  • I tried the Fast Diet about 8months ago, missed the initial program by Dr Mosely, heard about the diet through people randomly muttering 5:2. I Youtubed it, got the book, got on line and I was in hooked line and sinker. However I didn’t fair well, found it difficult in the beginning and then just got into the swing of it. I loved it, I felt great, I was so encouraged by all the write ups I was reading. But I didn’t loose much weight, I dropped a few pounds in the first few weeks (I’ve got at least 30 to loose) then zilch. Plateau? After 4 months adhearing to it religiously but weight wasn’t coming off so I lost momentum and lost my way.
2nd attempt this week I’ve got to do it and stick to it! It was suppose to start Monday and then I totally forgot and eat the wrong thing, so yesterday was my 2nd,2nd attempt. OMG did I struggle!!! Thought about food all day,had a boiled egg in the morning, drank oolong tea all day and read every thing I could about this “way of life” then had dinner at 5olock when I was starving. I had tuna salad and woofed it down. An hour later I was still hungry I then had a 40 calorie hot chocolate which satisfied for a bit I was still so hungry though I went to bed at 8oock (upset, I was not coping) but I did it. I’d forgotten how hard it can be especially when it’s so cold out side. Thank god for this forum it saved me yesterday and showed me the way, glad I’m not on my own. Thankyou guys. X

Well done for persevering and completing your fast. Not easy when it’s so cold and miserable outside. If you plan to do a fast on a particular day and eat too much just do it the next day. I find I am thinking about food too much so try to do other things – and have a glass of water if I feel hungry. Good luck – it’s early days and hopefully when you have done another fast you’ll ‘be in the groove’.

I’m sure you’ll be into the swing of it again soon. Fasting is so rough at first, I really struggled on Monday! We can do it though!! Stay strong 🙂

Thanks guys, tomorrow is my next fast day I’m planning to go for a swim about mid day that way I’ll be occupied during lunch time and try not to think about food so much. Also thought I’d try and old back on dinner until later and that way there’s not a long wait between dinner and bed time.

Fasting today and so far so good. Had a boiled egg for breakfast then went swimming for 20 minutes and did a 45 mi ute Aqua aerobics class. Then just had coffee. Ruined a activity tracker band that was my Christmas present as I’ve just learned it’s not water proof. Oops! It was sort of working for me though as it was a step counter and when I reslised yesterday that I was below target I did actually get up off my butt and jump on the exercise bike ( after I brushed the dust off) and did 20 mins. Really proud of that. Still will manage without it for now. Must remember not to sit fir too long. Keep busy.

This is my first week, 2nd time fasting, did awesome on the first fast day on Monday; however, didn’t do all that great today, I consumed about 646 calories today. I’ve been working out every day this week so I am wondering if that is why I was more hungry today than I was on Monday. Anyways, I may try and fast again tomorrow.

Good luck on your 2nd attempt. I really have a positive outlook on this 5:2 fast diet!!

    Hi Dawniedawn
500 calories isn’t a lot, so easy to go over. I think it takes a lot of planning before hand. I found it a bit easier the 2nd fast day by simply drinking lots of green tea. I’m trying to bulk out my evening meal with lots of veg too. I did find that I didn’t eat as much today, could have gone without lunch so I’m hoping this diet shrinks my stomach as well. Definitely overall calorie intake for the week will be less so that’s a bonus. Excercising does increase your apatite I think it takes a while for the body to find a balance.
Are you doing this purely to loose weight or for the health benefits?
