  • Hiya , my name is Ken , i live in Rochdale , England . I am just about to go on amazon and order the Fast Diet book , any advice will be welcome
    Thank you

    hi and welcome Ken!

wishing you all the best on 5.2, basically choose the 2 days you want to fast, check your TDEE ( amount of cals you should consume on normal days, top of the page under the how? section, a tool will calculate this for you)

    happy fasting 🙂

Hi, I’m new too … ive tried lots and lots of diets, I’ve lost 2 1/2 stone and stuck for about 12 months – need to loose lots more but if I could shift another 2 1/2 stones before my holiday in August I would be very happy.

Good luck – New recipe book ordered – plan to do Monday and Thursday as my fast days. As they are working days and I can keep myself busy.

Hllo everyone, I am a newbie :)My name is Kate and I live in Wales . I started the 5:2 Monday and its my second fast day today. Not been too bad so far – just found I had a bad headache monday evening but I realised I hadnt had much water and after a few pints it solved the problem. Please can I ask – when is best to weigh? Do people weigh on a regular day or each day? I was thinking I would weigh myself saturday morning. Quite interested to see how this works – I am a bit sceptical – I have been doing the yo yo thing for years – so hoping this works for me…looking for a life changer not just a quick fix.

thanks to Angie , Nana J and Katewales for your support, my books have now been orderd cant wait to get them

Welcome too Nana and Kate too!!

let us know how you are getting on and happy fasting 🙂

Welcome aboard, Ken. You’ve come to the right place. I think it’s safe to say you will be able to wave the big belly goodbye. No predicting how long it will take, everyone’s different.
If you have problems, feel free to share them. Whatever the difficulty, it’s very comforting to know it’s not just you. There’s bound to be someone, or even a lot of someones, who’ve been there and done that. And of course, as the pounds melt away, there are always a lot of posters around happy to give you a cyber-high-5 to celebrate!
    Best of luck.

thank you for all the support everyone , it does say somewhere on the site to read the books before you start , any thought Angie ?

    thank you Angie

Plus . how the heck do i calculate how many calories i am eating ????

    Hi Ken,

You need a calorie counter. This can be a book, see Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=calorie%20counter&sprefix=calorie+counter%2Cstripbooks&rh=i%3Astripbooks%2Ck%3Acalorie%20counter&sepatfbtf=true&tc=1396009146329&ajr=sabcor.

or an online calorie counter for example: http://caloriecount.about.com/

Having a book at home, a freebie given out with a women’s mag many moons ago, I only occasionally need to look online, but other posters will probably be able to recommend a reliable site.

That’s one area in which the Fast Diet books fall a bit short. They give you a total calorie count for each meal shown in the book, but there’s no accurate calorie-counting index at the back.

The two cookbooks, The Fast Diet Recipe Book and Fast Cook are both excellent, with some great, very un-diet-like stuff, but they have the same problem with the calorie list, although they do give the total count for each meal. The BBC Good Food website http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/
also has some interesting low-calorie recipes. Just last night we had tandoori chicken with a small portion of brown rice which came to 250 cal, with 20 cal or so for chutney.

    Hope that helps.

Hey lancsken wellcome! Personally I don’t think you need the books, there is so much info and help out there, any questions and someone on here can help you with ideas. Its quite good to find your own way that works for you as well, as I think most people do. Good luck stick with it and keep us updated! 🙂

One thing I have found so usefull is My fitness pal, it has everything calorie wise. you can even scan barcodes from food items. thanks
