  • Hello All
I woke up this morning and realised that I really need to focus on getting my excess weight off before I start heading too far north or where I am happy being. Both pants and jacket were very tight and uncomfortable.
At the beginning of the day I thought I would do what I usually do and open up my calorie counting ap and start tracking the intake.
Just after lunch I was speaking to a colleague in the kitchen and I knew he does 5:2, it sounded pretty simple and easy to follow, so knowing that I had only consumed 400 calories, I decided that today should be day one.
So here I am. Daring to dream that I can shed some kilo’s prior to my European vacation is September.
    Stay posted for updates!

Hiya ajdreams, best of luck with 5:2 then. I hope your first ‘impromptu’ fastday went well and that you quickly find a pattern that works for you.

    Thanks TracyJ.
Day one went surprisingly well. I am really keen to kick start it off and thinking that I might even try doing 4:3 for the first couple of weeks. Do you have any experience with this?

I’d really like to eliminate some of the bloating that I have before I go out with friends on Saturday night – can’t wait to dance the night away – it’s been too long.

Anyhow, I will try for another 500 calorie day today and then commence moderate diet on Friday.

Hope your journey is bringing you joy!

    AJD

Thanks ajdreams, it has and it does still 🙂

I’ve only done 4:3 once or twice following a holiday week really, so I’m not much use for tips on that but I’d recommend getting comfy with 5:2 first of all and then branching out to 4:3 if you feel that you’d like to and it would fit in with your lifestyle.

    Best of luck 😀

    Hey TracyJ

Thanks for the advise, and glad to hear that you are having a good time doing 5:2.

I have been doing pretty well and have managed to do 3 x 500 calorie days since commencing on 30th. I have been eating pretty lean on the days that have been “normal” consuming about 1000 calories on those days.

I’m not finding it too bad and have been having 3 meals a day and keeping up my exercise.

So far I have lost 9cm and 3kg. I guess that means that it’s working.

    Cheers
    AJ

Hiya AJ, Hmmm 1000 calories seems very low for a non-fastday. Do bear in mind that this is supposed to be something you do in one form or another (4:3, 5:2 or 6:1) forever and it needs to be comfortable and sustainable in the longterm, so that you never feel like you’re deprived or ‘on a diet’ for the rest of your life, get all depressed about it and fall off the wagon.

If you’ve worked out your TDEE & BMR using the calculator in the ‘How’ section and 1000 calories is more than your BMR then fine but if it isn’t then I’d recommend that you go for a nice comfortable range between BMR and TDEE for your non-fastdays. It’s so easy to get carried away with a new regimen in the short-term but unless you’re going to feel satisfied on it forever then there’s no point going mad now and burning yourself out.
