    This is my first day (a fasting day) of the 5:2.

    I am hoping to lose about a stone overall and long term feel the health benefits.

    My main demon is wine, so looking to cut right back on the non-fasting days too! Any tips?!

    good luck on your fast today, lots of support on here and friendly advice too, re the wine am no expert lol but I do know it has a lot of calories!!
    not much of a drinker myself but am sure there are others who will suggest some tips for you!

    Hi Simone, good luck for today, hope it goes well for you. Like you I enjoy a glass or two of wine in the evenings but have found that I now have to restrict myself. I find it easier to use wine as a reward after a good week and its quite motivational in that respect. Otherwise just try to stick to weekends if you are not fasting then. Let us know how it goes.

    Yes Angie, wine does have a lot of calories and sticking to weekends is a good idea Ann. I am planning on having my fast days during the week so that would work.

    Is it better to stick to the same two days if possible?

    Hello Simone – generally people stick to the same 2 days but it doesn’t matter and if you can’t do it one day, just change. It’s a very flexible lifestyle. Hope you got through your first day ok yesterday. It will soon become a way of life.
    I like wine, too, and I don’t miss it on the fast days, I’m glad to say – I just don’t think about it. If you want to cut down more, make sure you use a smaller glass 🙂

    Made it through my first fasting day! It wasn’t too bad actually and I didn’t miss the wine at all. I did think about food quite a bit though 🙂

    Well done! First day is complete and you survived, right?

    I’ve been doing it for 2 months and its brilliant. – stick with it and you will soon see the benefits, which in turn will motivate you even more!

    As for the wine, save for weekend, or just have a shot glass handy for fast days? Lol

    Well done Simone, you’ve started – that’s the hardest step. I found that fast days get easier as you progress especially when the weight starts to come off. Wine is a love of mine too but it definitely makes me hungrier so I avoid it fast days and have the occasional glass perhaps at the weekend. What about a gin and slimline tonic? Or another spirit and mixer? Less calories and a larger drink!
