  • Good afternoon everyone! My name is Heather and I’m a 24 year old girl from the US. I stumbled upon 5:2 last week and have been rigorously reading and studying up on it since. I am now on my second fasting day, the first being past Friday. I am very much looking coward to seeing and feeling results. I am happy to have found what seems to be such a supportive online community. I am ready to learn all you have to teach me!

    Hi Heather and welcome:

    The way 5:2 works is you go to bed, get up, eat 500 or fewer calories during your waking hours, go to bed, get up and eat to your TDEE or less – twice a week. On all 7 days of the week you can eat foods you want to eat – there are no forbidden foods, or foods you have to eat. For the first month or so focus on doing your diet days correctly (500 calories or less) and most everything else will fall into place.

    Here is what TDEE means: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/tdee-for-the-curious-or-why-dont-i-lose-weight-faster/

    And here are some tips for beginners: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/

    Good Luck!

    Welcome Heather! Great that you have found this forum and decided to join. I have been here for the last 8 months, reached my goal weight and am maintaining now.
    There are days that are easier and there are the ones that are trickier, but overall it is doable and the results should show.
    Best of luck and keep us posted!
    Stef.

    @simcoeluv wow! Thank you for all that great information! I really do appreciate it… Have read through both the links and am now moving on to FAQ. Thanks again!

    @stef.
    Thank you for the welcome! And congrats on getting to where you want and maintaining! I hope I will one day be eight months strong! I look forward to supporting each other!
