  • Hi there my name is Lynda and I’m a working mum I havet 2 teenagers and have decided it’s time to look after myself for a change.. I have a very supporting hubby who never really puts weight on……..grrrrr..and has promised to support me all the way I feel very excited about this and would appreciate some tips ️xx

Hi Lynda-j – welcome aboard! I am a newbie here too, I started 5:2 last week, today is my 3rd fast day. I did have a couple of weeks on 5:2 last year but due to lots of reasons I didn’t keep it up. This year is different, and my best move was to buy the book. I got it for around £3 on Amazon the other week, read the bulk of it over the weekend and then started 5:2 last week. Reading it really helped me to focus and get myself in the right frame of mind.

The tips I’ve found have made it easier this year so far are:
    – water, water and more water. I know now that I did not drink anywhere near enough water last year when I was doing it. It really does make you feel better

    – Finding what works for me. My technique is to not eat anything until mid/late afternoon on a fast day and then have a light dinner. I found a 5:2 recipe section on BBC Good Food website which has been pretty handy http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/52 . But other people might find they really need a breakfast in the morning, but can skip lunch easily.

    – Protein really helps make you feel full. If I do eat mid / late afternoon, I like to have a low calorie yoghurt. It really helps.

    – remind yourself that you are just doing this today. If you have an almighty craving for something, tell yourself you can have it tomorrow

Black coffee has really helped me too.

Good luck, to me it seemed unachievable to eat only 500cals in a day but you can do it and not feel completely deprived.

Hi there my name is Jenny and I’m a working mum with 3 teenagers and have decided it’s my time now!!! I feel very excited about doing this and need some tips ️xx

    Hi,
I started this last week and am finding it easier than I thought.
I have a lot of weight to lose – but feel quite confident that this might be the way to go!
Did my 2 fast days together and am keeping with the same two days this week – Thursday and Friday.
I am a shift worker and always put Wright on when I am on night shift, which I have just started last night for two and a half weeks.
Looking forward to seeing how everyone gets on.

Hi, just started today and am getting a bit hungry. Drinking water. Had porridge this morning and an apple for lunch. Feeling positive and happy I’ve finally made the decision to start after toying with the idea since reading the book before Christmas. I’ve had time to process the information and feel hopeful that I’m on the right path to a healthier and lighter me. 🙂
