Hi,
Because I’m a little obsessive I’ve been keeping an excel spreadsheet of my weight in Ibs for a morning weigh in, my weight when I get home from work and my weight just before bed. This was so I could see the difference between morning and evening weight to give me an idea of how much I put on in the day.I’m not going to continue doing this to this extreme but what I wanted to share was the fact that I’ve noticed something very, very, interesting by doing it and wondered whether anyone else has noticed the same?
Obviously my morning weight (before I’ve gone about my day and eaten is always lower than my weight when I get in from work (having eaten lunch at work etc etc), but when I go to bed (after having eaten dinner earlier in the evening) I am actually losing anything from 0.2 to 0.4 in the evenings and don’t actually understand why. I know this is such a small amount but it all adds up to a 1 pound over a week.
So yesterday for example I put on 2 ibs in the day (after standing on the scales when I got home) but then just before getting into bed I weighed myself and the damage wasn’t too bad, I had only put on 1.9 for the whle day so somewhere along the line I had lost weight whilst sat watching TV. Then I got up today and my morning weight was lower than my morning weight the day before.
I’m not a very active person but I wondered whether my choice of going for a carb-reduced -vegetable-based diet (i.e. stir-fries, salads, soups etc) is meaning I am burining calories “as I’m eating” or perhaps this has more to do with water retention? I’m not taking any tablets or magic potions to speed up my metabolic rate or anything like that, it just seems that I am buring calories between 7pm and 10pm when I’m sat about doing nothing.
I could be wrong on my analysis here though.
At least its in the right direction of the scales but I’m curious as to why when I’m at my most tired and just feel lazy and tend to just sit about that I would be losing weight.
All interesting stuff.
