  • Hi All,

I have just started on the 5:2 journey, I have had several family members who have lost considerable amounts of weight and reaped many health benefits, the results speak for themselves, and I just have to give this a try, I have two stone I need to lose.

I am in my second week and already lost 3 pounds, I was back at my parents at the weekend and was able to enjoy sunday roasts with all the trimmings without feeling guilty, this is just great!

    Anyway I have a couple of Q’s:

If I fast 3 days a week instead of two, will it still have the same effect? Im going on holiday in 6 weeks and want to try and maximize my weightloss.

Also I go running in the mornings, if I burn 300 calories can I consume an extra 300? So 700 in total on fast days.

    Thanks for advise!

    Rebecca

Hi Rebecca – some people find that doing 4:3 speeds up their weight loss. I’m saying ‘some’because everyone is an individual and what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work or another. I’d just say try it and see if it helps.

Exercising on fast days does not mean you can ‘eat back’ the calories. The calorie level of 500 on fast days is based on 25% of the ‘average’ woman’s TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) of 2000 calories. This figure INCLUDES any exercise you do. It is a food idea to calculate your personal TDEE – an explanation of this and a calculator can be found here http://thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-calories-on-a-non-fast-day/
This tells you how much you can eat on a non fast day as ‘normal’ eating varies from person to person.

    Good luck

    xx

Oooops sorry …that should, of course, say ‘it is a Good idea’ 😀 x
