Hi all and a very good day to each and every faster.
I’ve been fasting slightly longer than when the 5:2 diet appeared on the scene. In a way it was a similar system but the 2 days of fasting had 24 hours between last and first meal. So finishing at 6pm I wouldn’t eat my next meal till 6pm the next evening.
I now do an entirely different fast that I have very little idea of the health implications, but I tend to do things a bit radical at times with little regard, or maybe sentient awareness of the dangers.
I eat one meal a day. I eat all my calories in one sitting. I usually have it in the morning or the very early afternoon at the latest. I’m often heard to announce with joy and excitement, “Let the feast begin!”
I was put on a medication a number of years back that had weight gain as one of the most common side effects. I’d always been pretty thin my whole life but suddenly I put on 3 stone before I noticed I was getting heavier. It was like it happened overnight. I tried lots of diets but the cravings that the medication amplified out of control made sticking to the diet last at most maybe 2 weeks. Two weeks. Too weak. No will power. Must eat doughnut.
I read a book called Eat Stop Eat which instantly grabbed my attention with it’s conspiracy like opening gambit about how the food industry was out to make us buy as much food as possible for maximum profit. And the diet industry then churned out a new and improved super best ever diet each month. An entire industry with clubs and meetings and food to make you thin. That’s right, to be thin, eat these calories. You could say the authors of the 5:2 diet are part of that same industry but I wont because, for me, fasting has been a revelation and I don’t see it as a diet. It is my way of life.
So I’ve lost those 3 stones and I’m happy with my weight. My one meal a day consists of around 1800 calories which is close to my daily requirement. Some days it’s fruit, veg and steamed fish, while other it’s pizza, some chocolate bars and a selection of pick and mix bread rolls. Butter of course.
I still feel the positive benefits in increased energy, apart from right after the meal, and I tend not to be as hungry later in the evening, which is often when I come to life and create visions of ever increasing vividness and detail ever since I imagined Tesla, one of the most skilled of all visualizers, and said that I would be better than he was. He said back to me, “I believe you have the ability but to add a little difficulty I’ll also be improving on what I currently can achieve.”
I talk to imaginary people in my head. Not because I’m mad, but because I can and it’s a lot of fun. “Hey Einstein, got a bit of a physics problem here you might be able to help me out with.”
I think you get the picture.
I was hoping to get more info from youtube about fasting but I got through a load that were simply trying to sell the diet as their own creation, which is fine, I don’t mind people making money from something that helps others, but I only managed to find one video of a guy giving his own account of fasting but not giving me any more information than I already knew.
Have you guys checked out the Hodge Twins on youtube? If you’re easily offended then I would avoid their channel. They have quite a large collection of videos and post them almost daily. They range from viewers questions, messed up news stories, to workout routines. Their fasting routine is to get all their food in a 6 or 8 hour slot and do weight training in the fasted state. It goes against what body building information has been saying for years about almost constantly eating the entire day to ensure a readily available source of protein to build muscle.
What I use as my guide is my subjective experience. The Atkins diet was telling me through the medium of feeling really awful every moment of every day that it wasn’t healthy. Fasting breaths fusion power into my mind, body and spirit.
To fast or not to fast, only you can make that decision. And if fasting is what you want then find your variety, mix it up from time to time if you like, do whatever it takes, because if something makes you feels good while also being healthy then it’s like eating imaginary chocolate cake. All the taste, all the flavour, all the sweetness, and zero calories.
Be strong.
