  • Hello everyone, I just found the forum this evening and hope it will help me on this new journey. I have 35lbs to lose. I am an apple shape hence my username. I will get this sorted as I love clothes and I am sick of them looking very poor in them. I am also sick of feeling uncomfortable, my visceral fat must be pretty bad.
I am 41 and a mum of 3. I work fulltime and have found it easier to fast on the busy days. The plan is Tuesdays and Thursdays. I did two fast days last week to see how I coped and they went well. My issue I think is I eat too much on the other days, so I am going to try to curb the unhealthy eating then whilst still having some treats. My loves and downfall are crisps but there are plenty of lower fat versions that I will need to rely on during non-fast days. My strengths are that I am a good cook and I can sort out something pretty quick and healthy. Tonight’s tea was so nice I am looking forward to my next fast lol! I would really appreciate a buddy or two to help keep me on track.

    Hi and welcome:

The way 5:2 works is you go to bed, get up, eat 500 or fewer calories during your waking hours, go to bed, get up and eat normally. Do this twice a week.

When you start, focus on doing your two diet days each week correctly – eat 500 or fewer calories each day. Don’t worry about your non diet days until you have completed at least four weeks of doing your diet days well.

Here are some tips for those just starting 5:2: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/

    Good Luck!

welcome, waistintime, I’m a 57 year old mother of one (mostly) grown son who has lost 40 pounds so far on 5:2 plus increasing my walking to 10,000 steps/day. It helps me to think of my non-fasting days as days to practice the kind of eating I’ll want to do to maintain my goal weight when I get there. There are several threads here that have people who have become online buddies with 5:2, you can join any or all of them 🙂

Thanks Simcoeluv, that was good to read. I will just do that for 4 weeks and see how I get on.
Franfit I appreciate your welcome. I like that idea to view non fast days in that way. Well done in your weight loss.
