  • Hello

I’m a 36 year old mum of two from Manchester. I’m on my second week of 5:2 with my first week going really well. I felt great and handled fasting easily. My loss was 5lbs! I’m happy with this being an unusual result and likely just due to the new regime.
Not too hungry today at all, the odd pang but I really am finding it easy. It’s the habit of picking that’s trickier!!
I have around 45lbs to lose.

How do you handle the negative comments? Those that say fasting is dangerous, you’ll be weak, you’ll get tired etc., because I’ve just started getting those. It’s not like I am living off cabbage soup for a month!!

Looking forward to reading through the posts.

    🙂

    Hello and welcome HellierRH !

well done on loosing 5 lbs, that is a great start 🙂 as for the negative comments, its just ignorance and probably a hint of jealousy too!
I would just smile, and say “try it, you might like it” 🙂

you are doing really good so keep going, and happy fasting 🙂 x

    Hi Hellie,

    Well done and welcome.

As for negative comments, don’t tell them! My sister was like that I told her it was for our health not just cutting back. She is the one what brings a cake when visiting, on saying we are not eating that, she says my husband likes them! So we eat it!! Not very thoughtful.

So as in ‘old days’ ….We are not at home Mondays and Thursdays….all visiting is outside these days unless urgent and really having to break the fast!

    Good Luck

    Hi and welcome:

Here are some tips for those just starting: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/

The link to the fasting article will give you much information on the history of fasting and its uses (and safety).

    Good Luck!

    Hi Hellie,

Negative comments tend to come from ill-informed people who haven’t a clue what they are talking about. Tell them politely but firmly that you are a responsible adult who knows precisely what she is doing and therefore needs no uncalled-for advice. That’s if you are a polite Mancunian lady. If you are as rude as hermajtomomi of “Nawf” London you might want to tell them to $3%&*!!! off. Good luck with 5:2. You’ve got off to an excellent start.
