  • Hi all,

I’m turning 30 in April 2015 and have around 15 kg to lose – fast!

I’ve attempted the 5:2 Diet a couple of times with it only lasting around two weeks. I think the lack of meal prep for the fast days and the days I chose (Mondays and Thursdays) didn’t work for me. Also my hubby being fifo (fly in fly out) might have interrupted my focus…. but enough excuses! My new fast days are Mondays and Wednesdays, and I will use Sundays to meal prep fast day meals so I don’t have to think about it!

Yesterday, I made four portions of Creamy Broccoli and Cauliflower Soup and plan on making Zucchini spaghetti with tomatoes, mushrooms, capsicum, garlic, chili and some bacon pieces. Recipe and calories yet to be calculated mind you…

Anyhow, I guess I wanted to introduce myself and see how everyone else’s weight loss is going and what kind of 200-300 calorie meals are easy to prepare for those fasting days?

    Flick

    Hi Flick,
Hope you find it easier this time around. I must be difficult with a FIFO routine as that basically means no routine when he is home I should imagine.
Eggs are a great option, as well as salads or vegetables. If you have an omelette with tinned salmon that is a really high protein filling start to the day and that can be as little s 180 calories and then you are right for a small meal in the evening.
If you want to you can Google 250 calories meals. Here is one that I just Googled. They all look so nice…http://www.cookinglight.com/food/recipe-finder/250-calorie-main-dishes/view-all
Good luck….I am new also and just finding my way.

    Hi

I turned 30 last year in June 2014 and have really tried loosing weight. I usually do good with a diet the first few days but then i get demotivated and start snacking again. I started the fast diet last week and believe it or not my fast days are Mondays and Thursdays. This morning i was so surprised. I lost 1.2kg for the first week. I started this morning with my second week kicking of with some boiling water with fresh lemon and during the day to try and get me to drink more water, i make myself some cucumber and lemon water that is in the fridge overnight for the next day. I had a future life zero smoothie just now and for this evening i am only having some steamed veggies.

I could not agree more in the planning part. It is much easier to plan the week ahead and that is what i am now doing. Sundays i plan the meals for the week and this week it will be very easy as my husband is away on business and my 3 year old daughter eats cooked meals at daycare and only something light in the evening.

    Good luck and stay strong.

I started my journey last week when the scales tipped at 77.3 and today i am on 76.1kg. 1.2kg down and another 10.1kg to go.

I weighed myself this morning – the morning of a fast day – it has been a four day break since my last fast and i’ve gained 1.5kg back again! I’m back to the start or even worse off that I was! Very disheartenning…. I’m hoping it’s just water retention from getting sunburnt, but I know I lived a little over the weekend 🙁

Down 700g from yesterday – still not the whole lot. When I last weighed in I was 90.5kg and I was so happy to see progress. But today I am 91.3kg. Although that’s 700g down from yesterday, I would have liked to have seen my weight get back to 90.5kg!
Makes me want to not eat my breakfast this morning, even though it’s not a fasting day.
Maybe I’m gaining because I’m a week away from my monthly period….?

I have been doing the IF for the past 2 weeks and in my first week i lost 1.2kg and this week i lost 1.5kg. A total loss of 2.7kg in 2 weeks. It is important to also state that i have been eating healthy on the other 5 days as well but did not feel bad whenever i had a coke or a block of chocolate. I also did not cut to 1/4 on fast days but to 1/3. i found that if i cut to 1/4 that i will cheat in the evening by having a snack going over my 500Cal intake. It is also important to exercise and i have been exercising 5 days a week only for half an hour on the treadmill.

Remember you will show gain when you are close to your period. This is a time when you do have water retention. Just keep on going strong. And start doing some exercise. Even if this is only a 20 minute walk around the block.

Thanks for the support Charlemaine. I’m down again today to 90.8kg, so another 500g down. Hopefully my official weigh in tomorrow will look like 90.5kg or even less!
Started off my day with a coffee with a splash of milk, looking forward to my creamy cauliflower and broccoli soup for lunch with a side serve of pear, and for dinner i’ve got leftover Eggplant and Ricotta Lasagne that I made last week and froze!
Yesterday I didn’t eat my breakfast, had Pumpkin and ChickPea Curry with white rice on the side, then Pizza for dinner. Surprised myself that I lost weight overnight after eating like that on my non fast day. I didn’t over do it though. I was consciously making an effort to take note of what i was eating, the taste, texture, smell. I absolutely am eating more vegetables now and are more regular!
I do go for a few walks a week with the dog and my daughter in her pram too. But as I work in an office, my life is quite sedentary.

    90.5kg today – yehah!

    Hey Flick!

I’m also Aussie and just started the diet this week, hoping to lose as much as possible before my 30th bday in September 🙂

I’m a newbie here, but I found a great ready-meal today that was really satisfying, and super low calorie – Birds Eye Steam Fresh Fish fillet (with lemon and parsley sauce, reallly delicious and actually tastes quite indulgent) and Birds Eye Steam Fresh Peas, Beans, Corn and Broccoli. All up, one fish fillet and one packet of the veggies was 187 calories (782 kj). Made today easy after getting home from work.

Hope to hear more about your progress!
