Hi all. I am Mal a slightly overweight and unfit 40 something that has just taken up the 5:2 diet. I watched the TV programme and bought the book around October 2013 and promised myself I would give this a go. Well it got delayed and delayed but I have finally found the motivation after getting sick of seeing my man boobs and belly. That along with a family history of high blood pressure and a little diabetes.
To cut a long story short yesterday (my first fast day) went really well until around 2 p.m. just after lunch when I started to feel light headed. Only a little but light headed all the same. I carried on regardless but by the time I got home from work at 6 p.m. I was getting a headache. This ended up being pretty bad around 9:30 so I went to bed but couldn’t sleep at all. Around midnight I gave in and had a glass of milk and some paracetamol. I did get to sleep shortly after this.
For breakfast I had 2 boiled eggs with a little salt and a carrot (I love carrots) with a glass of water. Throughout the day I had about another 5 glasses of water. Around 6.p.m. I had tomato soup with 1 slice of wholemeal bread.
Now I do get mild to average migraines. Two or 3 a month and the headache I got was similar but not the same.
Just looking for any comments really and to share the experience. Does anyone have any comments or shared a similar experience? Or maybe I have done something really wrong for the first day? I was thinking the headache was something to do with blood sugar as normally I have a pretty high sugar intake. Two sugars with tea and a daily chocolate bar and all that.
Oh and of course, Hello everyone and sorry about the massive first post !!
