  • Hi all, I started this program on Monday and have high hopes. Day 2 of my fast day for the week and a little nervous! I’m hoping it’s ok to have 3 small meals instead of 2 as I don’t know if I could make it through otherwise? I have 10 kilos to lose (more would be even better) but I’m not sure how long it will take either? I’ve been on that many diets, I’ve lost count – just got too tired of counting everything – every day, so hopefully this will be what I need to succeed. Hope you all have an amazing day!

Hi annie, I just bought the book and will start my first day on Monday. How did you go the first day and did you lose weight straight away? From Qld.

Hi..another person in Aus here…I just started yesterday. Unfortunately a cappuccino from McD’s put my cal intake 11 over the 500 yesterday but apart from that the fast was easy for me. I often don’t eat breakfast and I have been gluten free and mostly paleo for a couple of years. This unfortunately hasn’t resulted in any weight loss so I am adding the fast to the mix as I see it as sustainable. I have bought the fast exercise book so I can modify my current exercise regime. I don’t see any point in doing ‘super exercising’ to lose my weight as I know it won’t be sustainable for me. Unfortunately my hobby/work is spinning wool and knitting so I seriously need some kind of exercise in my life. I currently try to do three half hour sessions a week of fast/slow walking on my treadmill.

For me, paleo (not strict as I do have dairy eg. in coffee and tea, cheese yoghurt etc) is an eating plan I can stick to. Sugar is a hard one to stay away from as it can be in so many hidden places but I have cut it out as much as I can. I don’t want to lose weight fast but slowly and in a way I can keep at it as I have a lot to lose as I am double the weight I should be.

The one time I asked a dr about weight loss they tried to give me a pill.. I haven’t asked again. As a whole, living with a diabetic, our diet doesn’t really have much adjustment to do but I am adjusting quantity. I have been on 1800 cals a day for the last few months thanks to an app. on my phone that helps me keep track and I am hoping that the fast will help kick the weight loss into happening. If not I will lower it and see what happens.

wish me luck and I wish you all joy with your journey.

Hi angelz, great to hear from you. I just received the book in the mail yesterday but found out what to do on this website and I was excited to start. My first fast day was ok. I felt quite strong in keeping to the 500 cals as I am very keen to lose this weight. I lost a lot of water weight the next day and was amazed at how much water I must have been storing! I lost around half kilo till today but I’m thinking it’s probably water, but very hopeful. I’m bring pretty good on my normal days and don’t eat many carbs which seems to help. Look forward to keeping in touch! From NSW.

Hi….. I’am also another person from Oz, I started yesterday and today is my first fast day, so wish me luck.

Hi Summerannie and angelz I’m a newbie too. I’m from Victoria. I just finished my first 1.5 days. I started Tuesday after I donated plasma..had eaten lots before I donated so thought I may as well start at 3.15pm after donating. I could keep going but thought I’d have a normal day today. I’ve already lost 1.1kg so I’m very excited. I only want to loose about 8Kg so not far to go. It was very easy for me. I don’t eat a lot of food on a normal day anyway but this is a real kickstart and something I can see I’ll be able to maintain once the weight is gone by just doing it once a week. I’m still waiting for my books to arrive but didn’t want to wait to start…glad I didn’t. Summerannie it is up to you how many meals you have per day on the fast days…just keep the kilojoules to under 2092 (500 calories) I tried to last as long as I could without food, just drinking water to save up for one bigger meal. I can never go without breakfast but just ate less for that . I look forward to hearing how you are both going

Good Luck Minihaha and Dawench. Let us know how you go

    Thanks!! I certainly will.

How great to hear from all of you. Thank you for your advice! I managed to get through my workday, but feeling a bit tired and pale. Looking forward to a very light meal but looking forward even more to tomorrow – as the book says something like, remember it’s only for today – tomorrow you can eat again! It gets me through! Looking forward to encouraging each other on this journey and a summer wearing nicer clothes.

    Hi,
I’m from QLD today is my first fast day on this diet, I’m going to purchase the book today just wanting to know how everyone else has eaten the 500 calories? In one big meal or 2 small meals over the day? And is ok to exercise on fast days?

    Hi Rachel and welcome:

The answers to your questions are included in these posts: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/ I urge you to look them over.

You can eat any number of times you want, but most eventually find one meal in the evening of high fat/protein food is the way to go. You can exercise on your diet days.

    Good Luck!

Hi from Sydney. I hope everyone on their fast day is doing well. I’m on my 2nd week, a fast day today (I’m doing the 4:3 beach fast for 6 weeks) and things are going well. I have a habit of wondering into the kitchen and looking around for something to nibble, so I’m keeping myself active. Working from home makes the kitchen too accessible.

Hi everyone. I’m Also in Oz, and would like to join this thread as well! Really need some support. My first couple of weeks went well, and lost a kilo. In my third week now, and caved in today! Sarah67, I too work from home and totally agree it is so hard to keep away from the cupboard. Easier when out and about. First day of school holidays, so at home with kids…wanting me to bake 🙁 I hope everyone else fared better x will try a fast day tomorrow.

Hi Helfast, welcome and well done. Just focus on the kilo lost and know you can do it again and loose another kg. When you get the urge to eat have a drink of water. That’s how I get through my day. I’ve lost 6cms off my waist which I’m wrapped about. I’m stuck on 2kg lost but I think the cms are more important. Summer is looking better every day…I can’t wait to be my ideal weight. I hope you all reach your goals too. Keep up the good work!
