  • Hi all. I am new to the 5:2 diet. After reading about it and seeing family members lose a lot of weight, I have decided the time is now.
I actually have a heart condition which is made much worse my increased weight. I have 10kg to lose.
Does anyone have some starting advice?
I’m concerned on fast days that I’ll be so hungry and give up.
Does it actually get easier each week?
    Thank you

I just did my first fast day yesterday and the best way I found to get rid of the hunger pangs is to drink cordial as this really helped. I did find that I was very tired and emotional though. It is well worth doing because once you have got through that first day you feel so much better and the next day I did not feel overly hungry which surprised me.

I just finished my first day of fasting, and honestly found it surprisingly easy. I was hungry, sure, but it was never unbearable. I had two small meals and some slices of cucumber. I never felt fatigued either.

I have done a few fast days.

I think it is important to remain busy on fast days so you kind of ‘forget’ you’re hungry and try to drink steady amounts of water throughout the day.

I found on days when I wasn’t really doing much the hunger was difficult to ignore!

    Hope that helps 🙂

Thanks Helen. I have bought some sugar free cordial. Going to also try to drink black tea (I usually have milk)

That’s encouraging. What small meals did you have?

Thanks Calannra. I will try my best to remain busy. I don’t want to do too much as when I eat less I get really dizzy
