Hi Nyla:
Hopefully, this will help: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/
Good Luck!
Hi, Nyla.
I just started this. My first fast day was last Wednesday, but I did it on the spur of the moment, so I didn’t plan my meals properly. But I made it from 11am to 7pm only drinking unsweetened tea and having 2 cherry tomatoes. I stayed to 500 calories. My FIRST real week starts tomorrow, and I am actually looking forward to it. I am not obese; I put on 25 lbs due to illness and menopause, and I am finally just fed up (no pun intended!). I long to fit back into my size 6 clothes that are all just sitting there, many of which I did the print design for.
Two things spurred me on- 1) Telling myself that “Tomorrow, I can eat ANYTHING I WANT!”, and 2)I just wanted to show I had some self-control, and could do it.
Funny though, the next day I had to keep reminding myself that I COULD eat- I didn’t eat more than I normally do, in fact I ate less. Putting a half teaspoon of sugar in my tea seemed extravagant. I already feel a little lighter, and I plan to have lost 10 pounds by Christmas. Whatever you do, DO NOT set yourself up for failure by trying to lose more than 1 lb a week. If you stick to this, you probably will, but just keep in mind that is still a bit.
Good luck , and YOU CAN DO IT!! Keep me posted

Oh, also, another thought. The WHOLE REASON for Dr. Mosely’s development of this diet is FOR HEALTH and longevity. The weight loss is just a natural side effect. I already take a pill for my (very slightly) high blood pressure, and I am avoiding my GP as I know he wants to put me on a statin for my cholesterol, which is not that bad; in fact, my GOOD cholesterol is nicely high.
However, I am intrigued by the idea that your body repairs itself when fasting, and I do not want to become like a friend of mine who is now taking 20 pills a day (though some are vitamins)! Or like my husband’s brother, who just found out he has diabetes.
So don’t just focus on the weight loss, focus on the good thing you are doing for yourself and those who love you.
Avalanche, get your brother-in-law to fast. It works and gets diabetes under control in no time. Get him to watch these:
