  • Hi Everyone,

I’m 30 years old, and want to lose about 10 pounds, maybe a little more. I weight 128 pounds, and am short, so it shows. =) Wondering if there is anyone else out there with just a little to lose. How did it work for you? Was it slow going? Were there long plateaus? Looking for what to expect.

The standard way is that you lose the most the first week and then it drops down after that.

The more you weigh, the more you lose at a faster rate.

I would expect you to lose a pound or two the first week and then less than a pound per week after that.

Hi, I’ve got about 15 pounds to lose, are doing my 4th fast day today, and have lost about 3 pounds so far, I know it probably won’t continue in this speed, but are happy while it does.

    Hi Frida,

I finished my 3rd Fast Day yesterday, but don’t know my weight loss from the beginning because I didn’t weigh for the first time until this morning. =) I am sure I lost some the first week, but now I’m tracking! Good job on your 3 pounds!

    Amy, thanks so much!

Hi Stradless05 I started about 5 weeks ago and have lost 12lbs so far. I don’t have much to lose and really am just doing it to make myself feel better, not out of necessity.

I have been doing 4:3 which I find quite easy to do and felt that it was the best option because i didn’t have far to go and was worried about being discouraged by extremely slow weight loss and long plateaus.

I have only had one week plateau and that was because it was the week before TOM so was expected. Obviously everyone is different but with not much to lose I definitely recommend 4:3.

    Good luck whatever you decide!

Hi, I’m short too with about a stone to lose – half of that is very recent holiday weight, and half has crept on over about a year after I stopped 4:3 last time. So far this time, I lost 5lb this first week! But if I do say so myself, I’ve done the absolute **** out of this diet in that time! I’ve been really strict on fast days (doing 4:3), plus stayed well under my TDEE on eat days, gave up coke/fizzy and caffeine (tea/coffee) in general and even did some exercise every day (only walking though) – I hate exercise even more than dieting tbh – I just want it over and done with! Although having said that, I’m actually feeling really great on it now. The start of it was awful, but I’m really into it now. Fast day again tomorrow, I’ve got my skim-milk porridge planned for lunch and a low-cal ready meal for dinner (obviously, I’m no cook!) bring it on! Good luck everyone. xx

Hi, 5lbs are really good for one week, I don’t think my body would be able to do that, but at the same time I have not had any recent spike in weight gain, my pounds have come little by little during the last 2 years.

But lost another pound since my fast yesterday, and have now got an bmi of 23.5, I’m aiming for getting it down to around 21. I can now see on my arms and my calves that I’ve lost some weight.

Good luck to all of you, especially if you’re fasting

Well, I’m very active and this way of eating is going really well. Today is Fast Day #4. I’m a few hours in. I thought working out would be traumatic on a fast day, but it’s not. I swim competitively with a team, (I’m 30 years old), as well as being a die-hard runner, and I do crossfit with my husband when time allows. I also dance classical ballet but have not had time for that this summer! With this lifestyle, the fasting is working out just fine, and that’s a huge and welcome surprise!

This morning I weighed (even though my official weigh in is tomorrow) and I weighed in at 127.6 pounds, which is 1.2 pounds lost since 4 days ago. Official weigh in tomorrow so we’ll see what it says.

I’m very short, so my goal is 110 pounds, which would give me the best amount of body fat to be healthy and not be injury prone with all my sports.

I started the 5:2 weighing 11st 10lbs. I’m 5ft 6 and in all honestly, don’t look over weight. I carry my weight mainly around the thighs and bottom (typical pear). Ideally, I’d like to get down to around 11st . I think if I were to lose anymore I would start to look ill. It’s been 6 weeks and I have lost 6 pounds. The weight loss is slow. Last week, I didn’t lose any weight so I thought I would try 4:3โ€ฆweighed myself this morning and lost only half a pound!! I was so disappointed, as I was so good the whole week. I did however, weigh myself at the gym this morning before my weekly run and I had lost 2 lbs – (prefer the scales at the gym!).
Has anyone else felt that they have done really well, but have had slow weight loss? Everyone else i know on this plan seem to be losing massive amounts of weight and I’m struggling at a pound a week. I guess I should be happy as I am losing and not gaining, even if it is slow! ๐Ÿ™‚

Well I’m on my second week of 3:4 and lost 2lb so far – weighed after my third fast day and with 2 eat days to go! I thought this morning I’ll do another fast day today then, but I had no energy at all which is not like me, even on fast days normally. My 4yo said to me that I’d run out of petrol, lol, and I thought actually she’s got a point! So I stopped lounging about, ate some food, and then had the energy to take the kids swimming and do a 4 mile walk – not so much a failure as a change of plan! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not looking forward to the scales on Monday though – we have a big bbq tomorrow with friends and alcohol. I’m trying to keep a balance between being as strict as possible to make all the effort worthwhile (ie to get a good weigh in result – also to get the hard bit over and done with quickly), but also I want to occasionally have a nice meal! With a very low TDEE, I can’t eat much even on eat days, so I’m always quite restricted. My plan for tomorrow is pimms with diet lemonade (60 Cals) and maybe occupy myself with the salad rather than the burgers!

*2lb so far this week that is – I did fab on my first week as all the bloating and water weight came off.

    Hi Lin,

Please don’t worry. You ARE doing fine. I started out with a lot more to lose than you have and would have killed to lose 1 lb a week. At one point I was stuck on a plateau for 5 months. After 18 months I’ve still a way to go – ideally another 20 lbs although 10 or 12 would just about do – but this has been the only eating plan that has every worked for me

The fact that you only have 10 lb or so to lose suggests that you are already eating heathily so your weight loss will be far less dramatic than that of somebody who was eating fatty sugary stuff before starting on 5:2. Even if the scales refuse to move, you will almost certainly find clothes fitting better, with some becoming so big and baggy that the only place for them is the charity shop.

So good luck and hang on in there.

Hi stradless, I’m only 5″ 4 and only wanted to lose around 7 lb but it took me about 11 or 12 weeks. It does seem to be very slow the less you need to lose and the smaller you are but you should find your shape will change too so don’t forget to measure. I put about 5 lbs back on while on holiday and am now in the process of losing it again and again its a slow business but I’m sticking with it and only need another lb until I’m back where I want to be.
So my advice is stick with it and you will eventually see results

Hi everyone, It’s great to hear of all this wieght loss. I started off at 11 stone and need to get to 10 stone, to be midway in my normal BMI range. I’ve just finished 3 weeks of 5:2 fasting and I’ve lost 5lbs in all. I guess it really is slow and steady. It seems like everyone is different, but there is steady weightloss.

Thank you! You’re absolutely right..will try not to get too hung up on what the scales say. ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s great! As long as you’re losing and you feel better – that’s the main thing. I think that once you start to get close to your healthy weight, it does become harder to shift the last few pounds. I’m fasting today and doing the 4:3 this week again. So far, only black coffee. Will pop to Wasabi at lunch time for one of their hand rolls, which come in at under 100 cals. Then a small dinner of salmon and salad. If I need a cheeky sweet treat, then I’ll have a Petit Filous yoghurt at 45cals. I never drink fizzy drinks, but I find coke zero helps with hunger pangs.
    Good luck everyone!
