeeekkk! We still have time to make a difference! ππ
Day 28, Germany, FD
Day 27,NFD
yesterday I could not continue my fasting. So sad, but today is a new day. @johnny congrats for ur results. I wish the day I write here the same thing π
