  • As the title says, I’ve been doing the 5:2 diet for 6 weeks as of today, I’m 11lbs down, my BMI is down and I’m also a jean size down. I’m in my mid 40s and my weight has been a constant battle for my entire adult life. I’ve done WW, Slimming World etc. etc. and I can honestly say this feels like second nature and I’m thrilled!!

If anyone is struggling, stick with it, the fasts get easier, to the point where you hardly give them a second thought :o)

Seems like we are in a similar boat but I’m just starting this journey.. you’re doing really well.. any good tips for me please?

Hi Juhods, if I’ve learned anything recently it’s that we’re all different and we all need different things to succeed on this weightloss journey of ours.

For me, it’s about flexibility. No more black and white, shades of grey are actually o.k. I’ve always been an all or nothing kind of gal, so if my halo slipped I’d throw my hands in the air and say “well I’ve blown it now!” On this I know that there’s no hard and fast rules as such, it can flex to suit you. If I fancy going all out carb free sub 500 cals on fast day, I can. If I’m not feeling quite as strong the next time and I need a few carbs, then that’s o.k. too. I haven’t broken any rules, or fallen off the wagon so I can’t get demotivated. Hoorah!

The other thing is it’s not a race. Relax and enjoy it – take the time pressure off yourself and it’ll happen with very little fuss.

There’s some great FAQ info here too, well worth checking out.

    Good luck x

    Hey everybody
So I’m starting this diet tomorrow after seeing my doctor. I just wanted to know do you do any exercises whilst being on this diet .
I really hope it works for me, as summers coming up and I don’t want to be hiding away in baggy clothes this year.
