  • Hi! I’ve been looking for someone to track weight loss with if anyone is interested?

I started 3rd of jan so I’m nearly at the end of week 4. My weight had been stuck at 11 stone 11lbs since having my second baby. Tried every diet and exercise plan! Thought I’d give this a go. So I started doing 5:2 and lost 3lb the first week. The second week I wanted to step it up a gear and decided to switch to 4:3. I was also walking two hours a day (school run thirty mins each way!) I was also doing a weight loss dvd. I lost 2lb the second week. The third week I had a bad ankle injury so cut back exercise but continued with 4:3 and walking at least 10000 steps mon to fri. I lost 3 lb the third week. Very happy. That’s 8lb in three weeks.

I have one more fast day this week (I always fast mon, wed, fri) and I only weigh myself on a Saturday. I never think I’ve lost any until I weigh myself and can’t believe my eyes! However I feel the same this week and dread getting on the scales incase I haven’t lost anything as I am trying so hard.

I do treat myself on feed days, a bit of choc and even a takeaway. I really look forward to fast days tho. I find them easy now.

I have a slim sip on fast days before bed as they fill up your tummy.
I am going back to work part time in a month and want to be nearer 10 stone. My overall goal is just to get to a health bmi which for my height is 10stone. I would love to see 9.10 again!

Anyway it is working. I just hope I lose a few lbs every week as I do feel so much better and happier already.

4:3 and 10000 steps! It’s working for me. When I go back to work I will go back to 5:2.

Be nice to have a weightloss buddy or two!

Hi my name is Rachel I am new to this diet and only started today, I thought I would go in head first and started with a fast day. Not too bad but I am starting to wain now this is my dangerous time of the day 15.00-16.00 this is when the biscuits come out after just doing the school run.
I am probably not much help to you as you seem to be well in to the diet, but I have to it would be nice to have some one to talk to and possibly exchange ideas and recipes with.

Hi. My name is Sally, I’m in middle of third week. Would like to lose 20 lbs ish. And then do it for health benefits. Not sure how much I’ve lost as don’t have a scales but will hopefully buy one soon. I’ve done 4:3 so far, just because I was scared of overeating on Fri and Sat nights! Would prefer to do 5:2 just need to be better on non-fast days. And yes agree 3pm is def hungry time.

Hi Rachel good luck! I genuinely don’t feel like I’m on a diet! Because I can have what I want within reason on my feed days! I think that’s why I prefer doing 4:3. It seems I can still eat whatever I want and lose weight. Seriously in the past few weeks on feed days (mostly weekends) I have possibly consumed pizza, Indian, Chinese and strawberry cider in large amounts! Not to mention the fry ups…. Now I know why I got fat lol! I blame my husband.

Hi Sally, i agree I worry I overeat so find 4:3 works for me. On Sunday night I am so excited to fast the next day! It’s a relief! I have also found that my appetite for treats and normal food has definitely decreased lately. I don’t want to undo all the hard work I’ve done I guess. I love the feeling and surprise of losing a few pounds every week. I feel much better because of all the walking I do too. I will definitely be going to 5:2 at the beginning of March tho. I’m a teacher, I genuinely don’t think I would make it through 6 lessons a day on 500 calories but I hope to be nearer my target by then. It will be interesting to see how much of a difference there is between 5:2 and 4:3. I read on one of the forums that there was possibly no difference..

I do find food tricky. For me, I have to have a small bowl of fruit and fibre with milk and a cuppa to power me up for the hour walk to and from school, then I just drink water, low cal squash, diet coke, tea until 2 ish and have half a steamed sweet potato and half a chicken breast baked with a bit of honey. The Birdseye inspirations frozen fish things are good too. I’m rubbish at counting calories but I’m pretty sure I stick around 500 on fast days. And I’ve found that now I don’t have the need or desire to want to eat as much on feed days. 1 slice of pizza as opposed to 4!

I just drink massive cups of tea. I do recommend slim sip, I found in the first few weeks I would have three a day to stop my tummy rumbling. They are 9 calories and swell in your tummy to fill you up. Now I just have one before bed on fast days. They are ok to drink like fizzy orange. I got a months supply on Amazon but I only use a couple a week now. I also have a few nuts like Brazil nuts if I feel faint. Which normally hits me at 6 pm when feeding the family.

I used to only drink whole milk but I’m very proud of myself for switching to semi-skimmed.

I did find fast days a struggle as I still need to cook for husband and kids! Not nice when you are hungry but I just save a portion and have it on my feed days (if hubby doesn’t steal it for his lunch!) that keeps me going, even when I get cravings “I can eat you tomorrow….” Then I find I don’t want it the next day anyway.

It willbe really nice to see how you guys to get on. I’m still waiting for the weigh in when I haven’t lost any…I’ll be happy even if it’s just a lb a week. I’m definitely in it for long term.

Sally- do u feel like you’ve lost weight?

Hi everyone “struggling” with weight loss. This week is my first, on my second fast day today. Have encouraged my husband to join, so we have instant support partners.
My story is that after my mother became diabetic when I was 11 year old and I gained weight on her diabetic diet, I have been “weight-watching” or rather “diet watching”. I am now 72 years old. Nothing much has changed except my weight. I have been diabetic now for 30 years.
Once in my mid twenties, my doctor put me onto an intermittent fasting diet though it was not called that then. It worked hot-darn! That is why I am so excited about Michael’s 5:2 way of eating. And apparently it improves the body’s use of insulin.
I will weigh every week but could not help but sneak a peek after the first fast – a 2 pound drop!
I know it works and I am sure it is possible to be a lifestyle change, the way Michael has suggested.
Good luck to you all. (and good luck to me)

Hi Vizzp! Thanks for the tidbit on slim slip!

I started January 5th and started my own forum which you are welcome to join in and let me know how your progress is going, its under “My positive forum by DD:”.

I’ve lost a total of 8.5 pounds in 4 weeks. My goal is to lose 24 pounds by the end of May. But my overall goal is to get down to 135, I picked 24 pounds because it says my BMI is overweight now, but if I get down to 149 I will be at a “normal” BMI weight. I am 5’5 so I would like to flex between 135-140, that is a very comfortable weight for me.

I really love this diet, I have been on a Yo-Yo weight gain/loss for years!! If this continues to work, I will incorporate 5:2 in my life forever!! Not to mention the health benefits!! My husband is on this diet too and he struggles with a blood pressure issue, his blood pressure has been perfect since starting this diet!

Anyways, good luck to you and keep us all posted on your progress!!

Hello everyone – new kid on the block (although kid is stretching it a tad)

I bought The Fast Diet Book after watching the horizon programme when it originally launched on TV.
It’s taken me a while to get going but feel I can do this now.
So I have been doing this way of eating for two weeks now and have lost 4lb.
I think I can cope with this way of eating as I don’t feel as deprived knowing I can eat other foods tomorrow.
I thought it would be helpful to me to join a Forum so I can get help and advice when needed.
Also it would be good to find like-minded buddies to make this journey with.
It’s going to take a long time to get to my final weight, but what an achievement that would be.
Good luck to everyone else taking part.

    Hey Fasters,

I hope your well. So 2015 came around quick and unfortunately February has come around quicker 🙁
I previously did the fast diet back in early 2014. I didn’t do it for long and I felt great.
Unfortunately work took over and I screwed up.
    SO… I’m 30 in 4 months.
I don’t want to look back at my 30th birthday pics and hate how I look. I have 17 lbs to shift. Is this even realistic?

    Thoughts pls 🙂 x

Yes, Makdeniz!! I started this on January 5th, 4 weeks later down 8.5 pounds. If you are as dedicated as I am, you could possibly could lose 17 pounds in 2 months! Good luck and happy pre-birthday wishes! 🙂

Thank You Dawniedawn! Honestly the idea of being 30 is enough to have to cope with let alone being fat and thirty!

Well Done on your weight loss!

    XxX

    Morning all!

Just done my weekly weigh in…. Down another 2 lb 🙂 that’s 10lb in 4 weeks doing 4:3 and 10000 steps.

I am looking forward to the next 4 weeks

Hi Vizzyp. I think I feel like I’ve lost weight. Just trying to have less treats on non fast days. Have myfitnesspal app and that reminds me how many calories in our normal dinners! Before kids we used to have salad for dinner much more often. Still want to eat regular things though. I feel fuller after a smaller amount but still feel I should eat more because I always had. Portion size is going to be my learning curve. Hope your weekend is going well. I’m looking forward to bagels and smoked salmon for Sunday breakfast.

Vizzyp, I think for me 4:3 as opposed to5:2 at the moment would see a difference as I have been going over my tdee quite a bit (few hundred to 500 cals) on normal days as think my tdee was 1700. So guess overall cals consumed will be the duffirence. But yeah 5:2 more sustainable I reckon.

Hi vizzyp. Sorry last post was a bit self centred. Not intentional, I had lost the thread and was replying to earlier question. Brill news on your weight loss. I was naughty on Sun and ate tons of toffee. Needed my fast day today to sort me out! How did ur weekend go?
