  • Hello everyone, happy new year!

I’m starting 5:2 today and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Nicola, I’m 32 and currently weigh 201lbs. I’ve been slowly losing weight since March last year but gained 6lbs over Christmas. I watched Michael Moseleys programme when it was originally aired and it always stuck in my brain as something I wanted to try, I love the principle behind it. Through pregnancy then breastfeeding I couldn’t start straight away, so now I am able to begin.

Today is my first fast day, I’ve waited til my son is napping to eat my breakfast, I’m still hungry after finishing it so I feel it’s going to be a long day until I get my dinner eek.

Looking forward to chatting to you all and picking up lots of tips

    Nicola

Well I’ve survived this far! I’ll not lie though I’ve fantasised about driving to macdonalds for a greasy burger and wanted to steal food from my 1 year old, but I didnt haha! I’m looking forward to it getting easier, but I know I’ll have to persevere for a few weeks yet before that happens. Ahh roll on dinner time 🙂

    Hi there,
I have just read this and have just started this morning! Like you say, think it is going to be a long day! I am already noticing how I rely on food to get me through the day… Not in a hunger way, in a psychological way. So this forum is great to distract you from going for a nibble!
Well done for getting started…. I am trying to loose my childbirth pounds… Trouble is my son is nearly 15!!! Been putting it off for a while!!!
Fingers crossed I can do this diet!

Hi, how are you getting on? How did you find your first fast day? I’m on my second one today and it’s a huge contrast to Monday, dare I say it but I’m finding it easy! I also rely on food to get me through the day, I’m discovering I use food for any emotion :-/

Good luck, I hope it’s going well 🙂 keep in touch and let me know how you’re getting on

    Hello,
I started yesterday, I’m also fasting today too. So far I haven’t found it difficult, but I know I’m in the , new year, new zone phase, I just hope it lasts!
I haven’t weighed myself so I can’t see how much I loose, have took measurements instead, as I feel from past experience I can get disheartened if it doesn’t come off quick enough. Would really like to change for good though, I visited some really cool places last year and felt encumbered by my own weight. :-/
    Enough is enough eh?

    Hi Reefet

Just noticed you’re a ‘measurer’ rather than a ‘weigher’.

You’re most welcome to pop into the following thread, too

If your clothes are looser but the scales are the same, read on – The …

And of course anyone else who would like to check in is most welcome too.

Well done to all for starting and give it a bit of time – it’s a good way of eating/ way of life 🙂

How are you getting on Reefet? I think measuring is a great idea, I’m doing both…im a slave to my scales :-/ I have felt like that too, on our amazing holiday to Dubrovnik last year I spent far too much time thinking about my weight, how wonderful would it be to be able to relax and not give it a second though!

Thank you for the link Bootsy Badger, I will give it a read.

I’m currently on my 3rd fast day, it is feeling incredibly easy, not once today did I feel obsessed with food, this is a huge change for me, maybe I can change after all!

Here are my week 1 stats:-

    Fast days:- 2
    Starting weight:- 201.8lbs
    Current weight:- 198.2lbs
    Pounds lost:- 3.6lbs
    Inches lost (waist):- 0.5″
    Feeling:- motivated, energized, positive
