  • I just finished my first week. I couldn’t quite get to the full 24 hours of not eating yet, I broke down around 19 hours. I’m determined this week will be better.

Today is the first day of fast for my second week and so far I haven’t eaten since 17:30.

I did drop one pound over the last week, but I’m not feeling much different. A little more lethargic though – walking the dogs seems to take a bit more effort. I’m hoping my body just needs to adapt.

I’m keeping positivie spirits though and am looking forward to patting myself on the back at the end of week two.

I am also one week in. I can’t seem to kick the terrible headaches I’m getting on my 500 calorie days. Is this happening with anyone else? Does it go away as your body adapts?

Keep going! I’m sure you will start to get more energy!

    Hi and welcome:

Headaches often come from dehydration. A body gets about 40% of its water each day from food. When you cut your food, you cut your water intake. Some find if they drink quite a bit more water on diet days the headaches either stop or are less powerful.

Here are some tips for those just starting: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/

    Good Luck!

    SunnyInTheShire,
    Welcome 🙂
I am slightly confused by your post.
On the 5:2 plan it is not necessary to go 24 hours without eating, although some people do chose to do it that way.
The idea is to eat a maximum of 500 calories (women) or 600 calories (men) on 2 fasting days a week, usually divided into breakfast and dinner or a snack and dinner, so that you go at least 12 hours at a time without eating (although a few people do eat on 3 or even 4 occasions on fast days).
Quite a few people seem to find it easier to wait until dinner to eat on fasting day, so they do go 24 hours without eating, but this is not required, or even the way that intermittent fasting was designed.
So please do not think that going 24 hours without eating anything is necessary for your success in losing weight and being healthier.
