  • Hi everyone,I am in my second week on the fast diet but I feel too afraid to weigh myself! I know it will help to chart my progress in the long run but I am really frightened about finding out where I am starting from. Also on a fast today after a terrible night with my two year old. Feeling exhausted not helping! I so want to do this as I really feel I deserve to have a body I enjoy. Any advice support and encouragement would be hugely appreciated!

    Hi loseitlaura,
I’m on my 12th week. During the first five I lost about 5kg.. then I went on hols to visit ageing perent in law. Nor back having not gained but not lost.
i tell you this because I want you to stop obsessing. It really is very simple. But if it becomes a big deal it will probably go the way of all diets.
    1. Make sure that on your fasting day your main meal is something you really like. Choose the time. I make it lunch for my own reasons.
    2. Don’t weigh every day but maybe after a fasting day, first thing with no clothes on so you can repeat the process.
    3. develop a menu for fasting days of meals you really like. I quite often exceed 600 cals by a bit but not by too much.
    4. Weight loss is not the only benefit.
My doc is watching the effect on cholesterol and blood presssure. It is a good idea to visit a GP early in the program so you can get a measure after some time against these important health keys. My cholesterol has already dropped.
    5. Very few things in life are immediate. Be patient and relax. Have some fun with it. And have a nice meal on your non fasting days.
Do relax. It is not much fun if you become obsessed with the diet. But enough people have had a good result to prove that in most cases it does work.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Andrew,
That was all really helpful. I do have a habit of becoming obsessive and also want results unrealistically fast. I have just booked an appointment at the doctors and will weigh in tomorrow morning. Relaxing with it is probably one of the most important things. Thanks again and good luck to you too!

    You are welcome.
