  • Hi everyone.
I’m a 21yo med student. I recently heard about the 5:2 diet and am totally looking forward to trying it out.
You can say, stress is kinda my middle name since there’s a back to back exam routine and such so hey, putting on pounds is natural.
I used to be the super skinny kid of the circle but things somehow changed and, y’know, I kinda have to lose a couple of kgs. I need to lose about 60 lbs and I have NOO idea how long it’s gonna take me but I have my fingers crossed.
The only problem with me is, I find it hard to stay persistent so God help me.
So far I’ve planned on keeping Monday and Thursday as my fast days, hope everything works out well.
Totally looking forward to getting to know y’all!
    Ciao! <3

Plus. Exercise is just not my thing. By the time I’m back from my college I barely have any strength left to exercise AND study.

    Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum so wanted to say hi!
I personal train once a week and bootcamp once a week. I try hard to follow 1200 cal
Diet but find it difficult. Ive tried this before but felt so weak.
After reading the 5:2 book again I am feeling inspired. I am going to have my first fast say tomor.
How did you all start and how do you stop yourself getting weak??

Hey there Suzyq! Welcome to the forums and the diet! Its day two for me and I’m holding on well. I fasted yesterday and it wasn’t just that difficult. Today was a non fast day so I had a fruit smoothie and low cal fish spaghettis! I think I’ll have just another glass of milk an hour before going to bed and I’m done for today.
I think of how beautiful I’d feel once I’ve lost all this extra fat and that keeps me going. Best of luck to you and keep us/me updated with your progress!

Hello Ais and welcome! I’m just on my 2nd week now and really loving it. Lost 2lb and 3 inches off my waist on week 1. Fingers crossed for the same this week. This morning, after a FD, I woke up 3 HOURS earlier than usual and got so much done. I haven’t seen the sun come up in…well, too long 😉 I’m self-employed lol.

Hi Suzyq! I’m wondering how long you tried the diet previously? My 1st FD was tough but after then, it’s been invigorating and my energy’s way up. Could it be that you’re not taking enough water and/or salt during and after fasts?

    Good luck!!

PS: Also, I’m doing complete fasts on FDs. Nothing but a little milk in morning coffee and tons of water & green tea the rest of the day. I find it’s easier and it may be what’s keeping dehydration at bay? Just a thought.

Hi everyone! I’m also new this week, today was first fast day. Quite tough!, but am sitting happy and ready to chill tonight, no more food today. Jennybb, I like the idea of the complete fast, as you mention the dehydration, and that was a problem today, I toyed with getting a diet Coke, but not a great fan, and not good anyway. Not sure I’d have the willpower to do a total fast, but maybe 1 of the fast days I could manage..mmmm…..I wonder…

@Bedlybood Yay! Congratulations on making it through the first fast. That is absolutely the hardest day…it gets SO much easier from here.

While I’m sure the ‘true fast’ isn’t for everyone, for me it works because food just makes me want more food, even if it’s just veg and fish. When the hunger pangs come, I reach for the water or some warm tea. The 3rd fast day of Week 2 went so well I’m thinking of going on a 4:3 for awhile. Going to give it a try next week with Sun, Tues, Thurs, so we’ll see.

Don’t give up, I promise it gets easier. 🙂

    * Beldyboop (wow I really butchered your name there, sorry!)

    Hey, Jennybb!
Wow! Congratulations on losing 3 inches off the very first week. I believe every single pound matters! I haven’t exactly taken my measurements in a while so not sure if I’m losing anything like that but I checked the scale and it says I’ve lost 4.6 pounds since I started dieting (though Monday was day 1 for my 5:2 diet, I had been strictly dieting since Thursday last week. That should explain the little-more-than-expected weight loss).
I believe the real achievemt for me would be to lose 23 pounds more from here since I’ve had weight fluctuations lesser than that with negligible effect on how I look! 🙁
Please keep us updated with your weight loss! All the best!! 🙂

Hey beldyboop!! So glad your first day went well.
I started this diet on Monday (also the first fast day) and plan to fast next on Saturday. I have to arrange everything to fit my study schedule so it gets kinda difficult.. I don’t have a problem going for a full day fast but with all the stress and the fact I’m mostly a dehydrated person I develope full blown headaches if I do that (I followed this liquid diet for 5 days and lost 5 kgs, but the headache, the irritation, the loss of stamina etc were too much to take so I passed on it)
I’m currently having stuffed nostrils and all but I read the introductory notes so I’m not too shocked, neither is it something I can’t really take..
All the best with your epic transformation journey! Keep us updated please! 🙂
