  • Hello Everyone,
I saw the TV program on the 5:2 diet last year and thought it made a lot of sense.
    Did I do anything about it…no 🙁
The other day I visited my Doctor to get a repeat on some blood pressure medication. He looked at my notes and asked “What happened to the diet you said you were going to do 6 months ago?”….Busted!
I’m afraid I’m a lifetime serial dieter…I can do it for maybe a month and eventually you realise that it has just gone by the wayside….*sigh*
He (the Doc) suggested the 5:2 Diet. I bought the book and reminded myself on all the good sense the TV program made.
Well tomorrow is Monday and will be my first “Fast day”, Wednesday will be #2.
I’m 58yo, 5’6″, 129.5kg and 55″ at the waist. Health wise Ok (apart from requiring blood pressure medication). I walk 4-5km up to 5 times a week after work (Sports Tracker says I’ve walked 1721km in 393 sessions in the last 2 years)
So now I recon I’ve got the day mapped out. This time I’ve told a number of people I’m doing the 5:2 (unlike some of the clandestine efforts of the past). I’m phsyc’d up and ready to go.

    Hi and welcome:

The way 5:2 works is you go to bed, get up, eat 500 or fewer calories during your waking hours, go to bed, get up and eat to your TDEE or less – twice a week. On all 7 days of the week you can eat foods you want to eat – there are no forbidden foods, or foods you have to eat. For the first month or so focus on doing your diet days correctly (500 calories or less) and most everything else will fall into place.

    Good Luck!

Day One for me too! like you I have been putting it off for ages, and I had a very stern word with myself, Its such an easy diet to follow…. unlike some I have followed in the past and fallen off of!
    Good luck!

    Day one for me too!!
Have been up since 5am with my baby and only had a banana, that’s a massive change for me, I’ve normally had a lot to eat by now!!

Day 1 for me too but I am splitting my days rather than doing the 2 days together. Good luck to all us newbies!

Week 1 over and done with. I can’t believe how easy it was, this has to get harder.
On the non fast days I’m taking it easy and trying to eat sensibly.
One night we had unexpected visitors for dinner so it was down to the local chook shop for take away. My wife gave me grief when I had a few (and I mean a few) chips. Boy were they nice. She looked at me disbelievingly when I said it was allowed.
End of week 1 result……5.5lb lost!!!!
Week 2 began today with a day off work with a rotten cold *sniff*. I still got through the day without too much difficulty.

    🙂

    Week 2 also.
Ended up 4:3 as my baby was unwell & had little time to eat!
    6lbs off!!
    Sooooo happy!!!

Kendo32, like you I saw the program a year ago and haven’t started. Moved to the US recently so I think it’s time to lose some kg’s before I start seeing them add on! Day 1 tomorrow..
