  • Hello everyone, hubby and I are starting today (9 June), having seen the Horizon programme, read the book, and read other science that backs up intermittent fasting!

We’ve had a slightly wobbly start today – he had breakfast without realising or calculating the “cost”, but the rest of the day should balance out. I’m a lover of cup-a-soups, so it was nice to discover that my favourite is only 80 calories a mug, not even a “slimming” one. I’m content with 2 or 3 during the day, then we’re having carefully calculated salad with a bit of meat or fish for tea tonight.

I’m going to read some stuff on the forum, and hope to “talk” to some of you soon, and swap stories, tips and recipes.

    Thanks for reading! 🙂

    Hiya

I am starting today too. I am like you, I watched the programme ages ago, have read the book & have the recipe book. I have been doing Weight-Watchers on and off for years. I seem to be losing and putting back on the same stone with WW so going to give this a go.

Need to lose around 3 stones to be in healthy range.

Started day with Spiced Pear Porridge from the recipe book which was lovely. I was expecting to have a salad lunch (usually can’t wait for lunch) then nothing until tomorrow. However so busy at work not feeling the need to give in to the hunger yet so going to wait until tea. That way I have something to look forward to when I finish this awful day. Drinking black tea & water to keep me going

    Salmon & salad for tea.

    Good luck!

    Hi Brownberrie

    Nice to “meet” you!

Day 1 went well, think hubby’s gone over, but I stuck to the plan – coffee at breakfast, but rashly had a bag of mini cheddars (duh!), but had cup a soup at lunchtime, then water only until teatime. Hubby and I had a plate of salad veg, crab sticks, cottage cheese and chicken – weighed out precisely! Still got 77 calories to play with, and getting peckish now, but want to hold out!!

    How did your day go?

    Hiya

Sorry for late reply, didn’t realise you had posted. I have turned notifications on now. Sounds like a good day – you did well (mmm mini-cheddars I am on another fast day). I like the thought of having a buddy to bounce ideas off as hubby isn’t doing this.

I am finding the advice in the book is helping; that I don’t need to act on the cue to eat when I am hungry and that the pangs will pass. It is working so far!

I found the first fast day easier than I expected which I am sure is due to the vast reserves of the weekend I have to call on 🙂 I had breakfast and then just drinks until tea. Had to have a change of plan as forgot to take salmon out of the freezer. Had two boiled eggs with asparagus dippers followed by 100gm of Strawberries (note the precise qty) and A carrot. I even survived my husband grilling bacon for his tea! The smell was divine.

The next day(not a fast day)I thought I wasn’t that hungry and did really well with healthy meals of salads and lots of veg with a bit of protein. Until after tea! when I didn’t stop eating! Choc chip cookies the lot. Yesterday (again not a fast day)was a more stable day with healthy meals and a bit of choc in the evening.

Today is a fast day again and haven’t found it bad at all. Made myself lots of water with Lemon and Mint which kept me going, the porridge again for brekkie and it will be a boiled egg tea with asparagus again as, guess what, I forgot to take the salmon out!

On non-fast days I am finding I seem to be eating fewer carbs without really thinking about it and feel less sluggish than usual. But obviously struggled with limiting food intake in the evening!

How are you finding the non-fast days? Are you counting calories on those too?

I am on holiday in a cottage at the coast for a week from tomorrow. Will play by ear but think I might try to do at least 1 fast day .

Look forward to hearing how the rest of your week is going.

    Anna
