  • Hello friends, I need your advice whether this diet program works who has a stubborn metabolism like me and who never met weight loss before. I’m over weight for most of my life, irrespective of any kind of diet or exercise program I did its very very difficult to lose weight. I was 165 lbs for 5.3 ft for most part of my life. Im not a foody which means I can be on vegis/oatmeal or any kind of diet for years with no issues. My life has changed 4 months back when I seriously decided to lose weight for my 40th birthday. I met Nutritionist for help and she kept me on high protein/low carb/…different diet programs along with the diet she kept me on Spironolactone 100 mg as it is diuretic and helps me with acne too..I was strictly following diet with 1300 cal, mainly containing quinoa , oatmeal, fruits, vegis, lean meat. I increased my exercise to a new level by following HIIT training program, I was exercising for 2 hours every day from cardio to strength training. After being on this diet and exercise program with meds my weight increased by 9 lbs in 2 months. I never gained so much weight in such a short span and not sure whether the medicine caused the weight gain or something else going on…its been 3 weeks I stopped the exercise and medicine and my weight is stagnant at 176 but its so painful to turn back and see what I went through. All the hard work got wasted and loss of money with more weight to carry. From past 3 weeks I stopped taking the medicine and exercise, Im currently doing yoga and following the same diet with veggis, fruits, oatmeal, lean meat and quinoa. I have seen my obgyn last week and after listening to what I went through, my doctor suggested to start taking Metformin 1000mg as he believes I might be insulin resistance. Its been 4 days Im on the medication so far no change in the weight. I dont have any hopes to try anything at this time but at the same time I cannot sit with extra weight hanging on me.

Please need suggestions and your inputs 🙂

    Hi sponge.

I can’t really offer you any advice but I felt I needed to hello after reading all you’ve been through. I stuggle with my weight but only because I like my food lol! I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to stick to a diet plan and excersice and not lose anything or put it on.

The only thing I could think to ask is if any doctors have ever considered a thyroid problem? I think I remember reading that an under/over active (cant remember which) thyroid can cause excessive weight gain.

Stick with it. I’m sure this diet will work for you. And if it doesn’t you’ll find something else that does.

I also don’t have any advice, but wish you all the very best of luck. I’d be very interested to know how you get on – will you post your progress on this thread?
