  • Hello everyone,
I am on my second week of doing the 5:2 diet. I am finding it okay and sticking to my fast days even though the evenings are tough when my tummy is rumbling!
I started at 233lbs and am now down to 228 as of Thursday morning (planning to weigh again tomorrow as today is my 4th fast day!).
I am aiming to get down to around 168lbs eventually, the magic 12 stone mark. This would make me around a size 12 as I am quite tall (currently in a size 18) I was just wondering if anyone else had this kind of weight to lose or had lost it already?
I am hoping to switch it up to 4:3 next week and ideally speed up my initial weight loss.
Hope you’re all doing well πŸ™‚
    Hannah x

Hi Hannah, I’ve just completed my 4th week on 5:2 similar amount to loose as you so in it for long haul. Started 235lb now 224lb I am slightly disappointed would’ve liked more but have lost inches too, have you measured yourself as that has given me a boost. I have also found that i cannot eat as big portions as i used to and haven’t struggled whilst still cooking for family daily. I think i should stop weighing daily though but am addicted at the moment!!

    Hi and welcome:

11 pounds in four weeks and disappointed?

The average weight loss on 5:2 (and most other diets) is a pound a week.

Here are some thoughts that might help: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/

And this explains why you might not continue losing over two pounds a week: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/tdee-for-the-curious-or-why-dont-i-lose-weight-faster/

    Good Luck!

Oops! Now 226 so 9lb lost in 4 weeks, that was wishful thinking. Think I’m disappointed as got lots and lots to loose but I’m still positive and know it is a long term WOE. Keep reading everybody’s post that have been doing it a long time and realise it averages out 1lb a week so I mustn’t expect too much.

I feel the same, I’m hoping the slow weight loss won’t put me off but I am determined to stick to it! I have lost weight quickly twice before & ended up just putting it all back on and I really don’t want that to happen again.

    Hi Hannah and dido

You are both doing so well in your first few weeks.
I have been doing this for 56 weeks now and have lost 46lbs (from 200lb to 154 last week)
I lost a lot at the beginning (9.3kg or 20.5lbs in the first 12 weeks), then got sick and was lazy for 6 weeks but didn’t put on weight in that time so it was a good stabilising period.

I am really happy with 46lb in that time (consistent, slow and steady and all that)
I am never going to put that weight back on (still trying for 5kg more, but not killing myself over it)

The wonderful thing has been being able to buy nice “normal” size clothes, I’ve gone from an 18/20 to 12 (sometimes 14)

Like dido I am now eating much less, luckily sweet things aren’t my problem, but I can still be brought down by bread and cheese.

DON’T WEIGH EVERY DAY, only once a week (maximum) – there is so much variation day to day and it can be your undoing!

My (new) doctor in January 2013 was worried that I was pre-diabetic (tryglicerides 3.2, cholesterol 7.2).

    Now:
Weight from 90.8 (January), 80.7 (April), 69.8 (LAST WEEK)
BMI from 34.8 (january), 30.1 (April), 26.27 (LAST WEEK)
    Cholesterol from 7.2 (January), 5.9 (April), 5.4 (December 2013)
    Tryglicerides from 3.2 (January), 0.8 (April), 0.6 (December 2013)

Good luck and don’t lose heart if you don’t lose some weeks
AND remember if you exercise (which is good to stop you getting floppy as you lose more) you might stabilise because muscle is heavier than fat.

So keep at it, and don’t forget to reward yourself constantly (I have a piece of Lindt after dinner on non-fast days, and its amazing how satisfying ONE piece can be), and I drink wine every non-fast day.

    Vicki

I weighed-in today and am pleased that another pound has gone πŸ™‚ so that brings me down to 227 so that’s 6lbs in 2 weeks- very pleased! Hopefully it will continue to come off steadily. I really can’t wait to feel the difference
I have yet to notice any difference in my appetite on non-fast days but hopefully that will come soon.
Well done with your amazing weight loss Vicki, you have done so well!

Wow Vicki, fantastic results i bet your chuffed. My aim would be size 14 clothes a 12 even better. Thanks for your advice i will try really hard to not weigh til next Friday think will get hubby to hide the scales. Keep you posted how i get on. Well done Hannah on another 2lbs down, keep going.
