  • Hello.
I am now into my third week and on my 6th fast day.
I found the first day a real struggle but have coped fairly well since.
I have been not eating anything until the evening on fast days and then having one meal of about 500 calories.
So far so good, I think.
I weighed in at 18 stone the day before my first fast with 50 inches around my navel. I won’t weigh myself again until this Sunday as I don’t think it is a good idea to weight too often. But I did measure my belly this morning and it was 48.5 around the navel.

Ok 3 weeks ( 6 fast days) today and the first Sunday that I haven’t been working since I started.
I have just weighed myself same time, same place and I have lost 9lbs.
I haven’t even been particularly good the rest of the week, I have been out for 3 meals and had about the same in takeaways. Apart from saying no to a doughnut the day after a fast (as it contained the same calories that I had eaten all day before) I haven’t denied myself anything.

Absolutely buzzing. I can do this, I will do this.

Congrats on your success! Stay patient and keep on going and the weight will come down! Occassionally you might hit a plateau, but if you stick to it it will work. Make sure you re-calculate your new TDEE each time you lose weight!

Small changes can go a long way. I cut out coke and sugar in my coffee and I am now a water and tea total. I believe strongly that slowly making dietary changes will help your health a lot. I try to cut out processed food as much as possible andxI added tons of veggies to my diet. I make myself a green smoothie most mornings, which I drink during the day.

Anyhow, keep us posted about your journey!
    Stef.

    Thanks for the reply Stef.
The main reason that I am only going to weigh myself every few weeks is to try to avoid plateaus. I have started exercising again, which I know will be good for my health and shape but wont be so good fro the scales.

Luckily I am not a fan of fizzy drinks. I have stopped taking milk or sugar in my coffee and have switched to skimmed milk in tea. I have also started drinking freshly squeezed lemon with water and green tea with mint.

I love my food and could never stick to a calorie controlled diet 24/7. But the way things are working with the 5-2 diet is that I just have to have the will power to get through one day in the knowledge that I can have whatever I want for breakfast the next morning. The weird thing is that I don’t wake up the day, after a fast, feeling ravenous and I tend to eat less than normal rather than more. I also seem to get full a lot quicker now.

    Well Done Diggerson!

Looking forward to seeing you slowly disappear (giggles) keep us all posted on here of your progress …. I was doing the Lemon but with boiled water (cooled slightly ) it helps your digestion too … good luck and keep posting! ”)

    Hi Dreamgirl.
I have been having lemon in hot water as my first drink of the day, replacing my regular cup of tea. I have also been having iced water with lemon and lime later on in the day. It is very refreshing and apparently very good for you.

Diggerson, I am on my 6th FD too! I agree about trying to stick to something that just isn’t working and finding something that does. I think this is my something that will work. I made pancakes for my hubby for dinner tonight, I would really have enjoyed one, and as I told myself, I can really enjoy one, TOMORROW!!!
And I am okay with that.
    Blessings.

That is the great thing about this diet, you can have it tomorrow. The strange thing is that when tomorrow comes I don’t always fancy it. I go to bed dreaming about ham and eggs but when I wake up I don’t usually feel that hungry.
