  • Hi all. I’m a new person to all of this and started this week. I just want to double check something to make sure I’m doing it correctly.

I decided I’d start at 6:30am on Monday morning. I had my porridge 40g and counted the milk and orange juice calories up and that’s fine. At 10am I realised that my last main meal the day before was at 5:30pm and apart from 2 squares of chocolates at 9pm on Sunday I’d had nothing else until the breakfast. I took it then that the fast technically could have started at 9pm on the Sunday night, so instead of finishing the fast at 6:30am on the Tuesday I finished at 9pm on the Monday. Is this okay?

I had my last main meal at 7pm last night and have just had the calorie reduced breakfast again and plan to finish at 7pm tonight. Once it hits 7pm I presume I can then have a large meal if I feel like it? This would suit me better as there is no going to bed hungry. Though to be honest Monday was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be and realised that a lot of my snacking is habit rather than hunger or necessity. I found the lemon squeezed in to hot water very helpful.

    Hello and welcome:

‘Doing 5:2 correctly’ means going to bed, getting up, eating 500/600 calories while you are awake, going to bed, getting up and eating normally – twice a week. ‘Normally’ means eating your TDEE or less. Here is what you need to know about TDEE: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/tdee-for-the-curious-or-why-dont-i-lose-weight-faster/. And here are some general tips for those just starting: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply. I think I knew deep down that was the case (I have read the book etc) but just the fear of going to bed hungry took over. Well, that’s just going to make today all the more interesting! Thanks again.

Very fitting username, ta ocras orm!

Right now it’s “ta AN ocras orm”!
