  • Hello everyone, I’ve been reading the forums since I started 2 weeks ago and thought it was high time I introduced myself. I’m 26 with 2 stone to loose, hopefully by August (four weddings to go to this Summer!), along with improving my health generally. I’ve found myfitnesspal extremely useful for counting calories and highlighting what nutrients my diet is low in. My life is very sedentary at the moment as I’ve been out of work for 7 months, I’m hoping once I’m working again and can afford equipment/gym classes then my fitness levels will improve! There’s lots of inspiring stories on here and I’m looking forward to being able to share mine.

    Hi Gemma

Looks like we have similar plans. I have 29 lbs to lose by August also, although August is a target, not a must-do. I am also out of work but that is because I am towards the other end of life’s course at 68 ! This has the happy advantage of no tiresome employer to satisfy and lots of free time but, alas, the kitchen all too close to where I now sit !

I count calories every day as I find it very easy to under-estimate consumption on fasting days. I am easily derailed therefore. However, I do get out running 3x a week for 30-35 mins. In fact, I rejoice I can still do that at my age.

I am actually finding the regimen fairly easy, with few wobbles to admit to. This is my 9th week en route and I have lost 11lbs of my 40 so far.

Indeed this forum is full of advice, and support. I have read through it for hours since finding it.

Here’s hoping our journeys can be inspiring also to others in due course !

    Best of luck.

Hi Gemma, welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear about your job situation and I really hope something comes up in the near future.
I used to go to the gym 5 times a week and now I don’t anymore. I have my own gym at home, but before getting weights and an elliptical I have found out, that there are a gazillion things you can do without joining a gym!

There are numerous exercises that do not need any equiment and you can find a wealth of information online. For example today is a real bad snowy, rainy day outside, so I just ran up and down the stairs for the last 15 minutes. Going for a fast walk, taking your bike out or rollerblading results in burning calories.

    Anyhow, best of luck
    Stef.
