  • Hi Everybody,

I am so looking forward to starting this diet…or lifestyle. I was recently diagnosed with an ovarian cyst as well as polycystic ovaries (or syndrome…Doctor seems unsure). I am 40 years old, a busy professional and Mum of 3. I have never been as heavy as I am today. I weighed in yesterday at 85 kgs!!! I am 5’6″ so that is overweight. I bought the Fast Diet book on Kindle over a year ago and read it. Thought it was a brilliant idea because I tend to find myself going a few days a week not eating and felt good about it. I also hate having breakfast! Can’t stand it but somehow felt abnormal since everyone says it is the most important meal.

In the last year, I have been developed reproductive health issues as stated above and with those a rapid and huge weight gain. I need to restart my body’s repair systems…especially my endocrine system. Having done research for the last year on how to best deal with my problems, imagine my surprise when many women testify to getting cured naturally by IF!!! So here I am…

Good luck to you all. I look forward to learning more in the forums.

Hi @butterflygirl I just wanted to wish you a big good luck for the start of your 5:2 lifestyle 🙂 PCOS sounds tricky with easy weight gain etc. but am glad you have read lots of positive responses to IFing for this condition.

We’re re-starting the 5:2 tomorrow too after a major relapse. Don’t worry about it, make sure you have lots of things to keep you busy on your F days and a range of interesting teas in the store cupboard (plus all the right ingredients in your fridge). We found you can eat surprisingly well on your F day – and you soon get into the rhythm. A bit of exercise too is great – I am getting back on my eliptical trainer! Best of luck to you!

Thanks luckylucy and Lois!!! I am looking forward to it.

I’m starting today too, good luck everyone.

I decided yesterday that I wanted to fast and I came across this site and I am excited to start today with you guys. We can do this.

Hi Guys you all sound really positive – I am starting from scratch tomorrow –

I Need to lose a stone to get back to ideal weight – I managed it last year then was forced to be inactive for a month before Christmas and piled back on the pounds – thought that it would go after Christmas with marathon training to do but even though I got my fitness back never really lost the weight …. carb loading went a bit too well I think. Now not running so much and weight is really going steadily up and up by a pound a week !! eek !!! so HAVE to do something and have decided to do the 5 ; 2 change of eating regime – . Good luck to everyone starting too !!

    Day one done!!! Oh yes!

Was much easier than I thought. I woke up this morning having slept through the night. It is now clear to me that imbibing wine before bed is the reason I have been waking up time and again in the middle of the night. Naughty girl! Eating this morning was a task though. I had to force myself to have something solid.

My goal is to lose 15kgs/2.4 stones/33 lbs. I am 5’6″ and want to be 70 kgs but I’m not in a hurry. I have surgery scheduled for end of September and will likely be immobile for a few weeks. But this will not stop me from starting my 5:2 WOL and exercise now.

    Good luck everybody!!!

I to have just completed my first fast day. It went okay but I could eat the arse end out of a low flying duck !
I plan to do more exercise on my next fast day.
More power to you all B-)
