  • Hi

I’ve struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember, I’ve tried WW in the past but always put the weight back on. I calorie counted for more than a year with good results but life got in the way and I slipped back into bad habits and I’m back to my pre-weight-loss weight yet again.

I watched the recent program on the BBC, did the online test and it suggested that 5:2 was the way forward so I thought I’d give it a go. I’ve done a week so far, 2 fasts which I found hard but not impossible, I was worried that I’d want to stuff my face on the non fast days but that didn’t happen. I only lost a tiny bit of weight but I feel good so I’ll try to keep positive 🙂

Sounds like you’re doing well 🙂 A small weight loss per week is what I’ve had too. Some weeks I haven’t had any, don’t let it discourage you. Fasting is all about changing your relationship with food in the long run!

Hi Kate, I put on a pound this week, gutted! But I will try to stay positive. Do you want to lose much weight? I want to loose about 20 lbs, I have lost 6 lbs in 3 weeks, so 14 to go. And it WILL go.

    We can do this!

    Hi Everyone
I am about to start the 5:2 diet (reading the book first) so tomorrow will be my first day.
I have tried every diet known to man and had some success only to start putting the weight back on again the minute things go wrong. 🙁
I would appreciate any help you may be able to give on my way to a lighter me. Not too worried about how much weight I lose – just want to be healthy and feel better within myself.

Hi Applepie, fingers crossed for a loss next week, a gain is hard to take when you’ve struggled through hungry days. I’ve got quite a lot of weight to lose over all but I’m taking it in small(ish) chunk so I’m aiming for 10Kg to start – means we have a similar goal.

    Good luck this week 🙂

Thanks Gloria, I feel good and still positive – that’s the main thing I think, I’m pleased with myself for sticking to the plan for the first week and am well prepared for my fast day tomorrow 🙂

    Hello Kate, hello Nume2Be,

Today is Day One for me too.

I’ve done my first fast day today and plan to do my second one on Wednesday. I found it challenging by not impossible. Certainly not any worse than I thought it would be.

However, I have tucked into bed already with a cup of blackcurrant tea – keen for the day to be officially over! I’m really looking forward to eating properly tomorrow and already feel that I want to make healthy choices – otherwise what’s the point..

    Good luck to you all!

    Hi newbies and welcome:

This thread will answer most of your questions: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

Hi PP, i was the same on my first day, got through it ok but was very happy when it was over. The second fast a couple of days later seemed much easier you’ll be happy to hear. Good luck 🙂

I am just finishing Day 1. I am doing well. I usually snack on chips when I get home but not tonight I am having my soup. I have plans to clean some area of my house and keep busy. Then to bed. It is cold an dreary so it should be quite easy to fall asleep.

12:12pm. Day 1 for me…decided to jump right in on the fast day. All going well atm, will see how I feel about it at around 3pm, (usually when I feel the need to snack on something!)

Sooo good to read blogs and to add to them – helps me stay motivated knowing that I am not the only one travelling this path.

    Good Luck everyone
    Nume

After gaining a pound last week I had a fast day yesterday, I was really good and only had about 350 calories, and I honestly didn’t feel hungry. Today I am fasting again. I am hoping to have a no food day. I know others do this so I am giving it a go.
I want to let this fat know that I mean business!
    Good luck everyone!

Fast day number three for me today, all good so far although my tummy is grumbling away a bit at the minute. Raw veg and some hummus at lunchtime and lots of water so far, I find a no fat Actimel mid morning seems to help get me through too.

Hope everyone else has had a good day 🙂

Hi all, I am new to this, Monday will be the start of the diet for me. Where and how do I access recipes etc or do I just do what I am doing and eat healthy etc.

There are all sorts of websites and books to get low cal recipes from, I like the Hairy Dieters cook book and have made some of their soups and the quick cod gratin. It seems like quite a few people don’t cook on the fast days and use low cal ready meals, seems like a good idea for the days when I don’t have the energy to think healthy 🙂

After being so brilliantly good this week, we are going out for a meal tonight. I intend to enjoy myself. Just hope I don’t regret it when I get on the scales on Monday. Stay strong everyone!
