  • I am starting the Fast Diet on Wednesday. Have had enough of comfort eating and notching up dress sizes to accomodate cakes, sweets, wine, crisps. I am 51 years of age and just feeling down about my general health, weight and attitude to life. I am hoping that 5:2, encouragement and determination will help. Thanks. x

    Hi Hopeful
You’ve made the right choice in wanting to give 5.2 a go. It won’t be easy in the beginning and there will be times when you might want to throw the towel in but just think that many of us have been there . Keeping to the 500 calories can be a bit daunting but can be done . My husband and I are now in our 4th month and although there hasn’t been a dramatic weight loss ( average 5 or 6 kgs) our shapes are changing and clothes are getting a bit looser.
Along with some exercise each day hopefully you’ll see some results . Don’t despair if nothing happens in the first few weeks. You’ll find plenty of inspirational posts on the forum to give you a boost. I’ve still got a long way to go but I too am hopeful. I’m 63 and being post menopausal the weight has slowly crept up so getting the weight off is going to take some time.
Good luck and let us know how you go.

Thanks Deerhunter. I too am post menopausal and my metabolism just seems to have ground to a halt. I am feeling determined and telling myself that the benefits of 5:2 will far outweigh the damage of comfort eating.
Good luck to you and your husband. xx
