  • I started the Fast Diet one week ago today as I knew my weight had crept up in recent years but even I did not know by how much! I am 66 years old and have noticed over the last few years that the weight has gone on after a vacation trip or after Christmas but I’ve always been able to lose the weight. I was on HRT from the age of 48 until around 62 and that’s when the real trouble started. The weight has gone on since I came off the HRT. I used to be around 175lbs (I’m 5ft 7ins) but the weight crept up to 180lbs. I was a member of Curves for 4 years and always managed to keep the weight level or just below the 180lbs. The Curves I attended closed and I did not feel comfortable joining another gym so just upped my walking activity. However, due to a couple of trips over Christmas and the New Year plus another trip in May the weight crept up to 185lbs which it has stayed at (or so I thought). Yesterday I purchased a new bathroom scales, a digital scale, because our old regular scale was becoming difficult to read. I am appalled that on the new scale I am 191lbs!!! I have never been that heavy! Lord only knows how long I have been 191lbs as my old scale was obviously lying to me! My weight seems to be concentrated around my middle and, although I had a bit of a tummy in the past, I have never had a ‘belly’! I am so upset that I think I’m driving my husband nuts with my ‘belly obsession’!

Anyway, I started the Fast Diet last week and have had three fasting days so far with today being the fourth. I hope this works as we are off on vacation mid September and I dread to think what will happen then!

Don’t panic. Most of us started out WELL over your starting weight and it’s worked for most people on this board, why should you be any different? As far as the scales go I wouldn’t freak out too much about a difference between one set of scales and another, scales very rarely agree with eachother and there can be a massive difference depending on what surface they are on and what time of day/ which day you weigh on too.

Just take ALL of your measurements as a bench mark and settle yourself into a comfy 5:2 pattern. That is the most important thing – to make this lifestyle long-term sustainable. Everything else will follow in time.

    Best of luck 😉
