  • I started on the Fast Diet late November. I have had good results. The weight loss has been slow – 6-7lbs but I am pleased with that as I have been able to maintain weight over the difficult periods when I normally put it on. Christmas, birthday, house guests. These are periods when I normally put on c3lbs and then have to work it off again. Since doing the Fast Diet I seem to hold my weight much better. Prior to the Fast diet I lost 7lbs under the Gi diet (-10lbs + 3lbs) which is a very good rate for me so I try to stick to Gi principles on the Fast Diet but allow myself to fall off the wagon at times. I want to lose a further another two stone. But each pound I feel better so I am taking it bit by bit. Last year I was diagnosed as nearly but not quite pre-diabetic, high cholesterol and blood pressure. I cannot wait to be retested to see if it has helped. There was definite loss around the stomach too. I dropped to dress sizes with both diets.
But most importantly, I have a neurological condition that makes my co-ordination very poor. Fast Days seem to improve my disability. This could be just having less to ‘carry around’ but it feels like communications between my brain and nerves just flow better.

    Hello Mumoftheanimals

you are making real good progress, very glad your health has improved greatly since starting 5.2, and slowly but surely is the way to do it!!
so a big well done to you, keep going 🙂 xx

    Hi mumoftheanimals
(are they real kids or strange pets?)

SO glad for your success, its not slow, just wonderfully consistent.
The health improvements are the most important thing, and it’s wonderful that your co-ordination has improved. I have found that I just feel better overall, and you sound that way too.

I have lost 21kg (46 lbs) – BUT it’s taken 56 weeks. Back to consistent! (slow and steady and all that)
I am never going to put that weight back on (still trying for 5kg more, but not killing myself over it)

My (new) doctor in January 2013 was worried that I was pre-diabetic (tryglicerides 3.2,cholesterol 7.2).

    Now:
Weight from 90.8 (January), 80.7 (April), 69.8 (LAST WEEK)
BMI from 34.8 (january), 30.1 (April), 26.27 (LAST WEEK)
Cholesterol from 7.2 (January), 5.9 (April), 5.4 (December)
Tryglicerides from 3.2 (January), 0.8 (April), 0.6 (December)

So keep at it, and don’t forget to reward yourself constantly (I have a piece of Lindt after dinner on non-fast days, and its amazing how satisfying ONE piece can be)

    Vicki
